Your message honours and humbles me. It is saddening to hear about the decease of the honourable Lord Aoyama. He has served the Empire well and shall be remembered for his diligence and dedication to the duty before the Emperor. I shall relay my sincere condolences to his family.

Your nomination of me to the position of the Lord Speaker does me too much credit, esteemed genrou. I am but a humble servant of the Emperor and all my actions were directed to enforce his will and promote the prosperity and wellbeing of the Empire. If His Imperial Majesty desires me to assume the position of the Lord Speaker and to lead the Upper Chamber of the Imperial Diet - then I shall accept this gracious offer and obey His will.
