Thrace Montague was one of the most promising students to ever graduate from the Cambridge Academy of Applied Mathematics, and was in the process of applying for a research grant into something that only he could even begin to grasp.

Until the Corsairs came.

Thrace was taking part in the annual graduation cruise around the Cambridge system. Corsair's attacked and boarded the cruiser, killing any who resisted and taking all else prisoner for ransom. This worked outn fine for the other prisoners, they had families to pay their ransom. Thrace however was forced to confront the Bretonian Government's 'No Negotiation' policy, and feared he would never make it out alive.
After realising that their last prisoner was never going to yield fruit, one particularly nasty Corsair thought it would be fun to jettison him into space inside the smallest escape pod he could find.

Thrace drifted for an eternity, slipping in an out of conciousness, awaiting inevitable death through carbon dioxide poisoning or celestial intervention. Intervention came in the form of Casper Jones, who rather casually pointed a gun at his chest and questioned him thoroughly as to why he thought a packaging crate was a viable means of interstellar travel. Thrace explained the past events, and his now burning desire for revenge against the Corsairs.

As luck would have it, Jones as precisely the thing he needed. Thrace was offically recuited into the Liberty Rogues, working as a navitagor for Jones running hull panels from Bretonia to Liberty until, with a generous recommendation from his captain, he transferred to the fighter corp.

Thrace now spends his days honing his piloting skills in the hope that someday soon he will have his fill of Corsair blood.
