Within lays the planetside home of the Bretonian ambassador and the many halls and offices devoted to the diplomatic relations of the Kingdom of Bretonian and the Federal Republic of Rheinland that is the embassy.

Evyn Hunter sat in a shaded corner of the room, occupying a booth alone. Outside, the New Berlin diplomatic compound's ball room, which usually served the function of a meeting hall and bar, was garishly decorated in bright colors. Clustered in twos and threes, Bretonian, Rheinland, and Kusari diplomats, aids, and other political servants sat discussing news, the wars, pirate activity, relations, and too often, inconsequential matters common in an off-duty bar.

She watched the people move around through a slit in the privacy shades while she nursed her drink, just enjoying the solitude and mellow background rumble of meaningless babbling. Still another group was more nomadic, wandering around the grand room to look at the various pieces of old art, sculptures, and Old-Earth architecture. The interior had been modeled after the designs used in historic Old-Earth palaces and mansions.

Evyn turned her gaze back to the laptop she had brought along.
Lenora Schneider entered the room wearing a simple green dress adorned only by a small black ribbon. Swearing under her breath at locating a patch of engine oil in part of her hair, she swiftly headed to the bar and sat down. Most of the boring dignitaries didn't hang around at the bar itself, after all- the new Bretonian ambassador was pleasant to talk to, but the majority of the people around were two or three times her age and two or three times less interesting. She looked around, hoping to see the MI5 agent who had asked to share a drink, but he didn't seem to be around.

"He's probably just running late... not that I'm surprised..." Lenora mumbled. Hoping to pass the time, she flagged down the barkeep. "One of those over there, please..."

"That's strong stuff, you know."

"I'm a Rheinwehr flag officer."

"Coming right up."
His tie wasn't even tied as he used his shoulder to push through one of the doors, though without realizing it he stumbled through as the door automatically opened for him. "I hate running late." He mumbled, fumbling with his tie.

He finally came to the entrance of the bar still fumbling around with his tie while scanning the room. "Oi, did it even accrue to you that she was wearing her helmet still and you didn't really know what she looked like? Damn you're such an idiot. Makes you wonder why MI5 hired you to begin with." He was heard rambling on to himself as he made his way to the bar and sat down at one of the empty chairs. "Anything that's good for dealing with a clown. Uhm, actually make that a sidewinder fang." He nodded to the barkeeper who only shook his head and walked away, bringing back a sidewinder fang and sitting it down in front of him. "Oh and uh, you wouldn't happen to have seen a beautiful Rheinland flag officer would you?"

The barkeep nodded towards a lass in a green dress nearby then walked away. "Yeah, so, sorry I'm late." He got up and moved a couple seats down bringing with him his drink he had ordered. "Names John." He said with a bit of a smile, and then added a wink.
"Sure it is." Lenora shook her head lightly then drank a healthy portion of her drink. "So, sidewinder fang? No taste to it, almost as bad as the stuff Liberty calls 'ale'. Here, try a bit of this. If you're man enough for it, that is..."

While 'John' contemplated the golden, strangely ominous liquid before him, Lenora caught a glance of a small woman off in the corner with a laptop. Her hair was just settling as Lenora looked at her, but other than that she seemed to be staring quite intently at whatever she was doing. An expression of mild amusement crossed Lenora's face before she turned back to 'John'.
Lafiel found herself amazed by the architecture as her shuttle came to land within the embassy grounds though she found her time admiring the beautiful construction that was the embassy was cut short as soon as Lafiel had landed stepping off the shuttle she found herself being harassed by people at first it was her chief of staff who although seemed old had bounded into the shuttle as soon as it touched down like a true athlete of less than a quarter his age he had proceded to manouver her onto the landing were the embassies contingent stood lining the pathway at attention.

Lafiel had known there would be ceremony but nothing like this, her chief of staff whose name she hadn't heard over the din and loud noise of the crowd that had gathered was ushering her faster and faster towards the building. Lafiel had caught a glimpse of the beautiful gardens outside and the extremely high walls that seemed to be dated even to the victorian era alas it was no less beauitful.

The halls were decorated with magnificent paintings her heart truely yearned to explore the embassy grounds alas everything began whizzing by as a gentle hand dragged her along the high ceilinged hallways and up a rather grand stairwell with a fountain at the bottom eventually they stopped at double doors which she had surmised she was now at the top of the building or not far off it. Two guards stood on either side of the enormous arched doors they ceremoniously opened it which seemed curious to her as the doors didn't look heavy enough to warrant an entire man to move each. Yet maybe they did looks could be deceiving as the doors swung to giving forth to an ante chamber with 2 more double doors and guards. They gingerly opened these ones and the doors gave way to the most illustrious furnished dining room to ever behold it was like one of the staterooms back home at the manor of Araluen. She heard the soft click as the doors closed behind them the man that was Lafiel's new chief of staff gestured around him to which Lafiel followed her eyes observantly noticing various doors off to other places in addition to a rather small entourage that seemed to of accompanied them people with suitcases were the primary people. Turning back to the chief of staff she realised he was in an almost military formal uniform he spoke his accent thickly Rheinlander yet his mannerisms were Bretonian through and through which amused Lafiel, "Well my Countess welcome to New berlin and the Bretonian Embassy at last it has only finished construction in recent months although we have been preparing you arrival for what seems like an eternity. Anyhow sorry about the rush I was just saving you the comotion of the crowd. This Suite of rooms you see around you is your new home bedroom is over there study there with a small library etc etc I'm sure you will find your way around and get settled in my lady."

