//This story is told as the 2 brothers goes on with their lifes in Sirius. The story mostly covers the bigger events that are effecting them both. Consider it a diary as that would be the closest description of how the story is told.

The Ogisawa brothers

Story begins..

My name is Jin Tuan Ogisawa, 40 years old, no family, that i know of anyway.. at current date.

Well.. where shall I begin? My story starts on Kyushu. My father was a traditional rice farmer for many years. The farm we lived on had been in our generation since Kyushu got it's first inhabitants. Ogisawa Rice was sold to customers in almost every corner in Sirius.
Then the Synth paste came and nearly took over the whole food market. The Shogunate started to issue new farming directives in an atempt to further develope the planet. Many farms were sold to Samura Industries who needed land for their laboratories in order to produce a synthetic form of rice.
Synth Paste and synthetic rice was the new melodie in Sirius and the demand for traditional rice dropped like a stone.
My father refused to sell his farm to Samura industries and he kept on the traditional way for as long as he could, stubborn as he was. Even he had to face fact in the end, and the family resources was almost depleted. Most farmers organized themselfs and started The Farmers Alliance as a protest to the brutal changes that has been forced upon them. My father refused to join them though. 'Violance is a mans last alternative', he allways said. He had to swallow his pride at some point and one day he finally decided to give in. He sold his farm to Samura Industries, bought a BWT (Border World transport) and took me, my younger brother and my mother to New Tokyo.

My father startedas an independant businessman, transporting goods all over Sirius. He developed a close relation to the Zoners who allowed him to even join some of their convoys which offered good protection by their escort fighters.
I guess all went too well, and over time my father lost all respect for the value of credits. A business partner of his introduced him to the world of gamble, and needless to say, after only 2 years, he had lost his whole firm, ship and nearly all our savings. We were desperate and devistated.
About 1 year later, living on scraps and wellfare of others, my father finally found a job at Deep Space Engineering. He was posted on Pittsburgh and started working as a Miner. My mother and smaller brother stayed behind in New Tokyo, and I who was 19 at the time followed my father to Pittsburgh.

The working contract my father signed when we got there, was extended every other year.
Years went by and at the age of 23 I decided to walk in my fathers footsteps, and I signed up aswell for the work in one of the many mines. We kept the contact with my mother and smaller brother as often as we could. I was told that my brother had developed an interrest in politics, but that he was considered a lonewolf for the sake of his opinions. 'Stubborn as our father..' I when I heard my brother tell me about the life in the government halls. I also heard many stories about what went on 'behind the curtains' and that money could buy roughly any politician in the government.

I decided not to pay that much attention at the time. I had my work to focus on in the mine and I had started to get used to the enviroment after 19 years as a miner. My father died in a mine accident 11 years after we arrived on Pittsburgh. I took a week of from work and brought my fathers body back to Kyushu and my family and I held the funeral there. I guess he would have wanted that.
Years went by and I started to develope a good relation with the many working buddies I had there, and every weekend at the bar with, drunk to the boot, I told everyone about my dream of getting my own miner vessel and head out in space to mine for Niobium. It didnt take long until people started calling me for Joe Nio instead of Jin Tuan. I saved as much as I could and even made some cash by sercretly selling some of the ore I found to those that was willing to buy.

One day, my world crumbled when I got a message from my mother that my brother had mysteriously dissappeared and that he had been gone for over 2 weeks without a word from him. I took a vacation and traveled home to New Tokyo to support my mother, and to start an investigation on my own. After 2 months of snooping around in every file I could find about my brother, my mother also dissapeared. I even got a warning that i should "stop putting my nose in government affairs, or else..".

I then took all my savings, payed some creepy fella to take me to the only organization I knew openly opposed the Kusari Government, The Blood Dragons. I bought a Katana from an old member of the dragons and went out on smaller missions, and as my reputation grew among the Dragons I decided to stay for as long as I could among the Dragons in order to and avenge my brother and mother. I heard about a special group among the Dragons that called them selves The Rising Sons. I decided to make contact with those and hopefully join them. I had been underground in the mines on Pittsburgh for many years, not knowing much about what was going on in the world outside. I tried to learn as I went along, but I figured that the best move for me would be to get some guidance from people who knows the rules of this universe by heart.

