//There will be a biography to follow . . . I'm too tired to write it at the moment.
Ship's log: Date of Note 8/16:

Today, a tenacious group of Liberty Rogues harassed the California system more or less unceasingly. Time and time again, Commander Barnesworth would order his ship back to California, only to have the pirates escape from under his nose.

Commander's Notation: Must obtain superior cruise disruptors for use against fighters. Reinforced disruptors horribly ineffective.

Commander's Notation: It is impossible to keep Officer Morgan off of the bridge. After he mistakenly took the ship to Texas, rather than California as ordered, I ordered him to be confined for reprehensible incompetence. Only an hour later, however, I found myself ordering him around once again, he having inexplicably escaped from the brig and made his way to his chair. I attempted all manner of confinement, from the brig, to the cargo bay, to strapping him on the outside of an airlock door, yet somehow he always managed to return to the bridge. Gah! I'll have to raise his pay.

Notable among the pirates was one Captain_Locke, whose cardamine habit and often slurred speech lead to several friendly- if slightly awkward- communications with the captain. While this is a rather severe breach of protocol, the pirate showed some interest in joining the LNS, though this resolve seemed to melt when informed that a drug test would be imposed on him the moment he landed on Battleship Missouri.

Commander's Notation: During a small skirmish with the rogues, Officer Medford flew in to two consecutive missiles fired by the Challenger. The missiles were directed at a fleeing pirate, but wound up sticking out of the officer's engines instead. Fortunately, his pod was recovered and a replacement ship provided. The officer was awarded one million credits in damages and for bravery on the battlefield.

Commander's Notation: Several pounds of Cardamine were stolen from the ship's hold today. No idea where they could have gone. Investigation considered unnecessary, as the amount was insignificant. Boy, this sure is goo-

Ahem. On his last patrol route of the day, Commander Barnesworth traveled the length of the California system, spotting Captain_Locke drifting fourteen kilometers away from the lanes. Upon further investigation, he and escorting officer Stukov discovered that the rogue had in fact lost control of his ship. As he drifted toward the sun, Commander Barnesworth eventually decided that it would be wise to save the pirate. However, given the man's recent history, a tow was unacceptable. As such, Captain_Locke was shot down and his pod recovered for interrogation and probable jail time.

Commander's Notation: Jackpot! Erm, rather, a substantial amount of cardamine was found in the wreckage. Initial reports stated that 14 units were recovered. This is a lie. Only five units were recovered. Don't bother looking for any more.

Unfortunately, this act only angered two passing Liberty Rogue bombers, who refused to leave even after being ordered by Commander Barnesworth to stand down. In the fight that ensued, Commander Stukov's cruiser and even the LNS Challenger were severely damaged. While casualty rates were low, the ship damage was so extensive that Commander Barnesworth's vessel had to be mostly rebuilt after recovery.

Record-keeper's Notation: Commander Barnesworth came under scrutiny after the destruction of his vessel, as the loss of his communications officer, Katelyn Powell, struck a deep chord of rage in his heart. He was out of sorts for weeks, but after coming under review for his disturbing behavior, he seemed to shape up immediately. It is suspected that the commander was in love with the aging lieutenant, but the Navy High command has chosen to retain him, valuing his skills as a commander above any possible misdemeanors in this area.

End of Record.
