The Warriors Nemesis and Garrus walked slowly into a large, dark, barren room, lit only by 2 lights which shone down from the centre of the concave roof. The large oak door was barred behind them. The Mandalore sat alone on a simple chair on the far side. There were two small objects in his lap, which the warriors could not make out at the distance.

The Mandalore gestured towards the two spotlights, and the two men took their places under them.

"Mandalore, I..", the man known as Nemesis stammered, then stopped speaking as the Mandalore gave another gesture, and a look calculated to nip any argument in the bud.

The Mandalore was holding a piece of paper. He stood from his chair and read from it now.

"You have the right to remain silent, you have the right to an attorney...." His voice trailed off and he crumpled the paper and threw it on the floor.

"Those are the words you would now be hearing were this Bretonia, or Liberty.."

He paused then spoke more firmly.

"This is NOT Bretonia or Liberty. Your trial ended when I finished watching the evidence against you!"

He slid a knife along the floor towards each man, they both stooped to pick up the serrated, evil-looking blades.

Murcyur. The ancient duelling weapon of the Mandalorians.

"I have decided that you shall fight to the death." To give added weight to his words, the Mandalore pulled a .45 calibre pistol out of his robes, chambered a round, and held it in his right hand.

The men looked at each other and the Mandalore in horror, then Garrus shook his head and dropped his weapon.

"No..", he said softly.

The Mandalore shrugged, raised his pistol and fired a round past Garrus's ear. He was a good shot. He then spoke.

"Have it your way. I have 11 rounds left. Plenty left to put you both down like dogs."

"You can fight with honour, and one of you will die. Or you can both be full of holes. Within one minute."

Garrus reluctantly picked up the knife.

"Begin.", Bishop commanded.

The two men began circling each other. Garrus had longer reach and was taller, but an educated observer quickly could tell that Nemesis had the advantage in technique.

Garrus lunged, and slipped past Nemesis, who moved silently and swiftly, opening up Garrus's knife arm with a side stroke.

Whatever doubts Garrus had about fighting ended with that, and he turned with a snarl and lunged again.

Which rashness ended his life.

Nemesis sidestepped the blow deftly, and quickly backslashed his own knife.

Against the other man's throat.

Garrus died a gurgling death while the Mandalore watched impassively. Once the man's death throes were over, and he had stopped being a person, to become a thing only, the Mandalore slowly walked over and picked up the dead man's Murcyur, and held his hand out to receive Nemesis's blade.

As he handed his blade to the Mandalore, Nemesis spoke quietly. "He was my friend."

"I know.", answered William. "Your penance is complete."

He had no small sympathy for the man before him, but he could not show it.

"Report to Diane Blane in Omicron Theta. You will be stationed there until Liberty cools down."

Nemesis nodded, face ashen, and walked out of the room in slow motion, still in shock.

William looked at the corpse at his feet in distaste.

He wished the Dha'wherd were still around at times, to take care of dirty work like this.
