Azuki is a clan member of the Gas Miners Guild. If you were to ask her, Azuki would say she is a 'Kou' - the Kusari word for guild, and colloquially used among the GMG citizens as a simple name for themselves.

Azuki is a strong woman in her 50's now. She was born into a trade family, making regular visits to House and Zoner facilities from a young age. Her family imparted onto Azuki the need for a strong ethical basis for running business - if it were to last generations.

In dealing with foreigners, Azuki saw both the best and worst of Sirius. Azuki formed the view that unethical business trends were not ones that lasted - and inevitably broke down (often due to generational infighting over a will).

Azuki was encouraged to study. As her family were traders, she studied International Law and Politics on Planet Honshu. This knowledge enabled Azuki to take over the family business, and grow it further over time.
Azuki married a Guild research engineer, and had two children. She would liked to have had more, but the ever present population limits on GMG bases meant this could never happen.

Azuki began reporting directly to the Guild once she commissioned her own trade vessel, the Abashiri. Azuki was soon working in the Trade Division, under former CEO Hiroto Hirotami.

She began using her knowledge of diplomacy, pushing for informal trade links to the Red Hessians.

Small efforts such as this did not bring in much profit, but they made trading safer in hostile regions. The success of this and other efforts eventually led to Azuki's rise to one of the coveted Guild Master positions.

As a Guild Master, Azuki was known for her ethical stance against the use of Bretonian PoWs, and advocated for better treatment of refugees that were coming in from the Tau conflict.

Azuki was also present for the historic signing of the Sigma Trade Pact with Rhineland, formally ending the hostilities of the 80 Year's War.

Azuki became more preoccupied with the development of Planet Miura. Azuki formed the view that, for better or worse, Miura was the water planet the Guild had always dreamed of. Granted, that water was ice - but it was their ice.

Azuki's last act as a Guild Master was to form a commercial partnership with Synth Foods Inc, to supply cheap housing and food security to the growing population of Planet Miura.

Azuki sold her shares in the Guild, and bought up massive tracts of land on Planet Miura. Many think she is mad, as she has only bought land rights, not the Guild-owned rights to Uranium mining. But Azuki is taking the long-term view that Miura will become as wealthy and vibrant as any of the house planets in generations to come.

In recent months, Azuki came out of retirement. The Kurile Crisis had brought a measure of hardship to the citizens and guest-workers of Miura. Azuki took up the position of Guild Trade CEO, and began running vital supplies past the Kusari blockade of Okinawa.

During one such trade run, Azuki was intercepted by a KSP officer, and taken into custody. She is currently a 'guest' of Fuchu Prison...
