It was 25 years ago..... on July 10th 791AS on planet Leeds, when a new person was born, he was named Henry Smith.

He was a regular child, born into a regular family, with no above average abilities, and life was normal for the child, he never had problems in school, or making friends, until... When he was 8 years old, it was the summer holidays on Leeds, he and his family were looking forward to a nice and relaxing location on planet New London, as they could not afford tickets to Luxury Liner Shetland. The journey went smooth, they jumped to New London smoothly, and took the Tradelane to Kensington Shipping Platform, when disaster struck. Just as the family shuttle left the Tradelane, there was a huge battle, numerous Gaians and Mollys were fighting, as well as a multitude of Bretonian Police forces. They tried to ignore the fight, but a stray missile hit the shuttle and caused it to nearly blow up, power to engines were lost and Smith and his family were stuck just outside a huge battle. However, a Gaian ship accidentally hit the shuttle, causing a hull breach, and there were only moments to reach for the escape pods. Just as everyone got into their escape pods they launched, and soon found themselves in space and at mercy of the winner of the conflict.

However, as luck would have it, the escape pod was damaged and air supply was dwindling, He struggled to keep consciousness, but eventually faded due to the lack of air... He soon started regaining his senses, however his eyes would not open, and he only heard a small amount of talk between what looked like 2 doctors.

Doctor 1: He is lucky he survived, he was without air for almost a full minute before we got him here.
Doctor 2: He may have survived, however staying for such a long period of time may have left some bad effects on him... and we cannot be sure if he will ever be perfectly healthy again.
Doctor 1: What about his parents
Doctor 2: His father seems to be recovering rather well, howe.....

And soon he lost his consciousness again... He awoke again, this time, he opened his eyes and looked around, he noticed he was in a hospital bed and had a large oxygen mask on his face, he tried to take it off, but a Doctor stopped him, however, he eventually removed it as he saw the boy was capable of breathing on his own. The boy was very dazed, however he seemed to regain his senses quickly, and soon lay back down.

Doctor: I see you are awake, don't strain yourself, you were very lucky to get through that alive.
HS: Owww... My head, it hurts... Wait.. what happened?
Doctor: I wouldn't be surprised you can't remember anything for a while, you were without air for a minute, you were lucky you didn't get any serious brain damage.
HS: What... happened?
Doctor: From what we know, we found many escape pods floating above Kensington Shipping Platform after a huge battle there, only 3 of them were civilian, you and your father and mother.
HS: My family... Are they alright?
Doctor: Your father has already recovered and can walk and is doing very well, however...
HS: Wait.. My mother.. is.. is she alright?
Doctor: We do not know right now, she is still unconscious at the moment, but she is barely still alive..

The boy lay back down and tried to hold back his tears, but he couldn't he started crying, and the doctor decided it would be better to leave the young boy alone. As he left the ward, all he heard was crying, and crying, but it stopped as the boy finally fell asleep due to his headache.

After the shock Henry Smith recovered at a fast pace, and he was soon reunited with his father, however, they heard that his mother had not made it and died due to a sever concussion that occurred when her escape pod was bumped by a fighter. The boy and his father made their way back home, and spent the rest of their summer holidays together on New London, but then finally decided to work their way home back to Leeds, where they arrived safely. And life continued normally, until that day, when everything changed.

It was April 4thJohn Smith was now 25 years old, working on the BMM base LD-14, living a normal life, bringing home his paycheck everyday, and of course drinking on weekends, but that day something changed. Smith was just getting ready for work, almost ready to go when he received a message on his computer, it was from his boss. He skimmed most of it, as he knew his boss always wrote a lot of what he called "unnecessary bollocks" at the top, and wrote the real meaning at the bottom he skipped most of the mail until the bottom, where it read "I really apologize for having to do this, but as we have many far more capable people then you, we regret to inform you of the decision of firing you, we hope you have a nice day. He was furious, and when he arrived at LD-14, he demanded that the security let's him through, but they wouldn't let him, and eventually escorted him off the station, his only remaining choice was to go back to Leeds.

