Well Mr Jones, as a member of the VPS, Venator Private Security, I feel I can answer your questoin fairly well. Incase you havn't heard of us VPS is a company comprised primarily of escorts, we provide escort services to any lawful traders and miners.

After dealing and signing contracts for fixed escort rates with many different shippping companys we've found that most transport captains seem happy to pay around 15% of their cargo profits. For a full supertransport of gold ore that comes to approximatly 4 mill for the escort (depending on the price of the ore brought), and a shipment of gold about 1.5 mil. Unfortunatly the smaller the transport the less the escort gets, escorting isn't the most profitable bussiness.

As for gettting shipping and mining companies to sign off on a minium wage, well, going by the amount of effort it took for a formed organisation like ourselves took to get some contracts, you'd have a tough time trying to convince them. They still have a chance to survive without us, by taking the chance of having to pay a pirate, but we can't survive as escorts without them. And lets not even get into the more independant traders who won't necessarily follow any agreement.

Thomas Dering here from the Luxury Liner "Amber". The cash I pay for escorting is my private decision that I make while working with particular individaul if you think that money I am offering is to low you can ask for more or look for someone else who needs escort. After many years in space of Sirius I can tell you that I can't find even one simple escort pilot who was disapointed with my payment. There is no organization that could FORCE the trader/hauler/miner you name them to rise or lower the fees.

On the other hand it is good that you came up with this problem cause as I understand there are people who need to know that escort pilots should be paid good enough so they can develop and become better in their job.
That costs money...ship...equipment...training and so on it all costs money.

As I say there is no company that would be able to force an escort fees to the people who hire escorts. At least I wouldn't give a damn about them. I give the particula escort pilot the terms of our deal - he agrees and we have a deal. That's how it works and fees are decided both ways - buy the man who hires you and you as an escort pilot.

Samura have operated for some time with a fixed rate payment for all our escorts.
Of course that rate does differ an amount between our different sub contractors.
This amount is subject to client confidentiality as well, but I can assure you from other comment on this communication that our rates are very competitive.

I believe that a set pay rate is the least you can expect from a professional outfit and would be shocked to hear that my ridiculous salary could change from one day to the next.

About the matter of not being payed for your services, you are entitled to a few options you could take.
At the very least do not work for them ever again, I would even go so far to announce as loudly as I could, their dishonest ways.
Of course you could also apply to which ever courts are ruling where this happened for compensation.
