The Eclipse

Profit for a Cause

Faction Tag : E~S| for the covert operation (and F~S| for the front one)
ID : see below
IFF : Freelancer or allied-IFF for liaisons

The Eclipse Syndicate is a brand new semi-lawful smuggling company. Its main difference from others smugglers is that it operates Sirus-wide, and is not affiliated with one specific criminal group. On the contrary, its goal is to make contracts within all four Houses, plus border and independent worlds. In exchange for its both economic assistance and military support against Corsairs and corsair-affiliated, the Eclipse asks to different groups like the Mollys and the Red Hessians tax free passage through their territories and use of their products. Therefore, the Syndicate is loosely divided between Smuggling and Fighting activities. It has nothing to do with piracy. The main distinctiveness of the Eclipse is that it deals with many separatist or revolutionary movements, thus the motto “Profit for a Cause”. The Eclipse considers itself as a money maker, yes, but also as a provider for different causes it feels needs support.

Like many other smuggling companies, the Eclipse constantly tries to stay neutral with all Sirius Houses (apart from Gallians of course). But contrary to most of them, this neutrality very much depends on the effectiveness of Eclipse’s lawful front company, Francesca Shipping and Security, the visible part of the iceberg. As long as F.S shows an honest and transparent face, the Eclipse should be able to operate quite peacefully in its shadow. If governments are focused on Francesca Shipping, it’s more likely they won’t see the covert operation going on underground. Through F.S, the Eclipse should be able to lawfully “bribe” authorities (gifts to the police and military pension, faked friendship, co-event etc). Even if the front operation is profitable, it remains a shell for the true covert smuggling operation.

The Eclipse can smuggle virtually anything anywhere (except Corsair space). For example, bring weapons and fuel to its allies, then buy from them blood diamonds or cardamine and enter House space. As for the front Francesca Shipping, it operates in Bretonia, Liberty ZOIs and border worlds. But the goal is NOT powertrading. We want RP to be the center of it all, that’s why we want to develop our front/covert thing, and our relations with our allies.

Neutral

We try to be neutral with everybody other than our allies and enemies. The goal is to be not too much bothered in House ZOI, so that we can operate. Our legit front company (Francesca Shipping) is the key to achieve this goal.

Hostile

Corsairs and tight allies
Xenos
Nomads
The Wild
plus people who want to stop us.
Possibly Gallia lawful authorities

Structure (voluntarily loose)

Covert Boss and Front Boss

The head of the Eclipse is different from most of syndicates. It consists of two bosses constantly working together : Oniyuushi Kerrigan (Kerrigan) being the covert boss and Adamo Francesca (DarthBindo) being the front boss.

Underboss

The Underboss of the Eclipse is Kenneth Monroe (Kenneth). He also presides the “Fighting department”.

Members

Two kinds of people : smugglers and fighters.

We’re recruiting !

And we need some extensive feedback, especially from the people concerned (our possible Allies, and our enemy, the corsairs). The most WIP part of this is the diplomacy and the structure, so any comment is useful ! We'd like to know if it's feasable, and if it's interesting RP-speaking.
No feedback ?

I've seen many read but no answer.
Added Colonial Remnant, Xenos, Nomads and Wild to our enemies.

I'm still hoping for some feedbak/interest, hope can't kill...
hey. dont get so frusterated!

at least nobody has gone OMG HATE HATE HATE RAEG HATE QUIT KILL on us.

hehe

that is a good thing.

It means A) nobody hates it. and also B) (i think) most people think it is good, but not OMG AWESOME SIGN ME UPKKPLEASENAOTHANKYOUBAI.

You're probably right. I'd hoped for some "unofficial aproval" or something.

Guess it's on us. "Always was".
No offence, but arent there enough smuggling groups already?
None taken. I read every 66 official factions status, many interesting things, but not what I wanted for my char.

As for the unofficial factions, I guess it's hard to know them all, but maybe you can point out to me one similar to us.

The concept of the Eclipse is not just smuggling and making lots of cash. It's to provide some radical groups and criminals military assistance against the Corsairs and products they may need, in exchange for a free passage and smuggling in their territories.

It'd kind of an enlightened and responsible smuggling.

So? Since I've been around Discovery for oh so long, this has always been the argument. So what if there are? He's appealing to his interest and perhaps the other smuggler groups aren't as appealing. That's their fault, not his.

As for my recommendations, I'd say change the security name to something starting with an E so you have one tag. Otherwise that's about it.

I'll be contacting you about other things.
Logo added. Impressive work from our graphic designer and member Kenneth.
Thank you mate, I do my best. Banner added by the way.