When he arrived back at Leeds, he was unsure what to do, he had 20,000 credits left, and no job. He decided to try his luck, he packed all of his necessities and boarded a transport heading to Planet Manhattan, he though that he would be able to make something out of his life there. When he arrived at Manhattan he just stared, he never was here, and the city truly was majestic and gigantic, but after the shock he said to himself: "I need a ship". So he went to the nearest spaceship store, however the prices were too much for him, so he decided to try his luck at a used spaceship store. After some bargaining he landed him self a used Starflier.

When he entered his new used Starflier, he immediately flew to the landing pad, he thought to himself: "I'm sure i can pick up a mission or a few tips from the bar there.. and i could use a drink.. and some money." As he started up the ship, the computer sprang to life, he was very surprised to find it loaded with an AI, something rarely seen on a ship, so he activated it, and it booted up, as the AI initialized it said: "Greetings master Ogris". Smith was unsure of what to make of it, and instructed the AI to fly to the landing pad, figuring it would save some hassle, the AI obliged without hesitation. As the ship flew towards the landing pad he was puzzled, just who left this AI in here? What for? But in the end he though: "Hmm Ogris huh? I kind of like that name... guess I'll have the AI stick around for a bit more". As the ship approached the landing pad, night started forming, he decided he needed some sleep, luckily there was a motel nearby. It was a crazy day for Smith, and he wasted no time going to bed, he crashed out moments after, he figured he would be better at deciding what to do when he wasn't tired....

//(I don't blame you if you don't read the above near 7000!!! characters of text.. but if you do, i hope you enjoyed it)
When Henry Smith woke up, he looked at the time, it was 9am, however, the streets were already buzzing, deciding he needs a drink he dressed up and made his way to the local bar. Inside he saw many faction representatives, and they all gave him a quick eye, Smith thought nothing of it and ordered himself a drink and sat down, he was soon approached by a business man, he quickly looked at him, he seemed 30 years old, the man spoke first.

Man: May i sit down here?
HS: Go right ahead.
Man: I know what you are thinking right now, this guy wants me to join his faction bla bla, that is not true however, i present you a different offer, that could make you rich very quickly.

Smith looked curiously at the man, he saw this was not just another faction representative, but someone else, the man continued talking.

Man: Let's just say that this could be an easy 5 million credits for you, but only if you are interested
Smiths eyes glowed with excitement.
HS: I'm interested... but only if it does not involve me blowing up, i don't have enough money to replace my ship
Man: Don't worry, there is not much more danger involved then a regular trip through space, and everyone get's free insurance. If you are interested, be at Fort Bush at 4PM LST(/berty standard time.. just made that up).

The man left the table, and smith looked at his drink that he still didn't even take a sip from, he quickly drank it and started looking around the bar again, he soon noticed a man that looked liked a freelancer, he quickly spoke to him, the man turned around.. Smith thought he saw that face before but couldn't make it out, but instead of just staring at him he started a conversation.
HS: Uh, hello, do you maybe know of a quick way to gain some money?
He knew that sounded awful, but he felt confident.
Man: Hmm, i heard that Pittsburgh is in need of water right now... i am sure you can find some somewhere on Manhattan, now if you do not mind, i must be on my way.
And the man left the bar, Smith tried to follow him, but he lost all trace of the man, he sighed loudly, paid for his drink and went to the commodity dealer.

He managed to secure a full hold of water for 500 credits, which was very cheap, he quickly hopped into his Starflier and made his way towards Pittsburgh, it was 10 AM, when he arrived there, he sold his entire hold of water for 1000 credits, which made him very happy, he looked around and the only commodity to ship back to Manhattan was Boron, he bought a full load for 5,000 credits, he risked a lot on it, but he sold it for 6,500 credits, he knew he hit a great opportunity and kept trading, time flew by, it was 3 PM, and he landed on Manhattan, he figured it was enough for the day, and when he checked his cash reserves he had a total of 25,000 credits, which was a lot for him. He went into the ship dealers office and looked around, he saw a new Startracker being sold for 35,000. After a while he had himself a new Startracker, however, it lacked weapons, and the only thing he kept was the strange AI from the old ship.

