Chairetísmata,

I'm writing to you on behalf of the Deterrence, one of largest organizations within the Imperio del Corsair, led by Executor Ravenna Nagash, a woman of many ventures, who's interested in furthering Corsair influence beyond just military means.

You may or may not have heard about the most recent incursion into our home space of Omicron Gamma by The Core and Maltese Empire, and while we repelled the attackers this time, it made us question how centralized our Imperio is. Ever should a catastrophe similar to that of Planet Toledo fall upon Crete, our people, as well as our culture would be effectively wiped out all at once.

As such, to counteract any such scenarios, however unlikely they are, It is the Executor's wish to reinstate Corsair presence on Gran Canaria. It is our firm belief that this would prove to be a mutually beneficial arrangement. From what little we've heard from Gran Canaria since our previous settlements were forced to evacuate during the Bretonian hostile takeover, You're still rebuilding and could use all the manpower you can get, and it's something we can provide... within reason.

For now, we're looking to set up a small agricultural-focused settlement of around 50 people, subject to possible expansion should this venture prove successful. We'd also be interested in setting up a trading outpost at a later date, trading various excess commodities we've... acquired elsewhere for goods we're in chronic short supply of, such as food. We're well aware of the Core's... problematic presence on the Orbital Vista, but from what I understand they keep to themselves there and do not bother themselves with whatever is going on planet-side.

I hope to hear back from you soon.

Location: Port Canaria, Gran Canaria

Sender: Matilda, representative of the Council of Gran Canaria.

Mr. Galatas, i represente what is left on the Council of Gran Canaria ... at least while it exist, a group of people that never abandoned the planet, and after bretonians left, managed to organize and stabilize the situation here.

Mr. Galatas there was always corsairs around here, and the reason that they all now left it is the same that most of the local Zoner population also did ... there is a catastrophic climate change, it is snowing right now here on Port Canaria. Unless you know how to farm on frozen soil you are most welcome here. All fertile land is now frozen or it will be in the next two to three years, and when i mean frozen o really mean ice frozen. cities are being abandoned .. all regions are being abandoned, because of this climate changes. You can come and see for yourself, but let me give you an advise, bring a good coat.

This council is going to end shortly, looks like some zoners are now interested in ruling Gran Canaria, when all are basicly stable ... after the hard work is done, there is no shortage of suitors to be rulers. So maybe next time you will be talking to someone like that, but beware .. some have some friends that you and i don't like very much.

Best regards.

Matilda

Salutations,

While the ZDF has no particular claim in Gran Canaria as we are only utilizing offices here on the surface and the mooring dock in orbit, I will say that the Corsairs are most welcome to stop by Gran Canaria, as is everyone who does. The only thing that you must keep in mind is the No Fire Zone surrounding both Gran Canaria and Lanzarote Station in orbit around Planet Fuerteventura. This includes if you are attacked first. If you are attacked first, you must first get out of the NFZ in order to engage your enemies. This is to protect Zoner lives and our homes. Do not be surprised if ZDF forces open fire on you if you break this law.

With that disclaimer out of the way, concerning settlement of the surface, we can neither grant or deny you access to the planet's surface for this purpose. We had a patrol land on the other side of the planet facing the sun to verify that your old colony on the surface is still present but a little run down from the lack of upkeep. So should you decide to resettle there, you would need to bring materials to Gran Canaria yourselves to refurbish anything that needs it. Again, as a reminder, ZDF forces will not escort nor protect those ships if attacked by enemy forces unless inside the NFZ, and that is only to protect our space around the planet.

Lastly, keep in mind that Gran Canaria is currently under going a climate change due to the highly elliptical orbit of the systems Beta star. Seas are expected to sink while glaciers are expected to grow by a significant amount. Planting and growing crops will be extensively difficult in the coming years and may not be a viable option for your farmers and citizens who wish to live on the surface. The ground may be too hard to even till or dig. At present, many Zoners are considering moving to Planet Pygar and many have already done so. The population of the planet isn't what it once was before the crown invaded and took the jewel of the Omega systems for themselves.

We wish you luck in your endeavors on the surface. It will certainly not be easy and will be difficult lives for your citizens who wish to attempt resettlement at your colony.

Salutations, sir.

Greetings once more, and thank you for timely responses,

I was aware of the upcoming climate change, but given the recent efforts to restore Gran Canaria docking rings - with which our forces eagerly assisted - it's been my understanding that the planet will remain habitable at least in the short term, else all that effort would be in vain, wouldn't it?

Before I report back to the Executor, I'd like to know what exactly our eventual settler hermanos would be getting themselves into. If you could produce a basic estimated timeline for the climate changes, and whether there are any plans to counteract that with terraforming techniques, it'd be most insightful.

Commander Zane, thank you for checking up on our abandoned sites, it will lower the needed materials to set up quite drastically, should we decide to proceed. In regards to the Gran Canaria NFZ, we will of course adhere to it, wouldn't want a stray shot to hit our own settlement, si?

It is also my understanding that the political situation on the Gran Canaria is undergoing some sort of changes, given what Senorita Matilda mentioned. We will keep this channel open should any additional parties wish to respond, and perhaps clarify the current political situation on the planet.

Chairetísmata,

Since my last transmission, I came in contact with local Gran Canaria meteorologists and after assessing their records, we found the claims made by Senorita Matilda slightly exaggerated. While not comfortable, they show that at least in the short-term, the planet will will remain habitable, and as for the long term, we will have to see what efforts will be made to slow or stop the coming of the ice age. Because of the above, we will proceed with resettlement efforts as soon as we are able.

We're in the process of preparing our settlers and supplies necessary for the trip and for the restoration of our old, abandoned settlements. It will take some time, and we will send a separate communication when the convoy will disembark Crete.

Salutations,

We are more than happy to welcome you back to your settlement as long as you keep in mind the caveats we mentioned in our previous message. Additionally, feel free to reach out to independent Zoners that may wish to help supply you with the necessary materials for the rebuilding of your compound. There are many who come to Gran Canaria for visits with family and the like, they may be interested with making some extra credits supplying a fledgling colony.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Buenos Dias, Senor Galatas,

Canaria hospital still operates so if you need medical services, I still have staff there. It is no joke that the planet has gotten cold so take precautions.
Also, I have a Med Force cruiser in space should you need help there and I can have goods run to you as well.

In medical service,
Dr. John Henry Holliday
