The Vindicator is destroyed. Half the crew never made it to the life pods. She wasn'€™t destroyed by pirates, not by Corsairs, or Hessians or even the bloody Junkers. She was destroyed by Privateers.

PRIVATEERS!

You, pretentious, gormless, prats!

The Unsung heros of Bretionia, the Queens silent knights in arms, fighting for Bretionia in ways no Bretionia ever could! You, MURDERED Freelancers, stole money from transport ships, Invaded house space.

How is This the hope of Bretionia? All I wanted to be was a privateer, to be that unknown hero, to fight the good fight knowing it was for the good of our people, my family!

Damn you!

<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%]A loud slam erupted over the communications link. The image digital blacked out and tiled until the transmission compensated and returned to normal.

Rheinland, are you getting this lot? I'€™m transmitting everything. From bloody start to bloody finish. Ship ID'€™s communication logs, the whole barrel.

Incident report starts at 2012-18 01:43:xx SMT in Stuttgart. I observed a new Bison class transport flying under Ageira Tags, IFF, and Identification. with consumer goods, out of Stuttgart into Omega 7.

"Bison" Class C5 Liberty Transport

It didn'€™t hit me until later that they are restricted to carry only Gate and lane parts as well as minerals from one mining base only. I waited for their departure back into Stuttgart and when I discovered they had not left, I entered Omega 7.

When I searched the mine fields I found the Ural-II and an independent Kruger mining ship in the IMG fields mining silver ore, both of them. I hand no choice but to remind them of the situation I found them in. Ageira should not haul silver ore from what I could determine and this Independent Kruger ship was in the wrong place at the worst time. I wasn'€™t about to just fire on the transports and tried my damnest to convince them to stop their activities and move along. Ageira claimed they had always mined that field with IMG'€™s blessings and I retorted that even if they did, they wouldn'€™t feel proud of that Ageira ship being stopped by Rheinalnd patrols. Still , they continued to mine.

When the Ageira transport was full and the Independent kruger miner became all the more aggravated with my presence, two Queen'€™s Privateer Bretionia gunboats arrived. They were both heavily armed and armored. In all honestly, I was like a kid at a parade watching their hero'€™s come to life. But they acted, wrong. There'€™s just no other way to put it. The soon confirmed to me that they were taking aggressive moves against the Miner and transport. Rule one when patrolling. Pirates come before infracting traders. I placed the Vindicator between the privateers and the trade ship and miner to at least throw them off.

{-- COMMS --}

Ageira ended up paying them their price, if not more, and that Independent Kruger miner, well. The two Privateers we'€™re done with me and time wasn'€™t going to keep them chattering for much longer. I fired a Cruise disrupter at the one in front of me, thrustered under him and directly behind him, but his partner was waiting for me. I couldn'€™t get far enough away to cruise and the fire fight began. I called out a general distress call and communicated on the Rheinland bandwidth to try to get help. It seems the Privateers know how to take out these Kusari gunboats rather well, I should have known better. Then that independent Kruger miner joined in and fire a SNAC at us. No good deed goes unpunished I gather. With every bot and batt used up and our hull cracking like an egg, I signaled our surrender.

I tried to make sense of some of this, tried to figure out why the Privateers would do this. I honesty think there wasn'€™t a good answer to any of this. When the Rheinland forces showed up, the two Privateers have had their time playing with us and put a final nail in the Vindicator'€™s reactor. Myself and the bridge crew were the only ones to make it out.

He held a pause for a long time just staring into the monitor.

Just Smashing chaps. Just bloody Smashing. If this is what our hero'€™s have become, then who the bloody hell are the villains?

Hmm another fight in IMG ore mining site ehh? Oh sorry. Let me introduce myself. Comander C.J.Nickson of the IMG battle Cruiser RockHead. Now this is 3rd incident in our ore fields in 2 days. Seems the other Miner Corps cannot control their miners. Well myself and my crew are sorry for yer loss. This is going to stop. The RockHead is now going guns hot on any non IMG or military fighting ship we find in that area. We are tired of the higher ups taking to much time to work out some "truce". We will now defend our own with extreme force. If we see these "privateers" we will send them to hell for your crew. And remind them why they are going there.

Anyone who has paid attention over the previous years should not be surprised that these rogue soldiers, these traitors to the Admiralty have gone rogue and are now nothing more than common degenerate pirates.
They have committed numerous war crimes and murders, and are little more than scum, filth and villiany.
It is well know that the Sovereign House of Bretonia and the Queen have declared them outlaws.
Honestly, where have you been living?
Should you encounter these patrio-ahem-pirates you should of course shoot to kill.

Sincerely,
Tammo McIllheney, MP Waterloo

Guess there is something in raw ores that make people dealing with them wet. Ore is a whore. You should get used to it, sweetheart.

Though, I always found the idea of some glorious gentlemen cosplaying pirates in fancy hats in violation of written laws and common sense - and of course doing what the Crown doesn't want to be tied to - utterly entertaining. Guess someone got a good sense of humor.

Hello.

Who the hell are you?

Mr. Marshal,

It is never easy to see one's heroes fall. I can sympathise, having had a similar experience in my past. Wether or not the Privateers once started out as being in service of Bretonia, I cannot say, but ongoing reports and interactions with us Independent Miners suggest they have devolved to being little more then common pirates, acting for their own benefit under the guise of serving Bretonia. Perhaps a superfluous suggestion considering your recent experience, but do treat them as such, pirates.

I'll refrain from commenting on the issue of a Kruger miner servicing a Libertonian trader in the IMG claimed mining fields.

Regards,
- Johnathan Sanders

So these pirates were declared rogue by the crown. Suspicious move...

It seems that they are basing their operations from the nearby freeport in Omega 3, this might have interesting consequences for the zoners in the area

I'm increasing the security on this channel. I didn'€™t expect to get all these crocodile tears from anyone and everyone in the two systems.

The Privateers have long since broken away from the Bretonian government and military. They do not operate under our authority or orders, and any action they take is unsanctioned. These persons have chosen the path of vigilantism and have gone rogue from Bretonia. We do not support their behavior. What we do support is the right of both Liberty and Rheinland to protect themselves and their citizenry against their actions. If Rheinland requests it of us, we will cooperate with them to resolve this.

SUBJECT: Privateers

Admiral Landers here from the Rheinwehr,

Baroness, I understand that the "Privateers" are not under control of the Bretonia Armed Forces or any lawful authority. For the security of Omega-7, Kruger, Daumann, IMG and other workers, I'm requesting a list of the known privateer vessels. I know it's a strange request, but the fall of these traitors is our common interest.

In addition, all armed Bretonian vessels will be identified by our forces and escorted out from Omega-7 if they fail to prove their affiliation to the Bretonian Armed Forces.

I hope under these circumstances you agree with my decision, Baroness.
Signed,

Admiral Joachim Landers,
Oberkommando des Rheinland Militärs.
