Controversy. Every now and then a controversy comes around and exposes corruption within a group. Also, every time this happens, fingers are pointed, names are listed, and someone gets transferred after temporary paid leave, or in other words, not much. With the Gallic Royal Police, it might happen a bit more often than “every now and then,” and as was the case, the previous chief was transferred, a new one took his place, and no policies were changed.

The new Directeur de Police, Eloise Coudert, is just as corrupt as those who came before her, although the people do not know it yet, and has her eyes set on profit, power, and the purity of Gallia. She intends to continue the old policies of bullying Sirius corporations to keep them out of Gallia, but still is willing to listen to those who have money, and might overlook those who pay her well. She also intends to do so a little more cautiously than her predecessor has done, and not make her or the organization’s morally corrupt attitudes known to the public again.

The Gallic Royal Police will also, from time to time, actually make attempts to cut down on crime within Gallia and punish those who turn against the crown and its supporters. Whether or not they decide to prioritize that though depends on their motivation at the time.

The foundation of the Royal Police dates back to the early years of Gallic settlement. Three years after the sleeper ship Gallia touched ground, the Royal Police was formed. Consistent of the descendants of former Alliance soldiers, the organizations primary aim was to supervise the security of colonial establishment first on New Paris, then as Gallia's explorers made progress, on universal levels.

During the hundreds of years, the role of the Police changed. The Royal Navy took charge of supervising the extension of Crown's influence, the elimination of pirate bases and the jurisdiction of the Police itself, while the latter was trusted simply with keeping the core systems under control. Since all larger hostilities were treated by the Navy, the Royal Police soon had very few things to worry about, giving room for laziness and the failure to carry even those few tasks out efficiently. All that eventually gave room for developing corruption within the Police force, mostly Corse members kept officers under their influence to gain access to Government and Navy contacts.

The darkest period within the Police was shortly before and during the First Gallic War. A lot of officers left the force and joined the Council or the Corse, using Royal technology to fight against the system they were sworn to protect. Most of those who remained didn't cease to be corrupted; officers were supplying information, refused to open fire on Council targets and kept terrorizing the civilian populace. After the war, the Royalty realized the line has been crossed. The King issued the Navy to commence the event called "Le Grand Nettoyage" (The Great Cleansing), which resulted in the elimination of 126 Royal Police officers and 38 Government officials and another 500 arrested, without open Council defectors counted.

Following the retaliatory actions, the corruption within the Force lowered, but didn't cease. The Royal Police became the symbol of injustice and mischief, no matter how a lot of new members tried to fight against the image. The Navy was issued to supervise the Police between the two civil wars, they were rewarded with radical privileges, such as destroying Police ships if caught during committing piracy and they often lived with the occasion to do so. With the new order established and new leaders in power, the corruption, back alley deals, and general terrorization of the Gallic populace has been quelled or simply pushed to an area where no one can find it. Certain records go missing, accounts are doctored, and certain officers simply disappear. The Royal Police has learned from its mistakes.

The general opposition between the two factions was gone when the Second Gallic War erupted. The Council's reopening of the Gallic borders towards Sirius and therefore the fear from the unknown that waited beyond succeeded in restoring the will to co-operate between the Navy and the Police Forces. Only a very few Police Officers joined the Council when the war erupted, some say it's because the corruption has ceased, others say it's because the officers see a new business to be made from Sirian ships, either way, most policemen and women became radical haters of the Council and the Sirians.

Following the beginning of the invasion of Sirius a new purpose was given to the FSDG. They became the Gendarmerie Royale de Gaule, based upon the military police of old France. When the Gallic invasion of Sirius began Gendarmerie operatives were often found patrolling occupied systems and even spotted alongside GRN invasion forces.

They are most often used for enforcing Gallic law in occupied space while the GRN is away fighting on the front lines. They work with purpose, and don't get caught off guard when in hostile space and other dangerous situations. Everything they do is a direct order by the leaders of the royal police, and you will never find an operative idle when an assignment has been issued.

