Battlegroup Veracruz and their role in refugees evacuation
VESPUCCI
The role of security forces in protecting civilian ships is important in any civilized Sirius state: death-carrying vessels stand guard over those who carry life both by means of finance and by transporting people through open space. Military duty cannot be denied, but there are situations in which the military does not simply obey orders, but creates situations themselves in which it must display its nobility.

Today's heroes are the members of the Veracruz battle group, a hybrid between Separatist forces and the Legion of Hellfire. Under the careful guidance of their commander, Isaac Barrington, the pilots and captains of this Insurgency group defending the Vespucci system from the attacks of the Liberty Navy Fleet like true Guardians.

As far as we know, it was Isaac who was given enough authority to initiate the operation to deport the Bretonian refugees from the Vespucci system to other regions of the Sirius sector. We have not been able to reach him, but we have been able to speak with "Juliet" Wing Commander - Helena Braus:
Interview Wrote:
Q: Helena, what is the situation on the front in the Kansas system right now? Are the operations of the Insurgency fleet against Liberty Navy Fleet successful?
A: The operations of Insurgency fleet are quite successful, judging by the last few days: we have not seen as much escalation of fighting in Kansas as we have in other regions of Liberty. This means that Delaware has had no success on this front, and the day of his "final offensive" is postponed.

Q: For how long? What if Delaware tries a rash attack right now?
A: In that case, they are in for a deep disappointment: Fort Riley stands in the way, followed by the Vespucci system. Attempting to pass even through the first line of defense will be accompanied by a mountain of corpses, giving the Liberty fleet nothing but extra deaths. Vespucci, on the other hand, will remain safe.

Q: Elena, how high is Veracruz role in rescuing refugees? Should we only count on you? What about the main fleet?
A: The Insurgency high command preferred to attend to the more pressing matters of preparing Riley for defense against Navy fleet forces. Commander of our battle group personally sought authority for a carte blanche for the refugee department.

We are now fully responsible for the organization of rescue operations, have full authority to construct a specific route for each ship, and can determine for ourselves how many refugees should reach each point. In addition, we have quick access to the list of those who have decided to help us and can replenish it at a very rapid rate. The stationed forces at Fort Riley will also assist us in escorting ships to Pennsylvania. It is impossible to describe everything, but it may be said that these things are now directly dependent upon us.

Q: Your commander is a man with a big heart, no doubt about it. Will this operation be successful?
A: At this point, the main destinations for refugees should be the planet Yuma and Erie, and everything is going according to plan: we are waiting for Crayter Republic response to the situation that has arisen, so as not to encounter their armed resistance against civilian ships. I think the reasons are understandable: no one will tolerate strangers.

In addition, we need to understand how many people can accommodate both planets to keep them as comfortable as possible. There is room for making contact with the Kingdom of Bretonia itself to ensure the transportation of refugees from both planets inside the home state, but these are nothing more than "dusky plans" that may not come true. But yes, I can assure you that the success of the operation is quite probable, and we may not encounter any resistance at all on our way.

Q: Do you think the situation that happened in the Pennsylvania system a few days ago could happen again? To be clear: One of the refugee ships was attacked by Liberty Navy forces, and had it not been for the Insurgency defenders, things would have turned out in the worst possible way for the liner.
A: This is a matter worth settling with the Liberty Fleet itself, oddly enough. The reasons for the attack were quite logical: imagine an unknown ship with an escort of several fighters, cruisers, gunboats, and battleships. What do you think a Liberty fleet officer would think? If they were anyone else would have done the same thing and taken the Liner as a major threat.

Q: Does this mean we have to make a temporary peace with the Liberty fleet?
A: It looks like it will really come to this, but this truce will not affect the conflict itself: the shooting will continue, just not near civilian ships.
It looks like Veracruz battlegroup is really have control of the whole situation. And no wonder: Isaac is an officer in the once-existing Hellfire Legion, whose people had high ideological standards about what is "good" and what is "bad". There is no doubt that Barrington will do everything to save as many lives as possible, and pilots and captains of Veracruz battlegroup will provide him with direct assistance in this endeavor.

Veracruz News Agency will keep the community of the native system up to date on events.
