Dear Directors of the Gallic Metall Service,

I'd like to introduce myself first: My name is Samuel Degenhardt, I am the newly appointed Director of Trade Affairs of the Independant Mining Guild. It is my task to oversee all trade agreements and improve trade relations.

I was kindly told by the Director of External Commerce of Île-de-France Shipping, Mr. Richard Pinault, that Gallia has added raw gold ore to the raw materials it buys.

The IMG has - as the only mining company in Sirius - access to all three economically interesting Gold fields in Dublin and as I am already engaged in talks with the IDF leadership on how to satisfy that Gallic demand for the Gold resource, I thought it would be a wise idea to include your company in the plans.

I do not know to what extent you can operate in Dublin and whether mining in Dublin with your own mining infrastructure and equipment that is economically interesting or politically possible at all. I was informed by IDF that Bretonia seems not to welcome Gallic companies.

Some information about Dublin: the Dublin environment is extremely hostile with a war raging between Bretonian Armed Forces and the Molly Resistance Movement. And Mollys are unscrupulous pirates who love to shoot up miners if they don't pay up, they are often drunk hopelessly and incredibly unpredictable.

IMG has an immobilized Battleship called Hood there and we are neutral to Mollys and Bretonians.
IMG has mining contracts with the Molly Movement, so we are not hit too hard by their actions.
IMG has managed to remain neutral in the war, so we are the only company that is efficiently mining there at the moment.

If any of the above information seems interesting enough to reply, I would be happy to engage in more detailled talks about what can be done and how cooperation could work. I

The IMG is looking forward to intensifying trade cooperation with our new neighbour Gallia and since we are no house and we are neutral in most politically problematic areas, I dare say we could be a valuable partner in trade and commerce.

Thank you for reading this, Sirs, Madams.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Director of Trade

Bonjour, Monsieur Degenhardt

How wonderful is it when our friendly corporation in the Taus is offering deals. It saddens me we don't make them first, but that's in the past and I don't like to look back. I guess I will introduce myself as well. I am Jean Pierre LeBlanc, Director of External Operations. I find this opening in relations to be quite fascinating.

Well, it seems that the Île-de-France has informed you of the need of gold resources the Crown requests. While it seems that we would jump on this matter, our attempts to study Dublin have ended in nothing more than economic waste of resources. We know about the Dublin system, and truth be told we are more worried about the Bretonian forces than we are about any pirates, Molly or otherwise.

What interests me is this Battleship Hood you have. We have not exactly seen this station, but hearing of it brings possibility. I congratulate you on the fact of keeping this station neutral in the Bretonian space, and even more in the seemingly most hostile system. This is a feat I would drink to, if you'll have the time.

On the topic of hand, I believe we are interested in this proposition of yours, and would like to hear about what you have in mind. We may be able to open up more relations with you and our house as you seem to be requesting, and we would love to have the chance to work with the IMG, how they have been friendly and done so much for us already.

Dear Directors of the Gallic Metall Service,

First let me apologize that I didn't know that there are already good relations between IMG and GMS in the Taus. I was told by an assistant to the Department of Trade, that there has already been very successful dealings between our companies. My apologies and I hope you can understand that things like this happen in a transition phase.

Gatering all the information I have, I conclude that GMS will not bring mining ships into Dublin, which would likely be no good idea as you already stated.

But I figure that like our mining company, your will have your own hauling capacities and those could be used to transport the ore that is mined by IMG or third parties. I can offer the mining of ore and the storage in Dublin or at other places.

There are 2 scenarios:

1. GMS hauling all the way: GMS haulers move to Dublin and buy the ore there. This is possible via some smuggler routes, but it's a long a dangerous trip, I am well aware of that. Haulers need to circumvent the Kusari-Bretonia embargo and cross through Gaian territory. In Dublin, Hood is well-positioned to allow relatively discreet cargo exchange.

2. IMG hauling to the Taus: IMG can also carry the ore through the unsafe zone to the Taus. Since out pilots would have to breach the embargo, this is no option that I can officially recommend to our pilots but there might be some independent ones that would go for it.

