Lost Luxury Liner Destroyed in Atmospheric Engagement
New Berlin - Local authorities were at a loss for words today following the unexpected atmospheric reentry of an Orbital Luxury Liner earlier today. Luxury Liner Martinique, after a grueling week of searching, returned to New Berlin orbit not long ago after being freed from the hands of its Unioner captors, but was soon beset by rescue craft who allegedly opened fire on the liner, with the fight visible from the surface of New Berlin's twilight zone. The fight, believed to have been sparked by beliefs of Nomad infestation of the liner's remaining 1,834 passengers, lasted for several minutes, before the liner began trailing debris, entering New Berlin's atmosphere at 20:30 standard Berlin time.

Eyewitnesses report that the ship's engines exploded upon breaching the upper stratosphere, shearing the ship into fragments with two large pieces descending farther. The remains of the Martinique crashed into the southern entertainment district of the Saar community, destroying over 12 standard blocks of development, and shattering windows and cracking foundations as far as ten kilometers. Further debris continued to fall for another hour, while chemicals from the ship's engine continue to remain in the air above Saar, which the Police have designated a no-fly zone for the time being.

Catastrophe response analysists put the current death toll at two-hundred thousand, owing to the extensive night life of the community and the packed nature of the New Berlin environment. Further casualties continue to be reported, and it is easy to say that this may so far be the greatest tragedy to befall our young Empire. With the nature of the incident believed to be caustic in nature, authorities are urging citizens to keep watchful of individuals with injuries, as pods from the ship have been confirmed to have set down in the surrounding communities. If you happen to come across one, you are asked to report it, and keep a safe distance of thirty meters to prevent contamination.