I followed up every clue I got but had to give up after a few months. I even started to doubt that there was such a group. I continued to fly a copple of missions on my own for the Blood Dragons, but realized that blasting a few Kusari police or navy vessels now and then was 'small potatoes' (farm language) for the Shogunate and the Kusari Government. The Blood Dragons didn't look to kind on people who wanted to leave their organization. That I knew, so I had to make them belive I've died in a dogfight with the Kusari police or navy. I took a suicide mission that would most likely bring me face to face with a dozen fighters.
I got into my Katana, started the engines and flew away, never to return. I broadcasted a call for help while I fired my blasters into the emptyness of space, as if I was in battle. I yelled that I was overpowered by the Kusari Police and that I most likely wouldn't make it back in one piece and then I turned off the comm's in the middle of my speech as if someone finally blew up my ship. I felt very satisfied over that little stunt and I found myself huming in the cockpit after a while. I laughed out laudly - Joe, get a grip on yourself! I said, you still have to cross half Sirius to get to a safe haven.

I knew about the war bewteen Bretonia and Kusari, and my plan was to sign up for the Bretonia Armed Forces, if they would have me that is. I was after all from Kusari space and I wouldn't exactly blend in with my appearance. I trusted my good fortune that had brought me so far and set the coordinates for Planet Leeds through the edge systems in Sirius.

It was a sunny afternoon, the recruitment officer had made him self a cup of afternoon tea. He sat down, lifted up the cup and was just about to take the first sip when he heard three knocks at the door.
-*sigh*, cant a man sit down and enjoy a cup of tea for 2 minutes before someone decides to stumble in and break the peace??
He sat there with the cup in his hand looking at the door and couldn't quite decide wether to ignore the one outside or tell the person to enter.
The person outside waited a moment, looked at a sign beside the door that said "Openhours: 8 am - 6 pm".
He briefly glanzed on his wristwatch, even though he knew that he was well inbetween the openhours explained on the sign.
-Weird.. He decided to try the handle on the door. It was open, so he stepped inside. Before him sat an officer staring at him with his mouth and eyes wide open with a cup in his hand. The officer suddenly reached for his sidearm when the person that stood in the doorway said.
-Calm down officer. Yes, I know that I'm not from around here. My appearance tells you that I'm from one of the planets in Kusari space. well.. New Tokyo to be exact, or Kyushu.. never mind.. that's a long story.
-What do u want? The officer asked without letting go of the cup.
-I'm here to sign up for Bretonian Navy. He looked at the officer and gave the officer a while to let the information sink in. - You wonder offcourse why.. To make a long story very short. I have a warrent on my head in Kusari because I fail to share the same opinions as the government in Kusari, and I may have angered them a bit by blowing up some of their ships. The family I have left, smaller brother and my old mother, has gone missing for more than 7 months now. I have strong reasons to belive that the Shogunate is behind their dissapearance. I have been on the run during that time, doing what damage I could to their fleet.
The officer took out a paper from the top drawer and started to fumble for a penn.
-errm.. yes, fill in your name etc here, and I will see what I can.. The officer paused to have one more look at the asian looking man that stood before him. -..do for you.
The man grabbed the paper and pen and wrote:

Name: Jin Tuan Ogisawa (Alias Joe Nio)
Birthplace: Kyushu, grew up on New Tokyo
Age: 40
Previos battle experince: Some
Any criminal activities in the passed: The Shogunate most likely thinks so, yes
If 'yes', please specify in short: I signed up as a solo pilote for the Blood Dragons for a few months
Your current call sign: Joe.Nio

Joe looked down on the application form. He went thrue the events that had led him here to Leeds in Bretonia. Very well, he thought. Lets stick around here for a while and see what happens. Joe handed over the paper to the officer. The officer hesitated for about three seconds. -Yes.. ehhmm, put it on my desk. Processing your application might.. He glanced at the paper, ..take a while Mr.Ogisawa. But we are a tad short of folks on this base at the moment, so I tell you what, laddie. Report in for duty to the officer for planetary defense. He has his office down the hall here. second door on the right.
He looked at Joe once more. - Tell him Paul sent you. Joe followed the direction, walked down the hall and knocked on the second door to the right. He heard a voice inside say -You may enter.
Joe got acquainted with an old officer during my stay on Leeds, who assigned him to a small division of the planetary defense of Leeds while Joe waited for the application to be processed. Due to lack of funds because of the war on the Kusari, Joe had to try and find a suitable vessel on his own. He bought an older version of the Templar, had it repaired and armed. Joe also Joe came across a damaged Bretonian Bomber, The Challenger, which I had repaired and suited up for service in the planetary defense.

An important piece of biography that needs to be told...

