The Exodus Mining Guild


The first days

It was the third October 805 A.S in the Dublin System. When escorts of mining vessels became more and more important a full hand of miners decided to create a small group existend out of experienced IMG miners. For better communication between each other they used an encrypted channel to tell around if a pirate was incomming. Well armed to counter a possible act of piracy the small group of four ships, including two fighter escorts, went to the Gold fields nearby the old battleship Hood. Everything seemed peaceful and quiet. Still in alert if someone would encounter they began their mining operations in the middle of the gold line. The two avaible mining ships stationated in the field and started to extract the valuable precious metals. Like expected not much time later they had their first red dot on the long range scanners. With brief orders from the captains of the mining ships the mining equipment was tucked into the front of both ships. After the pirate ship spotted the four operating vessels it called for support and was able to get two other fighters. A huge amount of shiny impulses flew around when some time later everything was quiet again. With the two fighters and the two Mining ships, equipped with anti-fighter weaponry, the three pirates had not a chance and fell like flys.
After this fight one of the mining ship broadcasted over a secure channel a message to all mining ships and their escorts an attack was forced back. Very quickly a lot of the receiver showed interest in their 'teamplay', so the ships met at the old Battleship Hood in Dublin. The arrival of ships didn't stop until there were over 25 vessels around the warship. Around eight of these vessels were mining ships and the remaining vehicles the escorts of them. After a brief order from the young founder,called David Lennox, of the secure Miner channel, all ships went back into the gold fields. This time it was quiet all the time. Not even a sign of an act of incomming pirates. After all Hegemon's were filled with the gold ore the huge convoy made their way to the best place for selling the ore. During their travel from the Dublin goldlines to Detroit Munitions, the final destination of the ore, they encountered a lot of pirates who tried to get the precious metal. But all of them were destroyed by the overwhelming used force of several haevy armed escorts. No losses, no succeded piracy. This was the birth of the Common Mining Unity.


The Future of the Economy

Not safe from more and more people who were interested to join their faction the CMU had around 30 new members per month. With such a suceed the faction was one of the most populated mining organisation with offering high quality jobs and fitting environment around the employee in Sirius. Even as a Miner on the Hegemon's the missions weren't that much dangerous anylonger. With improved technology on every ship, including the mining vessels there nearly never have been any incidents so far. Unstoppable the Unity became one of the most favourised organisation, working for other companies or just mining various amounts of metals to develope new ship designs and equipment. Finally the last completed request to the shipping organisations had left Lennox' office.
As one of the youngest faction leader, David Lennox was the most dangerous compeditor and the most succesful for other companies. With several attempts to take him out Lennox decided to leave his office, stationated on Manhattan, and ordered a special ship for himself to be independent from the place he is operating. However, all the built ships, ordered by the CMU, have been kept secret. Noone knew anything about them till the day the first ship was produced. The pride of the mining fleet was born as the first Super Heavy Fighter left the production halls of the shipping organisations. The design was called the "MU-01 Independence". With building these ships the Mining Unity began to create a military fleet. More and more heavily protected convoys of Hegemon's travelled through the space. From the Taus till the Omegas, over the House Space. The counted vessels nearly reached the impressive number of 3500 ships in total. There nearly never was a system without a contact to a CMA's Hegemon's or one of their escorts. The time was good. The bank accounts were overfilled with credits and other wealth. This impressive increasing activity was built in two years and was still growing. After these two years of organizing the whole faction Lennox decided to set a more agressive course against the House companies to gain control about some important decisions, actually classified by the gouvernment to the people. After four years passed already half of the other organisations were 'captured' in their bills and finally were forced to retreat from the higher markets of interests. Only the biggest House companies managed to withstand the overwhelming economically power of the Mining Unity. With nearly 40% market share the Common Mining Unity was one of the most powerful and most influencing company ever.


