A story about a man that attempts to defeat the Nomads once and for all ((Select people are allowed to type))

Professor Alexander Sturm, a geneticist onboard the Zoner Research ship Tisiphone was sitting at his desk when the report of his wife's and child's ship had been destroyed by the Nomad assault fleet, not far from Zoner space. His face was wet from the tears that streamed from his tear ducts, he had never cried since his mother died of age some years ago, he threw the computer console of his deks, in a rage he threw everything else into the walls, smashed everything in the small cramped office, but when he came to the picture off his wife and son he went on his knees and stared at the picture, his eyes filled with grief..

Months later.

Sturm stood in his lab finishing the latest report of the Orders information about the Slomon K'Hara and what the Order Scientist's knew, and his eyes went to the lab report regarding the last series of tests on the Viral strain he had discovered on a recently undiscovered planet in Zoner space. Was it was he was looking for, yet he didnt know.

He put the papers down and continued his research of the Slomon K'Hara, while taking a sip of the coffee still cold on his table.
Cassandra Michaels walked into the office of Professor Sturm, her eyes looked at the table where atleast three cups of, atleast 6 hours old coffees where sitting and Sturm himself looked very tired, as he always did, her face watched him as he read some papers on what she guessed was Nomad reports from the Order.

She shaked her head and picked up the cold cups of coffees and looked at the normaly handsome man, now black circles around his eyes, and a beard that says: "Ive worked to long for my own good".

-Cassandra: Professor, you need to take a break, why dont you go back to your quarters and take a couple hours of rest?

Sturm looked up at her and shaked his head, his eyes to tired to look at her to long, he smiled slightly when he said:
-Sturm: "No Sandra, thanks, im fine... Need this done.."

She smiled at him and left the office, knowing that he wouldnt leave the office for the next few days. She sighd and went to the ships food area.
((All images is not accurate to real life Viral or Bacteria Strands, ive choosen the images of Both Viruses and DNA/RNA strands cause of it's apperance nothing else))

Alexander sat by his computer and typed in a number off commands into the keyboard laying in front of him, his eyes looked strained as he calculated the numbers and digits showing on the screen. The scan of the unknown Viral strand had been finished for awhile, but he did not understand the results, it was way above his head. He shook his head and continued working, only stopping to take a sip of his now cold cup of coffee. He moved his hand to the communications device laying next to the Computer and clicked it and said;
"Sandra, could you please come in with another cup off coffee please."

After a couple of seconds she responded;
"Ofcourse Professor, but.. Wouldnt you like something to eat aswell?"

He smiled as he considered it, he knew she cared for his health but he had not tought of it for awhile, but he had not eaten for atleast 10 hours, and he knew he needed to keep his strength up if he was to succeed in his work.

"Yes please, a sandwich will do just fine Sandra"

Ten minutes later she entered his office with a couple of sandwiches and a cup of coffee, she smiled at him and then returned to her own duties, his eyes stared at her as she walked out the door, but quickly down onto the screen. He was close and he knew it, instinctively he entered a series of commands to the Program, which now showed not the normal number of digits and different technical results of the scan from the Viral Strand, but an actual image of it, it showed it's properties in it's genetic make up and it's very abnormal capabilities. His jaw dropped as he read the the information gave and he gave a slight laughter as he knew what he had discovered.

He typed the name off his discovery, he was finaly one step closer to revenge, The Begining of the Hades Strand.

Cassandra had walked trough the many corridors of the Research ship, Tisiphone, but she had never walked into the engine section before, on the way there she had seen and nodded at a large number of different people, that worked onboard the Research ship, the Captain, Henrich Shultz, a former Rheinland Transport captain, had taken the ship to Gran Canaria, for repairs and to resupply the science ship.

She had taken the walk cause she werent allowed into the Proffesors office and labratory, she was annoyed, scared and worried for the man shed get to know during the last few years, why did he lock the door and told her not to disturb him. She walked trough the engine room, completely fascinated by the enormous engine and it's components. It didnt how ever relieve her worries for the professor, even if it did make her think of something else for a change, a doctor in microbiology she had been the youngest graduate out of Leeds University of Higher Learning, she had taken the oppurtunity to work with professor Sturm as he was the one she had read about most, his articles on micro-organisms in atmospheres and of the Alien Organisms found all around Sirius, he was a Genius, even if he was young, merely 43 years old. But he was so different from then, he had been so Strong and willing to learn more, now, after his wifes death, he had dig himself in his office and into his work regarding Viruses troughout known history and new ones. He had not even told her, his so called assistant. She was getting angry at his attitude and secreteness. When she arrived back in her office, he stood there, obviously waiting for her, his face had a certain glow to it, he seamed, happy?

"Come with me" He said and walked back into his labratory.

She followed, unknowing what she was about to see.
Sturm walked into the office, with Cassandra close behind, she didnt know what shed see in there, but she had a feeling that what ever it has been hes been working on, it's going to be something big.

When shed entered the room, he went back to the door and closed it, locked up and entered several commands into the door panel.

"Precautions Cassandra, dont worry" Sturm said when he turned around and saw her worried expression.

He went over to a computer terminal and waved her over..

"This is what ive been working on, luckily for me I have backups, in loads of them.. "

She looked at the screen, now showing the weird detailed report of the Micro Organism, that could be a Virus, atleast in her trained eyes. But so many things was different from what she was used to.

"What is it Professor?"

"This is the begining off a Viral Strand that I belive could spread and kill the Nomads in Sirius."

She looked at him, her eyes open wide and she stuttered;

"Is.. Is.. It real?"

He smiled at her, and he said very slowly;

"Yes my dear, I Belive it is.. Now I need a test subject"
She looked at him and looked freightened and impressed at the same time, she knew that it had been made attempts before, but all where unsucessful.

