CEASE FIRE IN OMEGA 7 - LEAK CONFIRMS CEASE FIRE TALKS - CEASE FIRE IN OMEGA 7

Rumors that a Ceasefire in Omega 7 between the Rheinland and IMG forces that have been fighting a conflict over resources have turned out to be true.

Unrelated sources close to IMG as well as CR confirmed that inofficial orders haven been given to refrain from conducting any offensive missions after the last vicious clashes in which massive casualties were inflicted.

The Rheinwehr Press Center did not comment when asked about these statements, but confirmed that the number of hostile encounters has decreased drastically in the course of the last 48 hours. A reason was not stated.

CNS was able to aquire some diplomatic documents, that were obviously compiled by the IMG and sent to Rheinland. Undisclosed sources leaked this fragment of the document to CNS that seems to contain a part of the official negotiations between the combatant parties.

CNS decided to broadcast it completely, as the Omega 7 Conflict is doubtlessly a matter of Sirius-wide importance.

Quote:
  1. IMG retracts its claim to the Northern part of Omega 7 and recognizes it as neutral territory, open for everyone to use.
  2. IMG ends its hostilities against Rheinland forces and returns to a pre-conflict stance of neutrality. No compensations will be requested by IMG for inflicted damage by Rheinland forces.
  3. IMG seeks for reconciliation with Daumann and Kruger, in order to return to non-hostile terms. No compensations will be requested by IMG for inflicted damage by Rheinland corporations.
  4. The IMG will lift its economic sanctions against Rheinland and will ship resources to Rheinland again.
  5. The IMG requests Rheinland to open its borders to IMG vessels again.
  6. The IMG requests Rheinland to retract the shoot on sight orders and return to a status of pre-conflict neutrality.
  7. IMG recognizes Rheinland's political claim of the South of Omega 7.
  8. IMG requests permission to mine in the Southern Rheinland part of Omega 7. The IMG is willing to negotiate about the installation of a mining fee in exchange to a legal grant of unrestricted access to the resources.
  9. IMG asks Rheinland to confirm the Independent Status of Freistadt and to refrain from disputing the IMG's ownership of Freistadt again.
  10. IMG asks for the establishment of a Neutrality Zone of 5 or 10 klicks around Freistadt. The DHC bomber attack and the Rheinland blockade makes the existence of a Buffer Zone necessary.
  11. IMG asks for the establishment of Freeport Rules to be applied in the Neutrality Zone that can be shaped in cooperation with Rheinland authorities but might not be identical with Rheinland law.
  12. IMG will transfer pilots actively engaged in combat operations from Omega 7 in order to avoid retribution attacks.
  13. The IMG asks for Rheinland forces and Rheinland Corporations to also transfer pilots that are likely to endanger the peace process out of the conflict area.
  14. The IMG will start a step-by-step withdrawal of spacecraft and Marine forces within the next two months and return to a civilan mining operation if a conclusion about a mutual demilitarization is reached.
  15. Prisoner exchanges will take part as soon as hostilities have ceased.

Our conflict correspondent commented on the list: "It's likely not satisfactory in many points. Rheinland will likely not allow for IMG setting their own set of laws in the heart of Omega 7, a place where a vital trade lane connects Rheinland to Bretonia."

He also stated that it's unlikely for the Rheinwehr to accept any restrictions on movement inside Omega 7 after the coflict. He concluded: "And DHC will likely oppose the requested opening of the southern resources fiercely."

But experts agree that this is a start, likely the beginning of the end of the armed conflict. "It's a common practise to ask for much and then to scale back one's demands.", George Hamslet, an expert on foreign relations stated.

Neither the IMG, not Rheinland authorities were willing to comment on this list, its origins, its use or relevance. Neither party denied the existence though but also did not confirm talks.

As an IMG spokesperson said: "It is still too early to comment on something that is as important as the end of a conflict that has caused so much loss and pain. Time will tell."
