Doctor's Final Review:

The man we have simply named "Luctor et Emergo" as our case file here on Quillan has been passed between heads of staff in the medical community for some time, a tragic case study by some doctors who seek fields of cybernetics and neural surgery, as well a mystery as to whom the pilot is himself. Since the postmortem of the battle of Languedoc's minefield, opening the way to Orkney, we found the life pod, unejected from a drifting "Spatial" class exploration vessel, the rest of the crew had perished as the ship's hull was struck by weapon's fire during the battle, disabling the ship's primary systems, the man then was an adolescent who was stabilized in the pod. Medical teams found that the young man then had a six inch piece of slag metal, most likely from the combat that disabled the Spatial, embedded behind his left ear, damaging what had been his motor functions, memory, and medulla oblangata, his ability to control anger and cope with stress.

As he remained in an unresponsive state there was little hope in reviving him without radical surgery, so with the agreement of the heads of staff from many of the Council medical teams, we removed the slag piece and implanted a revolutionary piece that was developed by one Doctor Malfieus, one of our best cybernetics researchers, to do essentially what his brain no longer could. So, after implanting the piece the child was pulled out of surgery and the device went to work, attempting to stabilize his brain and repair what it could. After a week, the adolescent awoke and was immediately diagnosed with Amnesia and in his state was easily set off into deep tantrums and rage. We found this problematic, so the good Doctor Malfieus labored to create a unique "Aggression Inhibitor" implant, one we later found needed replaced regularly due to the extent of strain it suffers, and made the young Luctor et Emergo suitable to rehabilitate.

Researchers of the Spatial vessel found it originated from Sirius indeed, and that the family on board was headed for a deep-space station, obviously had gotten off course and ended up using jump holes to reach the Languedoc minefield. Their destination is quite unsure, though with the young man's amnesia, we can only hope one day that he might recall at least faintly whom he was.

Now that he has essentially spent the last few years in care with the Council on Quillan, he shown an immediate interest in piloting space vessels, of course his primary benefactor, Doctor Malfieus, spent time refitting a fighter vessel with the ability to hard-link with his cybernetic implants fully. This presents us a unique pilot who's abilities to monitor a ship go beyond simple looking at screens, in fact, he literally 'knows' his vessel. Of course, each vessel takes a length of time to fit with this special gear, though with enough research Doctor Malfieus has suggested the ability for a sole pilot to control large-scale vessels with little to no help, beyond his own implant and training. In the end, Luctor Emergo, as we named him, is a case study not only in the medical field, but in a future for a new generation of pilots perhaps.