"What about their natural resistence to all diseases? Or their adaptivity?" She asked while taking a closer look at the data.

He walked away from the computer and sat down at his desk, smiling, she sat down in front of the computer now vacant and studied the data further. Her eyes flickered across the screen, and she didnt even think about Sturm, all that mattered was the data in front of her. A possibility for a end to the nomads, this was more then shed ever thought possible.

"It's not close to be a finished product Sandra, but I belive with this Viral Strand I can make a complete product.. Oh, and I named the Project. "The Hades Project" He smiled even wider at her.

She turned around and smiled at him, knowing of his love for the Ancient words hed found in the Zoner Database. She stood up and walked over to him, his ruff beard and unkempt hair, made him even more handsome, but it was his eyes that made her get more then just a little intruiged in the man. Not to mention his brilliant mind, but she could never hope for anything could happen, especially since of his ex-wifes and sons death. She sighd in her mind and went back to the computer screen and started to type in commands to change some of the data of the Viral Strand.

Behind her, Sturm had fallen asleep and was snoaring while resting in his chair. She snickered slightly and thought to herself, that this was excatly what he needed.
A few Weeks Later

The ZRS-Tisiphone was laying in wait in an asteroid field in Omega 41, the ship they where going to meet had not come yet. It had been two days and Captain Schultz was getting annoyed, he knew that what they did was important, no, more then important, but he did just not have the patience needed for waiting in systems so close to Nomad space. He sighd, and was to go get a cup of coffee when his science officer called out; "Sir, ship on scanners, seams to be a Corsair Gunboat"
The Captain looked out of the viewport and saw the ship comming closer, he smiled slightly, as he used to battle against the old Corsair Gunboats in the old days. He waved to the communications officer, a young girl b y the name of Leah, she opened a private com link to the Gunboat.
A man appeared, the rough look that most corsair pirates had and the look in his eyes told of countless battles.
"A professor Sturm wanted a certain piece of technology of us, we are ready to transfer it to your cargo bay"

Schultz nodded at the man and opened his cargo bay, a minute later the gunboat turned around and left the area in slow speed. He sent message to the cargo bay if the tech had been cargoed in; "Yes sit, we got the... Thing, and sir, it does seam active.. Are you sure it's safe?"

Schults had no idea, but he didnt he let the others know that.

"Im sure that it's safe, get it up to Professor Sturm."

Noone except Sturm and Cassandra knew what the device was... But they all where about to know what they all brought aboard.
When you look at space with mere eyes, you see nothing. Blackness consumes everything that dares to shine it's faint light in this abyss of pain and suffering.

But Kewl did not have eyes, he had scanners. Kewl did not have a brain, he had a computer. Some said that it subtracted from him, but he personally thought it was better than a human, he thought he was stronger than the weak blood and flesh of the homo sapiens that ruled this sector. However, they could feel, something that he and his siblings were unable to accomplish, no matter how hard they tried.

So, he, a member of the 40 children of the stars, rode out through ions of matter, through particles of nebulae, through rays of radiation to learn and to watch and to listen.

And it was doing this that Kewl heard the the ship. It was strange to see a ship like this so close to Corsair space, a research vessel, dealing with a corsair gunboat?

Computers and processors inside Kewl whirred and clicked, and he started scanning the two ships, hiding himself behind an asteroid while he contemplated this strange situation.

Then he heard their shriek.

His scanners turned direction, focusing on the incoming ships. 3 of them flew in formation, their organic composition lighting up alarms left right and centre all over Sirius.

As soon as a Nomad was seen by a Child, every child knew about it.

Instantly, 2 systems away, a massive hulk of metal ripped itself into life. Cruise engines charged, and the ship powered itself towards a jumphole.

Kewl powered weapons. While the situation was strange, the Research ship was still Zoner, and so he would protect it. Kewl played two audio clips over the radio waves. Both were Saker's voice.

"This is a Child of the Stars, and I shall do my duty to Eris, to the Zoners and to myself!"

Then the second clip pulsed into life.

"Blue monsters, you killed the father of the children, for this you shall be under ceaseless attack, for in this never ending black, you can not hide nor run from the fury of the children!"

Kewl sometimes thought he could feel. Sometimes he saw things that made him overcharge his weapons, ignore the safety warnings, sometimes he put himself in danger for something he thought was right...

So he threw himself forwards, the small engines powering him forwards from behind his little rock, and with his pitiful cry, and his two radio broadcasts, he went up against an enemy many times more powerful than he was.

For he was a child of the stars.
The battle outside raged on. A silly Zoner...something, trying to fend off a group of Nomad assault ships. Considdering how laughable the ship was in means of armoury and strength, the Nomads almost seemed to play with it. This however, was non of Johnathan's concern. His concern was the cargo that had been brought onto the ship just moments ago. He could already feel it's power, or atleast, he thought he could. Too much time around...Them, tends to make you think things. Espescialy those weak of mind.

Johnathan however, kept telling himself he wasn't like that. He'd find his master's prize and bring it back to them. How and when did not matter. So long as he took it back...

He pulled himself lose from the window and the fight outside and walked towards the door.

With a roar and a shriek and a cry and a growl, the Peregrine appeared. Any who said that she was not a fearful sight was a liar, and as soon as it was in range turrets whirred and clicked into place, and a second later the Peregrine started blasting the Nomads into pieces. 20 or so more children flew out of the Peregrines Nursery, engaging the nomads, and, once they were destroyed, either helping Kewl limp back to the safety of the AI cruiser or circling the massive ship.

Saker opened comms.

"Greetings Zoner and Corsair vessels, my name is Saker Kwah, Commander and protector of the Peregrine and the 40 Children of the Stars"
