Fierce fighting after a Blockade of Briesen Facility

We bring you the time line of the unfolding events from Omega 7.

At 20.32 the Briesen Base Communications Operator called for backup because a wing of Colonial Navy Nyxes and IMG Defence ships approached the base.

For about half an hour the base was isolated from the rest of Omega 7 by the IMG and Colonial forces who forced several Daumann miners and traders to dock and rendered the base useless. They claimed to do so as a reaction to Rheinland's claims of Omega 7 and their blockade of Freistadt.

During the blockade a Rheinland Navy Gunboat arrived at the scene. It's arrival triggered today's fit of violence because it was attacked by the Anti-Rheinland forces.

According to sources close to IMG, the Gunboat was destroyed, while IMG suffered the loss of a Spatial in the process.

The mainly Daumann Defensive Forces that had gathered around the base launched an attack to assist the Rheinland Gunship, but suffered multiple losses while doing so. A Police Wraith was shot down in the process of the fighting.

Losses on both sides were high and hard to keep count of in the following chaotic situation but in the end Briesen base was freed from the blockade and the IMG and Colonial Forces pushed back from the southern sector.

Our analyst commented on the indicend: "Fact is, that this was a surpisingly fierce fighting incident in a conflict that had up to now only seen sporadic violence after its beginning and had up to now consisted more of war rhetoric than fighting itself."

Corporate Wars: Daumann Bombers set Freistadt ablaze

In an unprecedented act of corporate agressivity a Dauman bomber wing attacked Freistadt base and bombed the station with their Supernova Antimatter Cannons for about 15 minutes.

CNS has a camera drone near the IMG base, which has come under attack today and that has been under siege for 4 days now. That drone registered 67 direct hits against the base structures resulting in incredibly bright explosions.

The initial IMG Defence forces were not able to keep the bombers away until reinforcements arrived. An IMG Carrier appeared out of the dense fogs and opened fire on the bombers which focussed their torpedos on the capital vessel that sustained heavy damage in the battle. It retreated to Aland for repairs.

The Daumann bombers were then pushed off the perimeter by more incoming reinforcements, mostly Colonial Elite Fighters but also more IMG Defence ships. In the late stages of the battle, some Daumann bombers were destroyed, some retreated towards Briesen into the fog.

The Drone captured the surgical attack that Dauman bombers conducted against the two hangar bays. Here you can see a direct hit of a supernova torpedo against a 1 m thick, reinforced steel armor plate of a closed hangar bay that was later pierced by another exact hit.

In this picture you can see the extremely bright flash of the torpedo impact on the station's hull, near the secondary life support systems. In the foreground the drone captured an IMG Defence Eagle that was shaken by the explosion and which lost a bottom fin due to shrapnel of molten steel that were flying through space.

More pictures show the dramatic fight in which the hastily assembled IMG defensive forces tried to keep the bombers from pounding the base, you can see the anti bomber fire that is focussing on the Daumann Roc Bomber.


The attack comes most likely as a direct response to yesterday's blockade of Briesen by IMG and Colonial craft that had forced Daumann to cease operations for about one hour. Our conflict analysts agree that the Daumann strike was much more effective, even though it did not interrupt any economic proceedings as Freistadt is already under siege.

Drone scans and photography as well as battle camera footage and audio recordings available to CNS allows a rough assessment of the damage on Freistadt base:

• Hangar A was hit by 2 torpedos. The first hit pireced the hangar door and the second penetrated the reinforced steel and exploded inside.
  
• Hangar B was hit by no less than 6 torpedos. 2 or 3 detonated inside the hangar bays and we could see fire raging in there and secondary explosions, likely spaceships, fuel and ammunition.
  
• An oxygen converter - a part of the life insurance primary system - was hit by 3 torpedos. Aerial photos showed that the part was ripped off.
  
• Backup oxygen systems were hit by an explosion but seem to be operating, yet at a lower capacity.
  
• A fuel tank on the starboard side was hit by several torpedos and burst into flames. The fire seemed to be contained by the automatic fire defence systems.
  
• The exposed antennae masts were hit by multiple explosions as well as fragments. The damage is hard to assess but sensor efficiency will likely be down.
  
• Fires and secondary explosions were registered from Hangars A and/or B. No exact assessment can be made.
  
• 371 seriously or critically injured persons were evacuated to Aland, Omega 3. CNS was told that a large number of them are Colonial Marines and Hangar Crews who were stationed there.
  
• The number of dead cannot be told since they were not transported yet, so the drones have no possibilty to collect the data.
  
• About 200 technicians were brought in from Aland, specialised fire fighters and equipment among them.
  
• The exact amount of damage to the structure cannot be assessed at the moment.
  

Expert of bomber warfare Ms. Hollow said when asked about the damage: "I'd guess Freistadt will need a lot of material to recover from that attack. They are likely low on fuel after that storage tank was destroyed, their life support systems might pose severe trouble for the people on board and the hangars will leave them incapable of using these two bays for launching emergency fighters."

We are still assessing all information that we can get and we will keep you updated on the dramatic events in Omega 7 in the standoff between Rheinland and IMG, that seems to have turned into corporate war.
