Brisen Hit by IMG Bombers - Freistadt Reinforced - Rumors of Cease Fires

We bring you Breaking News of the Omega 7 Conflict in which IMG and Rheinland are fighting for the access to resources in the ore-rich sector. We were called by the IMG spokesperson Ms. Veronica Ryan, who explained what happened.

Today IMG bombers that jumped in from Omega 11 bombed Briesen mining facility with torpedos, after catching the DHC security wings off guard. IMG spokesperson Ryan told CNS that "it was necessary to break the blockade of Freistadt", while IMG also claimed that only parts of the station were targetted that could be easily evacuated. "We hit the comunication antennae, the ore refinery and the ore depots", Ms. Ryan explained.

Our military analysts confirm that this picture that was leaked to CNS shows a double hit of Supernova Torpedos against the ore refinery facility, the "heart" of a mining station in which raw ore is refined into industrial ore.

This picture shows the attack against the ore depots of Briesen. The IMG spokesperson commented when confronted with the picture: "conflict is never nice" and she continued to explain "this part of a mining base is automated, almost 100 %. Attacking this will not have caused mass casualties."

Sources outside the IMG agree that the attack on Briesen was really only a diversion to draw Rheinland attention away from Freistadt. Once the fight at Briesen had started, IMG trading ships and independent traders of all colour rushed into Omega 7 to deliver goods at the besieged station. The IMG spokesperson claimed that "4 transports were lost, 3 to enemy fire, 1 is missing in action". Camera pictures of the drone near Freistadt shot footage of the chaos.

Both pictures show trading ships arriving at Freistadt with cargo that was rangind from harmless goods like food, water and oxygen, also medical equipment, but als dangerous war materials like infantry fighting vehicles and drones, munition, weapons.

This photo shows Rheinland forces trying to shield Freistadt, an attempt that according to Ms. Ryan "Was successful for about 10 minutes", before the blockade was broken by fighting. In the course our CNS drone was damaged, we apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to present pictures.

IMG rates the mission as a success, claiming that they delivered "enough food, water and oxygen for the Colonial Marines to last months without resupplying" and Ms. Ryan also pointed out in the short statement that "over 36.000 standardized transport units of war material, Light Arms, Ammunition and Infantry Support Vehicles and Drones" had been delivered. She said, and we quote: "Taking Freistadt by siege or boarding attack is impossible". We couldn't reach independent sources in the heat of the fast-evolving events, but our CNS military analyst agrees that a boarding attack might be more difficult after a reinforcement.

In the course of the fight, the IMG resupply operation was supported by Colonial Navy, Red Hessian Army and also Coalition Forces that fiercely attacked Daumann and Rheinland Navy who stood their ground with the help of EDGE, a merc company employed by DHC. Losses on both sides were numerous, several Capital vessels were damaged badly and are still being salvaged. It's too early to estimate the casualty figures, but they are estimated to be "considerable, on all sides of the conflict", by the IMG spokesperson.

Despite the bloody escalation and the peak of violence in the conflict, there are rumors of a cease fire. Neither Ms. Ryan nor our Rheinland sources would comment on that rumor, but well-informed circles are talking about the opening of diplomatic talks. CNS expert on conflicts commented on that: "It's possible that the losses - economicaly and militarily - for both sides exceed the potential gains. Thus the IMG might see it fit to enter into negotiations, hoping that Rheinland would gladly accept a chance to end the conflict and focus completely on the real front again".

CNS will keep you updated...

Major Setback for Rheinland in Omega 7!

In a daring blockade run various transports, consisting of IMG and independent operators, both independent traders and freelancers, broke through the Rheinland blockade of Freistadt and delivered critically needed materials and cargo such as food, water, and oxygen. Some transports also carried weapons and ammunition.

In a brilliant move the IMG forces raided Brisen station and lured the Rheinland ships blockading Freistadt away, allowing the first shipment from a dozen transports to reach the station and unload, not a Rheinland ship was in sight as the transports headed back in order to bring back more critically needed supplies. The first few runs were largely successful, but the Rheinlanders grew wise to the ruse and diverted ships to end this blockade run, but then, more ships arrived, the Hessians and even some Coalition ships engaged the Rheinland craft closing in on the station, Colonial defenders of the station also joined to defend the station's lifeline.

Even capital craft was seen engaging each other, Rheinland was able to stop the flow of supplies... for all of ten minutes before the IMG and allied forces forced the Rheinland fleet away.

Even though Rheinland military managed to destroy a few transports most of the shipment made it through.

Losses were heavy on both sides, but the net result of the action was IMG's foothold in Omega 7 remained stronger than ever, now the station was not in danger of running out of food or other supplies. Rheinland inflicted, and received, heavy losses.

Can Rheinland really afford to divert such part of its military so much when the war with Liberty still raged on? The situation on Omega does not seem to be budging one bit, and Rheinland's hope for surrender of Freistadt and a quick end of the Omega 7 situation was dashed by this daring resupply which broke through the Rheinland blockade so successfully.

Again, can Rheinland afford to be dragged into another quagmire while a greater threat in the form of Liberty is at its doorsteps?