If you are interested in working out some way of accessing the gold resource, please let me know. Route information and danger assessment will be done then, to figure out a reasonable pricing of this very valuable commodity.

I'd also be interested in the capacities of haulers that you can spare for this endevour.

Another point that is relevant is your relations to the Gaian group as you will be passing Edinburgh on these runs.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Director of Trade

Bonjour, Monsieur Degenhardt

Now don't get me wrong, we would love to start building our trade in Bretonia. You have to understand we will be going to Dublin. Our mining ships are well equipped with Gallic technology, and we can defend ourselves.

Now, the problem is, is that we don't quite have a nice relationship with the tea drinkers called the BMM. You could say we had a few... nasty encounters already. I have heard you are not the chummiest people yourselves, so lets just say the BMM are a half eaten year old croissant to both of us, oui?

And for our last little tid bit of info, our relations with the Gaians is unknown. We haven't really ran into them on our scouting ops throughout Bretonia. I have a feeling our intentions may change any negotiations you may have stated, so if you'd like to review them and get back to us, that's fine.

Dear Monsieur Jean Pierre LeBlanc,

BMM is a problem, has always been one and will always be one. The good thing is, they are far away and they never come near Hood. BMM will not bother you, if you only want to buy ore and transport it. I think I can almost 100 % guarantee that you will never see a BMM in Dublin if you do what the IMG staff says.

You will of course see them at the T31 gate construction site. That is a choke point that is hard to avoid. But IMG knows their gun and missile capacities very well: they are neglectable for a well-equipped train.

In case you cite secturity issues, the transfer of ore can also be made near the Orkney jumphole or even in Orkney. Our storage is not fixed at Hood but I organised for 2 trains to be on standby to make a more discreet approach possible.

And about the Gaians: I am sorry to say, but I cannot do diplomacy for you. The only thing I can offer is to send an IMG Defence fighter with a pilot that is well connected to Gaians with you on the first trip. So if you run into trouble, there is a mediator to make sure it is solved without unnecessary losses.

So, if you are interested in buying gold ore, IMG has 12.000 tons ready in mobile storage ships. The infrastructure is ready to be used. If you want to go for the offer, make sure to bring security because it is a hell of a trip - I want to be honest on that.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Director of Trade

Bonjour, Monsieur Degenhardt

Thank you for the information concerning the BMM's presence in Tau-31, we hardly knew a place like that was around. It would be nice to avoid the BMM, but we do currently mine in a field they claim is theirs in Tau-23, so hostile contact might be hard to keep away from ourselves. We have also decided that BMM have no real rights to keep us out of their fields, so we will be claiming the one Bretonian field in 23 to be ours. Another thing is we are going to be getting gold from them as well, though I may only say it will not be by contract means.

Now to this transporting business. We are willing to open trade of this gold ore, seeing as the crown requests it. Sadly, our Gallic turrets are too strong to mine the soft ore and that's where you come in. I seem to like your first point of us having the pickup point in Dublin and moving it from there. The only problem is we do not have a refilling station in Bretonia at all, and transporting would be quite hard for us to do if we can not refuel or have a safe heaven on the off chance something goes wrong.

What I am requesting is rights to station some of our ships on the Battleship Hood. A few transports, a escort or two. It will also help us speed up trade if we can have our ships on sight to pick up the gold.

Dear Monsieur Jean Pierre LeBlanc,

The IMG will certainly not interfere if GMS decided to fight BMM's claims in the Tau 23 Beryl fields. They Tau-Pact allows us to go there, too, but Beryl is hard to mine for IMG equipment, so we are not seen there often. If there is contact between IMG and GMS miners, I hope it will be as friendly as the contacts the IMG has had up to now.

Can you remember, you congratulated IMG for the small masterpiece of keeping Hood neutral to almost all parties of importance in Dublin. That's the reason why I cannot allow GMS ships to be stationed there. Your fights against BMM and some other actions have led to a believe in Bretonia, that the Council's prediction of invasion and annihilation might be true. In short: If I allow Gallic ships on Bretonian soil, I will enrage Bretonia, which I cannot.

