Ok, so... I'm trying to RP but it seems my messages usually get ignored or are always responded back with the //oorp slashes...... Is there a guide to help someone new to rping....?

some examples of what I say in game.....(looking for corrections....)

Example:Requesting help from other players......

Drescher:"Need assistance <# of ships> <# class of ship> <sector>"
Drescher:"Need help <# of ships> <# class of ship> <sector>"

Example:player helps me destroy AI ships...

Drescher:"Thanks for your assistance <enter player name>!"

Example:A group of player helps me destroy AI ships...

Drescher:"Thanks for your assistance guys!" <---can't think of anything else.......

Those are basically all of my RP lines... a bit confused on how to ask for another player to group with me for missions/jobs cause it sounds like im requesting a party......
first of all, my advice be, get out of NY or pens,

interact with people,

and as far as I know there is no guide, only guidance from others
I know a lot of different RP styles, as I have been in different groups.

my favorite RP style is that of a Molly;)
easy to learn, hard to master

Plus traders need to keep moving, they earn nothing by staying around to roleplay.

Consider joining a faction then you'll have people to roleplay with and you will learn from them. Especially since they will want you to get better to improve their faction's roleplaying.

Actually I fixed it to ya.
If you roleplay more you would earn the respect of the pirates and they will tax you less in the future.

Drescher - look at the [Convoy] in game. For the moment the most active trade faction and they do RP.
That's why I tax them less.
Doesn't Convoy sometimes go around with four or five shires and three or four bretonian gunboats?

Thats pirate-proof. They dont even need to shoot at the pirates. I remember seeing them come down the lane once on my tbh and screaming into system chat like a little girl.

CONVOY COMING THROUGH, CLEAR THE LANES

Roleplaying isn't just about shooting people or helping others to shoot people. You play a role, you place yourself in the body of a fictional character. Start by thinking and talking like your character, realise this isn't a game and you can do absolutely anything.

Aye.

And in rp, any pirate seeing five shires and four gunboats bearing down on him would scream

"Hey there mister tra SWEET JAESUS CONVOY ABORT ABORT ABORT ABORT!!!!"

Im not saying its a bad thing.

I approve of it.

Just saying, it's scary.

Depends I call it challenging for me as pirate, not scary. In my point of view that means to have escorts and to RP trade convoy. And since they have more players then the most of the official trading factions it means that they do it somehow right.
It is a game and you can do almost everything in it,just good imagination is required and to know the limits of the game mechanics.

I've pirated them many times, even when they have 2+ gunboats with Templars. They've paid every time and never shot me.

On topic: Roleplay isn't hard, you just have to get used to it and learn the mechanics of it, try joining an official faction as that will introduce you to roleplay the best way. There can't really be a guide because it's not something that can be taught, just do what your character would do.
