So many people, so many innocent people... he thought while the light of burning plasma lightened his face. And I am guilty for their death. If I wouldnt have shown up here they might still be alive...
A salvo of corsair neutron projectiles tore him out of his thoughts. The fight was still going on. One of their fighters had already been taken down before the fight and the two bombers started to run at the moment the transport exploded. Talans wingmen were already on their tails. The second Fighter however was right now shooting at his ship from the right side. It was the one Talan was shooting at before the incident.
Talan turned right and fired up his thrusters to leave the corsairs line of fire. His ship was faster than the one of the corsair so he was able to leave the area his enemy could use his guns and turn towards him. While his targeting device locked the target and the corsair turned himself, Talan was sure there was nothing this guy could hide behind this time. He jousted towards his target who replied in the same way, counting on the bigger armour and stronger shields of his ship. Several salvos of particle fire hit the corsairs shield and disable it. At that time the two ship were at a distance of less than 100 meters from each other. Talan launched his missiles and did a hard turn to the left to avoid his enemy. The shrapnels and scrap parts passing his ship seconds later told him about the success of his manoeuvre.
Meanwhile the other bounty hunters had been able to stop the fleeing bombers and were busy taking them down. It was obvious it wouldnt take long until two more bounties would have been collected.
But he wasnt celebrating the victory. He thought about all the passengers on the transport who died when the ship exploded. His scanners showed only a few emergency pods. Not even a dozen. And one of them was that blasted corsair who was hiding behind that ship. However, the corsairs manoeuvre made that missile crush into the ship and blow up the engines, but it was him who had been firing it in the first hand. So it was his fault, he was the one who killed all those innocents
The bounty hunter fighter turned on his engines and moved closer to one of the emergency pods. As soon as he was in weapon range, he fired a missile and activated his cruise engines afterwards, heading for the next trade lane. Shortly afterwards one of the small contacts on his scanners vanished as the corsair emergency pod got vaporized. Talan Davis headed towards the Omega-3 gate and left Bretonia without collecting the money for the two corsairs he had taken down
