Please note that any and all findings are observations made by medical specialists who all are trained and have been certified to perform inspections of medical facilities both on a station and on a vessel. The inspectors findings are solemnly based on their experience as healthcare professionals and can be debated under Sirius Medical Code Committee (SMCC) accordingly.
MFE has been asked to do a medical inspection of your facility.
Detailed Report:
Docking Bay:Your three docking bays are well set-up for the acceptation of (critical) patients and/or vessels accustomed to deliver people in need of immediate medical attention. We do however want to point out that the position of cargo containers obstructs the clear path the medical personnel have to take to reach the patient(s). We therefore suggest to make your docking bays more easily accessible in case of emergencies.[TQ, DM]
Station corridors:Corridors need be free of any and all items which may possibly hinder the free movement of personnel or personnel with a stretcher or hospital bed. The emergency breathing apparatus (commonly known as EBA's) are sufficient yet we find them difficult to reach for people who are less tall. We suggest the placement of the EBA's to be lowered with at least 30 cms as to provide ease of access to all those onboard your station.[TQ, DM, JX]
Medical Bay:Your med-bay is state-of-the-art and has been outfitted with the best possible medical support we have seen thus far. It is well equipped and provides a very decent amount of working space for your personnel. [TQ, DM, JX]
Pharmaceutical Bay:Your pharmaceutical setup is adequate yet we advise the use of specialized and cooled medicine cabinets. Also, the accessibility steps seem to be missing thereby hindering personnel to reach the top most drawers.[JX,DM]
Mortuary:As much as we dislike to say so, casualties and fatalities are unfortunately very much things we as professionals have to deal with. We suggest you create a special morgue facility as to provide safe and proper storage of the deceased. [DM,TQ]
Personnel:Your personnel has been very well trained. We do however think they lack the experience and therefore recommend further training. We have also noted that you may lack a number of qualified personnel. As you have mentioned that your station is expecting a maximum of 60 people daily and you operate on a 24/7 basis we do suggest you hire more medical personnel as to keep up the medical support as well as to keep healthy working times for the medical workers on station. [JX,DM,TQ]
Ventilation:Our tests have proven that the state of your base ventilation is above what we normally expect. Your fresh air supply is at 107 percent which is an acceptable level for a ventilation system in a facility as yours. We do have to stress the fact that your maintenance crew inspects and replaces the filters on a frequent basis. If these conditions are met we have no objections regarding the current setting of your ventilation systems.[JX,DM,TQ]
This concludes our report.
