CRI - Calling for a Transportation Ban of Nomad Organisms

It has been brought to the attention of the Cambridge Research Institute (CRI) that there is a growing threat of a Nomad invasion into the general populations of the house systems. Bounty Hunters for several houses, while seeking larger profit margins, have been using substandard equipment when transporting Nomad Organisms in suspended animation. The result has been reports of several attempted breakouts and takeovers. In one case, an individual under partial control of a Nomad crashed into a GNN satellite near Manhattan, disrupting communications for several hours. The CRI is concerned that should someone fall victim to a Nomad takeover, they would then attempt to spread the Nomad Organisms to the general population.

In addition to the growing concern over human-host takeover, tests conducted at Cambridge, Willard, and Atka Research Stations have shown that Nomad Organisms also possess the ability to control ship systems and equipment without direct physical contact. In a press conference held at Cambridge University, Dr. Jacob Elderfield presented his findings regarding the Nomads new found ability:

According to my research, in order to take control over a large ship several Nomad Organisms would have to work together in unison. The number of organisms required to influence a ships systems is dependent upon the complexity of the organisms as well as the size of the ship. In theory, two Superior Nomad Brains could temporarily takeover the controls of a light fighter or affect the systems of a much larger vessel.

Dr. Elderfield's findings suggest that even a single Nomad Organism can cause unexplained weapon jams, reduced weapon efficiency, sudden freezing of visual scanners, and other notable lag effects for all classes of ships.

To combat this growing threat, the CRI is calling for a house-wide ban on the transportation of Nomad Organisms: Nomads, Minor Nomad Brains, and Superior Nomad Brains. The only group exempt from the ban will be registered research ships hired to gather them from the outer systems. Once registered, these research ships will have their cryo systems enhanced to prevent the possibility of a Nomad takeover. Special forces are also being hired by each of the houses to assist in enforcing the transportation ban. Even some pirate factions, recognizing the threat to their own enterprises, have thrown in their support.

Whats the Registration Fee used for?
Initial use of the registration fees will be to further improve the research facilities aboard the CRI-Nomadic for the investigation of Nomad Organisms. Eventually, the ship will be upgraded to a Prison Liner modified for research purposes. A Nomad hunting battleship will also be constructed to further combat the growing threat from the Nomads.

To help prepare the citizens of Sirus, new ships entering the server for the very first time can request funds from the CRI-Nomadic amounting to no less than $1,000,000 credits (higher amounts may be given out provided there is ample funding). These funds are to aid in enhancing Sirius defensive capabilities against the Nomad threat. Repeated requests and/or begging will not be tolerated and will go unanswered. In the unlikely event that the CRI-Nomadic has insufficient funds, Firebird, CRIs Chief Researcher for the Omicrons, will provide the necessary credits.

Please be aware that to avoid the possible attack by Nomad forces, the CRI-Nomadic has a cloaking device which renders it invisible to all scanners (this cloaking device is fictional). Thus, to make contact with the CRI-Nomadic at anytime, send a message to Firebird who can forward the location of the research vessel. Stating the password I am Canadian!!!, will earn you extra money.

Registered Carriers (Character Registration)
The registration fee for ships wishing to transport Nomad Organisms is $2,000,000 credits. Upon payment, ships will receive a Nomad Containment Unit (NCU) designed specifically for the containment of Nomads (this cryo system is fictional).

Due to possible communication problems, the acknowledgement of a ships registration maybe delayed.

Registered and Supporting Factions
Factions wishing to register should contact Firebird. Once registered and supplied, Factions are required to ensure that their members have the appropriate equipment to carry Nomad Organisms.

The registration fee for factions is dictated by the amount of equipment available at the time of registration, thus as more factions sign-up less equipment becomes available and the registration fee increases.

Non-registered factions attempting to seize Nomad Organisms do not have the necessary equipment to properly contain them and may in fact be working with the Nomads to expand their influence in Sirus.

Ship Registration Discount (Forum Identity Registration)
Individuals wishing to register 3 or more of their vessels need only pay a one time $5,000,000 credit fee and ensure that their ships have the appropriate equipment to carry Nomad Organisms.

The Cambridge Research Institute (CRI) reserves the right to make modifications to the statements above with appropriate disclosure to the registered factions and characters when necessary. Any questions feel free to send a private message to Firebird or put a post on the Discovery Freelancer portion of the forum.
Update:

Thanks to the support of the SF, NSP, and TG along with the registration of several individuals wishing to assist CRI. The CRI-Nomadic has successfully been upgraded to a Prison Liner modified for research purposes. In addition, several vessels (new players) have been recently upgraded through the resulting excess funds. Thanks for the continued support.
GNN: CRI and A-MAG Industries Negotiate Technology Exchange and Joint Efforts Agreement
After the recent incident involving A-MAGs flagship the Blackstar, A-MAG Industries has negotiated an arrangement with CRI for the exchange of technology and information. A-MAG will be provided with information regarding Nomad Biotechnology and will have access to the technology behind the Nomad Containment Units (NCUs). In return CRI will be granted access to A-MAG research facilities and advanced weapons technology.

In addition to the technological exchange, A-MAG and CRI will be making a joint effort on researching Artifact Technology and Nomad Bio Engineering to find new and more efficient ways on combating the Nomads.

A-MAG and CRI are expecting good results from this new alliance largely due to A-MAGs production and research facilities being combined with CRI's brilliant scientists and access to Nomad Relics. Rumors are also circulating regarding joint weapons development designed specifically to combat the Nomad threat.

GNN: A-MAG Industries Production of NCUs
With the joint agreement, A-MAG industries will now be able to produce and distribute Nomad Containment Units (NCUs) throughout Sirius. Licenses still must meet with CRI approval; however, in most cases the paperwork is approved in a day or two.

OOC: Anyone wishing to license in-game can now do so through A-MAG High Command personnel in addition to myself. A-MAG personnel will forward me the names of those being licensed and I'll update the license lists ASAP. However, Factions or Organizations wishing to register must contact me directly either in-game or via PM.