Primary Craft:
UX-256 "Moonbeam" Gallic Civilian Heavy Fighter.
Rank Required: Unrestricted
This sleek racer, consisting of little more than hyper conducting alloys molded around overpowered engines, is the love of Gallic space operas and racing circuits alike. Capable of extraordinary maneuvers in the hands of a trained pilot, the deadly dances performed amidst asteroid fields are only as deadly as the cannons she employs when pressed into escort duty.
UY -258 "Sunbeam" Gallic Civilian Heavy Fighter
Rank Required: Unrestricted
Heavier than its brother the Moonbeam, the UY-series "Sunbeam" is often the first choice for new recruits looking for a bit more punch. Although a tad more sluggish than the also popular Caracal, the extra weapons slots can make quick work of enemy craft and the trademark sleek UY-series hull shape presents a small target profile. Nicknamed the "Battleshovel" among the officers of the Royal Police, the Sunbeam is an excellent ship for patrol and can mold itself to the needs of the pilot.
XJ-1 "Caracal" Gallic Light Fighter
Rank Required: Unrestricted
The lightest craft off the assembly of the Royal Foundry, the Caracal bears the trademark shape characterizing all Gallic Military snubcraft. A small and agile craft, its strength is pecking away at the enemy ships in a very calculated manner, out-turning and didging in order to prevent the enemy from ever getting it in their sights.
XJ-2 "Serval" Gallic Heavy Fighter
Rank Required: Unrestricted
The backbone of GRN and GRP squadrons alike, the XJ-series "Serval" is the most common ship to see out on patrol for the Royal Police. Its recognizeable shape can strike fear into the hearts of enemy craft, and a skilled pilot can take advantage of a slim forward profile. Very similar to the Caracal in flight style, the Serval offers more firepower that its lighter version and faster than the heavy Lynx and allows its pilot to take a more offensive stance against those who would seek to make our jobs difficult.
BXJ-5 ''Cougar'' Gallic Bomber
Rank Required: Gardien
Bulky and sluggish compared to the Caracal and Serval, the bomber is well suited to hanging on the fringes of battle and striking at larger capital ships from a distance. Properly flown, the Cougar can decimate enemy capital craft with relative ease.
Eclipse - UZ-300 Gallic Civilian Bomber
Rank Required: Lieutenant
The heaviest snubcraft available to the Royal Police, the Eclipse is rarely seen alone. More heavily armored and with a larger power core than the Cougar, the Eclipse's design anticipates its pilots finding themselves the underdog in dangerous situations with little backup available, and provides added resources to both survive and prevail in hostile environments.
XJ-3 "Lynx" Gallic Very Heavy Fighter
Rank Required: Lieutenant
The Lynx is one of the most feared snubcraft in Gallic space. Boasting unmatched armor and power reserves, this Very Heavy Fighter-class craft eschews some agility for raw, mean, plasmatic death. Due to the nature of the GRP's operations and the desperate need of the Royal Navy, only a select few craft have been made available for police use in the most extreme of circumstances.
GXJ-7 "Perilous" Gallic Gunboat
Rank Required: Lieutenant
Egg-shaped and awkward but unique-looking, the Perilous can often take its target off-guard; its remarkable power plant allowing it to rain death upon enemy snubcraft. The gunboat is the seat of a Capitaine and may be used as a mobile command post and a supply checkpoint as well as a counter to foreign incursions.
CXJ-4 "Obstinate" Gallic Cruiser
Rank Required: Commandant, Commissaire, and Directeur
This is the one of heaviest ship GRP pilots may use, and is used as the personal fortress of the Directuer or Commissiare. The Obstinate is usually used as the Command post, when a precinct is not around, and due to its strategic value and passenger roster will rarely be found in the heart of battles much more suited to be taken care of by the trained officers of the Royal Police.
Auxiliary Craft:
MCU-1 "Aurochs" Gallic Freighter
Rank Required: Unrestricted
The premier ship for moving cargo quickly, the Aurochs has become immensely popular among many groups in Gallia. The Royal Police use Aurochs Freighters as a secure way to move contraband confiscated from the ne'er-do-wells travelling Gallic space.
"Taureau" Gallic Armored Transport
Rank Required: Brigadier
For carrying the most valuable and dangerous contraband and taking it from those who carry it, the GRP uses the armored transport for its great cargo capacity as well as strength and defense.
ME-UH "Vache" Gallic Train
Rank Required: Lieutenant
When larger shipments of contraband or smuggled goods are intercepted, the Royal Police's Vaches come into play. Unlike the Aurochs, it's far too slow to accompany the GRP patrols, and as such it is a rare sight among smugglers due to the fact that it is only brought out after the offender has been apprehended. Certain Vaches also serve as mobile evidence storage facilities for the Royal Police.
Prison Liner
Rank Required: Capitaine
Far from luxurious, the Prison Liner is a bastion for society against the criminal elements of Gallia. Cold, dark, and intimidating, this ship is the specialized transport for moving prisoners throughout Gallic space. At present, it can most often be found carrying Council or Maquis pilots captured by the Royal Police.