He looked at the time, it was 30 minutes until 4 PM, he quickly undocked and flew towards Fort Bush, where the man told him to go, when he arrived there he got greeted by captain Bill Mason of a liberty cruiser,
BM: Here for the race i guess?
Smith hesitated, but answered
HS: Uhh, yeah, i guess so
BM: Well line up, we got a few more people to come here and then we start racing, it's from here to FP4 to New London and back.

New London... the place where his mother died, he just froze for a second before he entered formation with the cruiser, he was then briefed on the race details, straight to FP4, dock there, go to New London dock, go back to FP4, dock, and finally back here. Smith had never been in a race before so he was unsure of how well he would do but he was ready for it. Before the race in the chatter he met another pilot, his ship had the codename KingAbbott, he found him friendly and quite a competitive character, he met a lot of other people as well, and his loneliness suddenly disappeared.

He was enjoying the chatter when he suddenly heard "race starting in 1 minute", his heart started racing, he knew if he would win he would receive 5 million credits. But then he heard over the comms "We appreciate every racer, so everyone who finishes the race receives 150,000!" Which was met by cheers all around, a huge weight was lifter off his shoulders, he knew he just had to finish it. However the race was about to begin. Five... Four... Three... Two... One..

GO, the racers were off, He engaged cruise engines and headed to the tradelane, he had no idea what he was doing, but that is when his AI suddenly started up and said "Get as close to the center of the top tradelane ring before you dock, it will save you some time". Smith followed, unsure if what he was doing was correct, but he found himself in the tradelane in 3rd place, something he didn't foresee happening. When they dropped out of tradelane, he quickly ran to the other tradelane, he did the same and found himself in the lead! Smith was shocked, but soon they dropped out, a Rouge patrol shot the tradelane down, that is when the AI started talking again "Wait by the tradelane, dock as soon as it comes back up". And that is what he did, two other racers engaged cruise and ran for the next ring, but the tradelane was back up in a few seconds, he docked through and sped away, he kept going and soon was at the California jumpgate. He quickly ran for the gate, and managed to go through first, with 3 other racers right on top of him. When they reached Mojave however, pirates attacked again, Smith barely fled while the other two racers were shot down and now had a big lead, however he did not stop racing, he ran for the jumpgate, and arrived in Magellan with half a huge lead. As he left FP4, the race report came in, the other racers were barely arriving in Magellan, and so he jumped into Manchester with a huge lead. He was near the New London JG in Manchester when he heard that the Magellan Jumpgate was sabotaged, he now had a whole systems lead. He arrived in New London with a huge lead, and from this point on only cared about bringing the ship back to Fort Bush...

And it did arrive at Fort Bush, he had won the race, he was unsure how he did it, but 5 million was his, and he was on his way, he went to FP4, to see what he could do now, he was free, and he had the money to buy a good ship. When he arrived at FP4 for the third time ever, he stepped into the bar, there he met an old co-worker when he still worked on LD-14. He sat down next to him, and they exchanged words, they talked about women, they laughed, they drank, and they had fun. At the end of conversation his old co-worked said "You know, the IMG are always keen to have people working for them, and their pay policy is "you get what you earn", consider it friendly advice..", and his old co-worker left the bar. Smith was confused, but knew he had to get a job, 5 million credits was a big advice but it wouldn't last him forever, so he went to the bartender and asked him how to sign up for the IMG. The bartender just grabbed his card and did something to it, Smith just watched, he got the card back with the words "Welcome to the IMG".

Smith left FP4 and decided to try his luck, he was free now, he was free to go where he wanted, he was free to mine where he wanted, trade whenever he wanted... he really felt he had no limits on what he could do. He met a guy who called himself 'Nemesis', he said he was going to LD-14 with boron, it sold for alot, so Smith decided to tag along for a bit, When they dropped off their cargo and collected their credits, Nemesis said he had to meet up with a friend called Sovereign. Smith decided to tag along, and soon they found themselves in Munich, that is when Smith put his eyes on a freighter, he knew he had to have it, he just did, he didn't know why, but something was drawing him towards it, it was a Kushan Freighter. 1.8 Million credits later Smith had himself a new ship, one that had a very sizable cargo hold, Nemesis also purchased himself a new ship, it was what people call the "Humpback".