Psychologically Changes

With recognizing he became more unhuman because of all the power he had, David Lennox started to think about an outsourcing of the company out of the core worlds to prevent more harmful actions against anyone. He recognized he became dependent of his feeling to have a lot of power and a lot of credits. Weeks passed but the company didn't stay still. Everything was still moving. Ships are coming and going, unloading the mined goods and starting to get off to the valuable fields again. Noth had changed. Only Lennox' personal opinion about the status and the reputation of his whole pride to other parties.


The 'Exodus'

With an order all ships should meet at a secret place to start a secret project to create an own military fleet to enforce the will of the CMU, Lennox started to communicate with the whole faction the first time after three months again. As ordered all the ships arrived in the outskirts of the place known as the Coronado system. Far away from any contact the huge fleet positioned in a big field of yet not discovered matter. Only little reports had been reported in the past about such a material. It was called Iridium and it was known that this metal was used for heavy antimatter weapons. With the order to mine all of the avaible rare metal nobody except for a hand full pilots and commanders, including David Lennox, noticed a strange acitivity inside of the field. The connection between the particles were very close to each other, nearly too close. These particles contained explosive hydrogen atoms. During the mining ships mined all the metals a failure of one hegemon had been reported. The crew of the ship found a strange device, made by human. After the captain took that device it began to vibrate. Not much time later the scanners of the other ships received an ultra high frequenz coming from the mining vessel. Suddenly the whole ship exploded. The explosion hit two other Hegemon's which meant the destruction of these vessels, too. Shocked by the suddenly concussive blasts it seemed quiet. But around the engines of all the CMU vessels something was wrong. The temperature in the field was increasing, the fire from the explosion wasn't gone. Lennox ordered to leave the field immediately cause of a chain reaction. Unfortunately this order was a bit too late. Around the destroyed Hegemon's there formed bubbles of fire, spreading out in innumerable explosions. Like a huge nuke the explosions vaporized all the ships, operating in the field. Lennox heard all the screams over the comms and all the panic. The explosion was visible from the jumphole to Cortez and incoming ships came to help. Only Lennox and a friend of him, who helped founding the faction, were able to get out of the field. Both survived after the aiding ships helped them but the mind of Lennox was torn. He blamed himself for the death of nearly 20.000 people, men and women, and left the colonies with his friend. On his gunboat he had only his crew crew left. All other people he knew have died. The now torn founder went into shadows and found out that all that was planned. Probably a traitor in the lines of his once so great pride. Till the year 816 A.S. Lennox tried to identify the assassins. Without suceeding he blamed the House corporations for that disaster and started to rebuild his faction.


The New Future

After leaving behind the past and thorough researches about everything that happened in Sirius the remnants of the Common Mining Unity were ordered to get back to Dublin again. No fighters of the 'MU' fighters were avaible. They all got destroyed. But finally there arrived some remants. Just three fighters and two gunboats. All the financial power they had was gone. There were no credit left on the Unity's bank accounts. With planning to become independent from anything the CMU vessels were ordered to avoid contact with any ship, except for the Zoners. It was a time of darkness and the future wasn't very bright. But the will was there. Except for being independent these remnants formed some kind of council to discuss about different things. Because Lennox realized earlier that he was harming in some way with the business of the Unity, he wanted to help his own race. Already a very useful information was the existance of the Order Lennox heard about during the Nomad wars.
It was the 1st January 818 A.S. The planning of the re-creation of the faction went much harder than expected. It is one thing to build up a mining empire in the core worlds but a complete different thing to give birth to an organisation which would help the people without thinking about profits and other kind of wealth. There were hard times for the remnants but finally they made the breakthrough. With using the old common mining channel Lennox tried to broadcast a message to the people about an aiding mining guild, existing to support the right way of the defense of humanity without any force against other human beings.
Another thing the formed 'council' decided was the continously usage of military vessels but only to protect the trading and mining ships. It would be even prohibited to shoot other vessels first. Just in self-defense the captains should order the escorts to shoot.
With the nearly completion of the new formed organisation Lennox decided to change the name into the Exodus Mining Guild. To left in mind how much people died because of the will to earn more and more money all the time. The time had come to move forward, to help the humanity. David Lennox contacted the Order Admiral Golanski in the August of 819 A.S., requesting permission to supply the Order. Lennox saw a possible chance for new alliances between the Order and the EMG. In addition to this the EMG was able to have a deal with the Zoners to pass their deeper systems.