With the eruption of the Second Gallic War and the isolation of the outer systems, the Royal Police units caught in the warzone have many duties to uphold.
Patrolling Royal Space:
Daily patrols on the territory upheld by the King's men (Dauphine, Burgundy, Lorraine) are to be made to ensure the integrity of Royal authority and safe trade/supply routes. Only enter Languedoc if it's proven to be really necessary and even then, do not leave the territory under Royal jurisdiction.
Preservation of Royal Authority:
In times of war, enemy ships are ravaging all around Gallia and not all of them can be kept in check. If Council or Maquis ships are encountered during a patrol and Navy help cannot be summoned, the Police must do everything in its power to preserve the King's authority. If the Navy calls for help in a battle, the Police are to help as soon as possible. A loyal officer must not be afraid to sacrifice his life for the Crown. Only through duty can Gallia be kept safe from its internal strife.
Protecting Gallia's Isolation:
By recent order of King Charles XI, Gallia's borders have been lawfully opened to Sirian traffic. Our primary objective is to ensure safety of civilian assets, and our system of license and fines help to ensure that commerce is flowing in a predictable and traceable manner. Be sure that all citizens are properly licensed, abiding by our laws, and not traveling with excessive speed down trade lanes. Force is authorized against those who fail to comply, so long as proper documentation is submitted following the incident. The Royal Police is the only network of security in the Gallic Borderworlds - be sure we're keeping our loyal citizens safe.
Dealing with Piracy:
It is important to ensure that Gallic citizens can travel through Gallia safely, and this means stopping those who pose risks. On occasion. When you feel like it.

Lets see how this goes, any feedback welcome and of course anyone who wants to join check out the recruitment thread
Good luck!
Probably would have been better if you hadn't just hijacked our old post completely and actually made your own stuff, you know? Because right now this is exactly how it was when I first wrote it up but with different listed members.

But okay whatever.
Yes we did use the original formatting. We are even using the original account thanks to you. If you actually read the first three paragraphs of this page, you will see why we did so. It wasn't out of laziness if that is what you are thinking. We still made plenty of edits and modifications to bring the page up to date and polish it a bit.
This post looks okay, for the most part. It's certainly good to see another Gallic faction rising up, and with luck you'll stick around for a while.

My main suggestion is to tone down the ranks a little bit. You shouldn't really need more than five or six, at least not until you have enough players to properly fill them.

Also, you're kidding, right?
Fixed the error.
Really?

You are disgusting.

I cannot wait to FR5 your entire faction from GRN bases.

I must admit, when I learned who was behind this faction reboot, I was already very skeptical. However, I was extremely happy to be proven wrong - or, at least, so I thought.
I'll tell you how this will turn out since you are already assuming the worst. All that will happen is that the GRP will be turning a blind eye to the congress when they are in Gallic space as long as they are not doing anything unlawful. If someone else happens to be watching us at the time, we will also act as if there was no agreement and will carry out our expected duties. This is no different than bribing any of the other corrupt police factions like the LPI or the RFP to look the other way when caught. If you want to make sure that we don't do this, you will have have GRN ships accompany every GRP patrol, and honestly, I don't mind, as it brings up Gallic activity. If you don't, the congress will start flying in Gallic space, also increasing activity in Gallia.