Lafiel exhausted after the chief of staff had gone through many things had finally gotten in a word to say that she wanted a small drinks and nibbles even for the escort that had brought her in to berlin safely though of course staff of the embassy could attend it was to be a very relaxed thing she would pay for it personally. At hearing this he had quickly discussed it and quickly excused himself to do her bidding and surprisingly enough when the time had come everything was ready even though it had been a minutes heads up truely Lafiel knew that her chief of staff was going to be someone she could rely on.

She found herself standing around the function room she wasn't sure what to drink but had decided to settle for something from rheinland so she had asked the bartender to surprise her. She had gone from the bar to speaking with people how ever she now stood alone at one of the corners of the room observing everyone. She was wearing a beautiful light blue dress made in a true victorian era design though she was a little unsure about the light blue ribbon that was tied in a neat little bow gently holding her long blonde hair in place revealing her paler gentle alibaster features, she wanted the respect of her position not to be looked down upon as a child yet in truth she concluded she didn't mind the ribbon. She sat standing on her own sipping the extremely strong bitter drink which had at first made her grimace to which she had quickly covered up before anyone could see with a smile and made an effort to enjoy it.

As she observed more closely she believed she could pick out who was who even when she was trying her damndest to blend in the crowd so as to stem the tidal wave of people meeting and greeting her extending their appreciation and delight for her presence. In truth she thought she might rather be happier meeting the Kanzler at the formal ceremony ahead which in truth meeting him made her very nervous such a powerful figure as he yet she did not let her nerves forestall the ceremony and pushed her best to get all the formalities passed.
While she was looking away, John picked up the glass. Apparently it was hers, he shrugged a bit and took a sip and winced slightly. She was right about it being stronger than the sidewinder Fang. When she looked back over he sat the glass back down and smiled gently. "Bloody thing is better than what I ordered."

He reached for the glass once more and waved the bartender over. "Lad, think you can get me some of this?" The bartender nodded and wandered off to get another of whatever this mysterious golden drink was. "So, I don't think we've properly introduced ourselves." He said turning his attention back on the Rheinwehr officer.
Lafiel stood wondering to herself as she observed everyone if she should make it a common occurence to open the function room one night per week for such joys to the people. She sighed both at the foreseen people all advising her against such a thing but most at the sight of her chief of staff who she still hadn't learnt his name it was most probably some important issue but it could surely wait till later this evening now was not the appropriate time she had more or less just arrived she saw an opening in the scantly spread people present this evening and took it as fast as she could a gentle walk hiding behind people with her back to the chief of staff.

She suddenly saw one of the faces she had seen earlier from her little place in the room it was one of about four bretonian faces that hadn't been standing lined from the landing pad through the embassy. So there was a good chance that it was one of the two agents especially as he was speaking to a rheinland girl this could only be the male voiced agent that she had heard over the comm system. She smiled suddenly as she turned her head back the chief of staff had suddenly found himself occupied talking to someone it was her chance to get over to the bar were these two people were standing and even if they weren't the people she thought they were it would be at least someone she could chat to.

Lafiel Agile and graceful manouvered around the various people till she had arrived in front of them unnoticed they seem to be in some kind of a drinking contest. She placed her empty glass upon the bar top and the barman cleared it away with a slight bow to her she suddenly found herself with another drink that she hadn't wanted of a name she had no idea. "I um....what..", Lafiel began to say in questioning why he had given her another drink he smiled beaming and made an apt attempt to predict Lafiel's words he spoke with his thick accent, "Eiswein meine Gr?fin. It is a special drink rheinland is most famous for." Lafiel gestured the bartender to repeat himself as he did so Lafiel stopped him at the end of his own language. She puzzled over the words for a moment breaking them up in her head Eis wein meine Gr?fin and repeated them back to him in english, "Ice wine and then you said my countess didn't you Gr?fin is the word for Countess yes?" The bartender complimented her, "Sehr gut indeed Countess you are correct. I believe you might like ice wine for it is very sweet a type of dessert wine I did hear along the grape vine that you liked sweet drinks."

Lafiel's cheeks went a light shade of pink at the bartenders compliment her gaze moved from the bartenders to the wine glass which she picked up. Self concious that her cheeks were positively glowing against her pale complexion like a beacon she pushed forwards though self concious she may be to speak to the lady in the green dress and her slightly disheveled companion. "Guten Abend, Good evening to you both. Whose aquantaince may I have the pleasure of making." Lafiel's tone was soft and almost melodical as she looked both of them in the eyes as she spoke.