I have an offer: As I already offered IDF, GMS can use Java in T23 and Dounby in Orkney as save havens. Tau 31 needs no docking opportunities because you are far away from any civilization while on the smuggler path. If you are caught there by a Kusari patrol or by the Carina's Privateers, nothing will save you, I fear. Generally, T31 is safe. And Edinburgh is mainly unpoulated. IDF seems to have ensured docking at Shetland, but it could only be observed by an IMG hauler and not verified. Perhaps that could be an emergency option, too. In Dublin you need no safe haven because your ships will be serviced in Dublin near the Edinburgh jumphole or if necessary in Edinburgh.

You see, this is a dangerous business, for you, and for my people. But with courage and some good planning, it can work. IDF proved it today by transporting 10 000 tons of ore. It's possible.

I will be on a diplomatic mission for the next days and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Director of Trade

Bonjour, Monsieur Degenhardt

Monsieur, I have to say you are lacking on some previous details. We already have rights to dock on Java of a past deal made between our two parties, which I'll attach a link at the end of this message. I am however saddened that you will not give us docking rights to the Hood. We would keep our comings and goings discreet, mind you. No one will know we come and go.

We do not exactly need rights for Dounby, seeing as we have other means of docking of that system, though I wish emergency docking would be allowed.

I understand this business is dangerous, but by Ze Arch we have gotten this far and I believe we shouldn't be worried too much about it. If you have a detailed plan about the trading hands of the gold ore complete, I would like to look at it and then we can finalize that deal. Its a wonderful thing to have such friendly corporate dealings. I believe its not out of my means to invite the IMG board to have a celebratory dinner on a grand restaurant on Nevers. I await your reply.

Dear Monsieur Jean Pierre LeBlanc,

While we haven't spoken to each other for some time, GMS shippers and IMG suppliers created facts on the ground and I think we should discuss. I can assure you, the development is completely positive.

I have spoken to Mr. Jack Henderson who coordinates IMG efforts in Dublin and he agrees to the following proposal, that will also act as a summary for important issues that the IMG wishes to state clearly:
[color=#FFFFFF]
  • Selling price of Gold Ore in Dublin: 4500 SC / unit
  • Selling price of Niobium Ore in Tau 23: 3300 SC / unit
  • Selling price of Beryllium Ore in Tau 23: 4000 SC / unit
  • IMG grants GMS access to the two Barge-Class Storage & Production Facilities (SPF) in Dublin
  • IMG grants emergency docking rights to GMS transports and freighters at Hood (Dublin)
  • All GMS ships except transports or freighters cannot be allowed to dock at IMG bases in Bretonia.
  • IMG repair teams will tend discreetly to damaged escort class vessels in open space at a secure location.
  • IMG Trade Department has realized the already existing Java agreement and has updated its data. The monthly lease of 10 million credits has been also added to our financial data base.
  • Escort Services by the IMG Defence Wing are available. Payment needs to be arranged with the escort pilots.

That would be the Trade Department's proposition.

Personally, I'd like to see it signed soon in order to clarify some of the situations that have been come up in the past when neither IMG personel nor GMS shippers really knew how to react to each other. Experience has shown that situations like these can result in unwanted incidents, consequently I am trying to come to a speedy conclusion on this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Director of Trade

Salut, Monsieur Degenhardt

My colleague Mr. LeBlanc has fallen ill so I shall take his place on this matter. Ze Arch concurs that your terms are fair and straight forward monsieur, so I see no reason to amend them. Your gold ore is fetching a good price at our headquarters back in Burgundy, so I agree it is wise that we move on this deal soon. We have had experience with your escorts and their service was exemplary. Please be reminded of ze attached group photo that was taken and share in our warm memories. I have a feeling we shall be calling upon them again in the future.

Attached is my signature. Please notify your employees of the completion of this deal.

We still would relish a visit to Planet Nevers by some of your executives, as this is ze famous Gallic Wine season. I recommend ze merlot for you Sirians. So ze invitation is still open, monsieurs.
