Introduction
The Tactical Assessment and Logistical Operations Network (TALON) group is a Private Military Company (PMC) operating from Rheinland space to supply corporations and governments with military grade weapons, vehicles and manpower. There are two divisions within Talon, one of which is the actual PMC itself, the Contract Execution Division (CED), and the Research and Development Division (R&D). The main job of the CED is to setup contracts with corporations, organizations and governments to facilitate a steady flow of income while he R&D Division conducts research to improve the ships that Talon agents fly to improve their performance in combat.
That is, however, only the official statement of the TALON. There are in fact, multiple rumours surrounding this corporation itself, including its origins.
Rumour has it that just before the government of Liberty declared war on Rheinland; the Liberty Security Force (LSF) had started a Top Secret Experiment Pilot Training Program in which hundreds of randomly chosen LSF agents were selected for the program (against their will). The program itself was based on insurgent warfare, designed on crippling the Rheinland economy from within Rheinland itself. The program was also, highly based on brainwashing techniques. Most of the training and brainwashing took place near a restricted area and within some classified locations, away from the public eye
In mid 817A.S. however, an incident occurred near the confined location where due to pirates, a civilian trade convoy strayed away from the trade lanes and came too close to the minefield at restricted zone (without knowing since their Neural Nets were being jammed) and saw the experimental training take place. The LSF officers in charge of the training took care of the convoy before they were able to report anything.
Almost immediately after the incident however, the training program was cancelled, as LSF deemed that the Liberty Navy would be able to finish off Rheinland Military without the need of this program, although the war would go on for a longer period of time. Due to the implications of the public finding out the program, as well as the fact that they didnt need this program for the war anymore, the LSF cancelled the program, and subsequently covered up the program as well by destroying training locations, the documents related to the program, as well as the very pilots and others who were selected for this program as well.
Most of these pilots were brainwashed, so the thought that their country was attempting to finish them off came too late. Some pilots began to notice that of the few hundred that were chosen for the program, only a few dozen remained. The pilots may have been brainwashed, they were however not dumb. Their training including intelligence gathering, and they had finally concluded that since the LSF no longer required this program, they would be killed off to prevent their capture by Rheinlanders, and the interrogation that might occur from the Rheinlanders. For most of these pilots, due to the brainwashing, they found it a horror, and at first refused to believe this was true. However, as they began to notice their numbers began to decrease drastically, most finally agreed they could no longer stay within Libertonian borders, and that they had to escape if they were to survive. Pilots began to desert their normal patrolling posts and headed away from Liberty. Some were being followed, and were subsequently being taken out, one by one by other LSF operatives. Only a few remaining dozen managed to escape successfully towards the other houses, obtaining fake IDs as well as other necessary materials they would need to survive in the foreign houses.
When these pilots arrived to the other houses, most kept silent rather than reveal that they were part of a Top Secret Experimental Pilot Training Program. They knew LSF hired freelancers everywhere in Sirius to keep an eye on things that may be of their concern. All of the pilots also kept communications between each other absolutely limited, unless it was necessary, they knew LSF was watching. It was still a shock to them that their own country was killing their own citizens. Some killed themselves, thinking that they would be shocked by what happened to them for the rest of their lives. The pilots even found it hard to live in their new lives. They found it difficult to get along with other people because of the fact that people couldnt understand what they had been through. They found it difficult to get jobs as well. Some were constantly on the run, while others were in hiding. Their lives were extremely not easy.
One of the pilots within the program, Shana OHara escaped to Rheinland under a fake ID. Her life in Rheinland, just as it were anywhere else for these pilots, was complicated. The one advantage she found however that being in Rheinland meant more freedom for her, since the chances of LSF activity were much lower due to the war. She took this opportunity to begin a career being a mercenary, which was ideal considering her training gave her an advantage. She did have flaws however, since the training was experimental as well as incomplete. Soon, she made enough money to begin searching for the other pilots that were part of the experimental training program as well. She managed to find a few pilots, and they found their lives to be much easier with each other, considering they all knew what each person had been through under the LSF. Most of these pilots still had no form of employment, and Shana came up with a solution for that: She created a PMC known as the Tactical Assessment and Logistics Operations Network (TALON), which would function as a form of employment as well as a comfortable livelihood for the pilots who were part of the experimental training program.

When Shana OHara found the scientists, she created a new division within TALON known as the R&D Division which would focus on creating an abandoned LSF AI project. This AI project was developed in order to support TALON agents in combat by providing statistics of the situation, survivability rates, analysis of enemy ships maneuvering etc. The R&D Division was also in charge of completing TALON training. None of the TALON pilots had completed their training since the program was cancelled halfway through, thus one of the R&D Divisions objectives is also to find a way to complete their training so that TALON pilots do not have any flaws. This is however, considered a long term goal since there are very few clues on completing their training.
The AI project that the TALON R&D was in charge of was dubbed the Computer Assisted Biologically Augmented Life form (CABAL). As its name implies, CABAL was augmented by numerous human beings who were being kept alive within stasis tubes and whose brains had been integrally linked to, and synchronized with, the AI's system core to significantly enhance the device's overall potential and abilities in a vast multitude of ways. The individual who essentially power CABAL were all volunteer scientists and other TALON agents. They are still kept alive due to the stasis tubes they are in, and can regain consciousness if CABAL was terminated. TALON uses CABAL as its Tactical and Logistics Console, and inserts it in every ship that TALON agents use. CABAL however is still in development, and only a beta is used.
Recruitment within TALON is available, although nearly 98% of everyone who applies gets rejected. TALON recruitment is only available to those who were part of the experiment training program whether they were pilots or scientists. TALON does however keep this a deep secret as they do not want the LSF to find out who they are. Several people, including experienced pilots had applied, but had been rejected since they were not a part of the program. TALON has never made a single exception to this (unofficial) rule.
All these were however, simplyrumors. No one has yet identified or brought up evidence for any of these rumors to be true.