A stone of foundation was laid. The future lies now in the hands of the recruitment of new members.

Zone of operations

Mainly acting in the outer systems of Sirius, like the Omegas and Omicrons, the EMG is also mining or acting at not too popular places. The base of the operations is a moving ship named "Atlas.Prime". All missions or special operations are lead by this ship.
To avoid are any kind of House military, police and companies. That means it is prohibited to land or to moor any ship at any lawful station in the core worlds. All members should respect this because we are normally acting in the darkness without being located by the 'law'.

The "A" and "O" of mining/trading operations and locations

Like mentioned above the places where to mine or to trade aren't restricted. The things we are mining are:
Water, Oxygen, Iridium, Artifacts (for research purposes only) and alien organisms.

These goods are going to be delivered to our allies or independent bases.

In case of trading we are also acting in the darkness. Nobody have to know we are there. Especially in House Space we should keep quiet and try to avoid jumpgates, tradelanes and other populated places. The same here for mining operations. It is always better to use a jumphole or to accept a longer flight without a trade lane than being detected by a lawful ship.

Mostly we are using non-house technology, especially civillian. This gives us the advantage to be independent from any House.

Equipment Usage

Civillian technology only

In some cases there can be an exception, for example the IMG gunboat. But because of our will to stay independend it is recommended to carry civillian tech only. If there is a possibility to get other equipment with the agreement of the related faction we are using this technology, too.

Naming of ships

Because the name of the faction is too large we are using EMG| on all our ships.
There are actually three kinds of designations for ships.

Because we are a Mining Guild all transports are carrying at least one mining laser. Because of this the transports will be named like this:

Mitra stands for Mining Trader. So every transport got a possibility to mine and to trade.


For escorts there is a simple designation:

EMG|Es.Name.Here


And at last the Operator. This person is member of the leadership. So every ship not carrying this tag have to execute every order the Operator gives.

Commanding Structure

There are not that much ranks avaible yet. The only existing rule in connection to ordering are:

- As an escort in a fighter you must do what the escort leader, a gunboat captain, is ordering.
- The transport captains should listen to the orders the escort leaders are giving.
- All ship, not carrying the tag of an Operator have to do everything the Operative orders.
- The Atlas Prime is responsible for any special missions being granted. The words "special mission" in this case mean the deviation from the existing guidelines. For example: A strike against a faction, which is blockading the fulfilling of transport and mining missions, with military power to prevent sacrifies.

I really like the faction background but I fail to see why you should use IMG ID and thus makes you part of the Independent Miners Guild. Maybe can you point out some reasons?

Actually the EMG was founded by IMG miners. It's not mentioned in the text but I have to add some features anyway.

True. It's because of the mining bonus. Otherwise it would take a bit long till the cargo hold is full.
Well, if you don't consider yourselves part of the IMG, then it's better to switch to Independent Miner ID

Edit: But it makes it no longer possible to fly Gunboats. So there cannot be another ID, unfortunately.

Yeah, but it does not fit to the RP. If you are a member of the EMG you cannot land on any lawful base in the core worlds. You could only get it by landing there in Honshu before joining the EMG. Otherwise there wouldn't be access any longer.

note: ship repping and purchase is an oorp part of your playing. dont worry about where can you land before that.
IMG do not receive mining bonuses for the things you're mining: Water, Oxygen, Iridium, Artifacts (for research purposes only) and alien organisms.

So using IMG ID for that reason is pointless.
