With the establishment of a nation comes the need for a strong economy. With the formation of the Colonial Republic amongst the Tau systems, the growing faction needed to quickly organize its trading market or risk a swift collapse. To establish a source of revenue for the Colonial Republic, Integral Systems Engineering - the pioneer corporate body in the Colonial Republic's establishment in the Taus was created and it's headquarters placed in Minato Harbor.

At it's start, it had been relatively small and uncompetitive, but after several generous subsidies from the government, a mere two hundred employees and a dozen Atlas transports were almost instantly transformed into the largest Colonial corporation in existence. as well as one of the largest economical entities in the Tau area.

Owned in the largest percentage by the Colonial Nation itself, employing several thousands of Colonials, some in bureaucratic duties,
some in it's management, and others, naturally, serving as crew on it's numerous Atlas transports, the Integral Systems Engineering
serves for the shipping of all goods produced in the Taus from Colonial properties, mainly the metals and minerals(primarily niobium) mined by the
Conveyor Mineral Inc., as well as food, oil, and various other resources extracted from the strategically irreplaceable planet of Borneo located in
Tau 44, to various trading partners throughout Sirius, mainly Liberty and Kusari factions, as well as importing of the various needed
commodities from various sources.
It is the absolute largest corporation in the Colonial Nation, having a near monopole on trade, which is only prevented
by the government's measures of encouraging entrepreneurship and corporatism, and competitiveness.

With trading partners all over Sirius, especially in Kusari and Liberty, as well as the Independent Miners Guild, Integral Systems Engineering earns the biggest percentage of the Colonial Republics economic income and allows the faction to maintain the budget for the costly Colonial Fleet. Serving as the public face for a rather reclusive people, ISE represents the Colonial Republic with honor and pride.

The ISE is governed by it's director, currently William Giles, but falls, as all corporations, under the Colonial law system and the indirect
authority of the Minister of Trade and Commerce.
