Bumping this, the Kadesh HF is sold on Planet Manhattan, and it's HIDEOUS. Big ugly import sold in the very core of Liberty. Yuck. My god, get it replaced.

Finally someone started replacing the ugly homeworld ships.
Anything else than those will work for me.

homeworld ships ( HW1 ships more than HW2 ships ) are professional most of all. - their texture exceeds skinning we do most of the time ( meaning, they make less use of UV skinning but more use of customized face skinning ) - and they are ultra efficient when it comes to shape and polycount.

but they are also meant to be used in a game that runs on a weaker computer while at the same time displaying not a dozen models like freelancer at once, but rather up to a hundred at once at a much greater AI than freelancer.

all that means that the models itself are simpler - cause they don t need to be as detailed. - homeworld ships are usually seen from afar. - its their purpose to be recognized from a far distance to react to them. - thats a setting that freelancer doesn t need.

and so we can make ships that show a lot more details and make use of higher resolution textures.

homeworld ships are really good, yes - but if you place ... for example - the kushan light fighter next to the dragon, you clearly see the difference. - the dragon having something like 2.000 polygons or so - the kushan LF having something like 50 - 100 ( guess work, probably they re not that extremely different )

so its not only a matter of replacing imports - its also a matter of increasing the quality - which doesn t mean that the ships we do are really better or more professional, it just means that we can add stuff in a very unprofessional way that the homeworld designers weren t able to do for their game at that time.