Aramin woke up. Slowly and with a headake that was beyond a pain he had never felt before.
He opened up one eye carefully, as if the lights soul purpose in the room was to hurt him even further.
Everything was a blure, and he slowly opened his other eye. The light was too painful and he decided to close his eyes again. He began to wonder how he got to that bed he was in. He laid there for quite a while until his mind was able to put some pieces together. He only remembered fractions of his life during the last months.
He could hear someone open a door to his room, and that this 'someone' approached his bed.
- Good afternoon, Aramir. Slept well have we? The stranger asked him.
- Afternoon..? Aramir..? My name is Joyshi Ogisawa. Where.. am I? Joyshi slowly made a new try to open his eyes, with a little more success this time. He could see that the stranger was wearing a white robe and that he had the typical concerned look of a doctor.
- Joyshi Ogisawa you say? Interresting indeed. Every Zoner that has been here from time to time asking about your health has called you Aramir.
- Yes.. Joyshi said. I remember that name, but not how I got it. And why do I have this.. killer headake?
- You have been under the knife, joyshi. the doc replied. You had a small device in your neck, and we were able to remove it with some surgery. The doc placed his hand on Joyshi's forehead. - The fever is gone and you should be up walking within one or two days.
- Zoners..? Ahh yes.. I was a transport pilote in their faction for some time, wasn't I? Joyshi tried to sit up but gave that up as the headake punished him severly for such an atempt.
- Joyshi, there has been a man here asking for you aswell. Some big shot businessman from Porto Novo.
- Big shot aye? The voice came from the doorway. - Well, I guess that title aint that far from the truth so I will consider it a compliment, rather than an inofficial insult as it was probably meant to be.
The man in the doorway walked up to the bed, strechted out his right hand and said. - Egon Cress is the name. Joyshi slowly took his hand and shaked it a bit. - I have been observing you and your travels through out Sirius. I understand that you are a man with very little fear of pirates, terrorists and even nomads. Egon paused and looked at Johshi as if he tried to read Joyshi's reaction to what he has said so far.
Joyshi gave him a tired look. well.. maybe, but..? Egon interrupted him. - You need to rest, Joyshi, so I will go straight to the point of my visit here. I want to hire you. I buy the ship you have from you and provide you with a Whale instead. I need a pilote of your standard. I'll give you the routes and you fly them. Very simple. Egon gave Joyshi a typical businessman smile. - So mate, what do you say?
- Well.. I dont know. Reisiger might.. Egon interrupted joyshi again. - Ahh yes. Reisiger.. I've heard about him. Strict man, with a high respect of most faction in Sirius. Egon looked out the window. - I can asure you that the routes you fly for me will be as a Zoner, but you will fly as an independant Zoner. I will have you know that I share that respect with Reisiger, for the factions in Sirius and I intend in no way to trespass, nor haul goods with a questionable character. Egon looked down on Joyshi again. So, what do you say? Do we have an agreement? Egon strechted out his hand again.
Joyshi looked up at Egon. This was his chance, a shortcut to be a captain of a Whale -Sure Egon.. we have a deal. Joyshi shaked Egon's hand again. - I will resign from OSI as soon as I'm able to get up from this bed.

Joe started to get somewhat frustrated. 2 weeks have passed and still not a word from the recruitment office. He began to wonder if the officer actually had sent his application for processing. It was quite obvious after all that the recruitment officer wasn't exactly thrilled to have Joe joined the regular fleet. He went down to the recruitment office again the same afternoon, knocked at the door and stepped inside without waiting for a reply. A woman stood beside the desk. Joe assumed she was a secretary of a sort. - Good afternoon, miss. My name is Joe..ehh.. Jin Tuan Ogisawa. I turned in my application 2 weeks ago. I've had second thoughts since then, so could you be so kind and tell the recruitment officer that he can call off the signing up..process, or what ever you people call it. I'm leaving. The woman looked surprized at Joe and replied.
- Yes, ofcourse mr Ogisawa. I will leave him a note. Joe gave the woman a nod. -Thanks. Good bye.
He turned around and walked out.

Joe landed on Planet Los Angeles 2 days after he left Leeds. He looked up an old aquintance of his father who had a small shop on Planet Los Angeles. He stayed and worked for him a few weeks. But as time went by Joe came to realize that he already missed the time he had as a fighter pilote. He figured, since he now lived in Liberty and taking advantage of the safety the Liberty Navy was providing the inhabitants of Liberty space, he could might as well sign up for them instead.

To be continued...