The group worked their way back to New York, Smith thanked them for the trip, but said he must be off, as he has to earn some money as well, and the group parted, and Smith worked his way over to Dublin. Smith just drove around the system, and managed to chart all of it, once he has done that, he worked is way over to the Independent Mining Field, and started mining. He arrived on the hood with a full load, and made quite a bit of money selling his 360 pieces of gold, but it was very late now so he decided to head to the bar to have a quick drink before going to bed.

In the bar he ordered a quick drink, but soon found out that they also hold betting competitions on races, he decided to skip the betting, but met the same person he did on Manhattan, he still could not recognize who he was, despite trying his hardest to, he could not recall who he was. The man only said one thing "Go to Tau-23, Java Outpost, there is great fortune to be made there". And the man left the bar. Smith did not follow him as he was too tired, he called it a day and turned into his bed and decided to sleep, before he fell asleep he thought to himself: "Tau-23? Java Outpost? What is there that could make me money?", he eventually decided not to focus on it today and fell asleep.

BLOODY F------ MINUTE
*sounds of arm hitting alarm clock and grunt of pain*
I'm up dammit... gah, stupid alarm clock..

It was morning on the IMG Battleship Hood, John Smith was just getting up, he decided to skip going to the bar, he though that the earlier he get's the money, the earlier he can party all night. He got dressed, ate a small breakfast, and hopped into his Kushan Freigher and headed into the asteroid field, he was about halfway through when a message came through on the secure channel..."Now who could that be?" *click, beeeep*. A face showed up on the ship's computer, Smith was pleasantly shocked it was KingAbbott. They started to have a conversation, Smith kept on mining and talking about what he had been doing since they met at the race. It seemed KingAbbott joined the liberty navy as a freelancer militia, but had problem keeping his spot due to competition, regardless he accepted Smith's request of an escort. They arrived in Manhattan without any trouble and Smith unloaded his cargo, and gave Abbott his share of the money, the headed towards the California jumpgate when they met Sovereign, who Smith met last night.

HS: Hey Sov, how have you been?
Sovereign: Pretty good, just trading
HS: Cool mind if i come along?
Sovereign: Sure no problem, Boron to LD-14 again.

When they arrived at LD-14 Sovereign said that he has to go take care of an errand in New York, so he left the group, while Smith and Abbott decided to proceed into Tau-31 to chart the system and find possible mine-able areas. When they arrived in Tau-31 they proceeded to Planet Harris, to see what they have for sale there

Abbott: Well i've been thinking..
HS: Hmm?
Abbott: The Liberty Navy isn't quite for me, too many people, too noisy, the pay is awfull... Do you think i could maybe join the IMG?
HS: Well... i am heading towards Tau-23 to Java Outpost, that is an IMG outpost, you might be able to sort it out there.
Abbott: Let's go there then shall we?
HS: Alright.

The two pilots made their way towards the Tau-23 jumpgate, the system was empty of pirate activity due to the war betwen Bretonia and Kusari, however the same was not true for Tau-23, it was swarming with pirates, they barely fought them off, but they made it, and started to plot their course for the far side of the system, towards Java Outpost... But then

Abbott: Hey I found a jumphole here! But it doesn't show up any on any list I've looked it up on... I'm not sure where it goes, but i assume it must be safe as two outcasts just came through it.

The pair made their way towards the jumphole and made short work of the pirates, nearing the jumphole, Smith reluctantly went through first, the jump was very rough and the wormhole corridor was very tight, but he made it to the other system and got shivers down his spine. The system was dead empty apart from a planet which had no info whatsoever in any government database, it felt like a ghost system. However the pair made their way through it, and found a jumphole, unsure where it goes too Smith went through it first... It was a bad idea. As soon as Smith left the wormhole he heard "Shields failed", and fell into momentary shock... Followed by a very strong surge of emotions.

HS: WHAT THE F---
Abbott: Oh dear, VERY BAD IDEA, Let's get out of here!
The pair quickly jumped back, and quickly made their way to the Tau-23 Jumphole
HS: That was F------ Bulls---, how did they get such powerful guns?
Abbott: I heard stories about these "guard factions" they supposedly have stronger guns then can be bought, and the most skilled pilots out of the entire faction...
HS: Let's just head to Java Base, our ships are barely holding together.
Abbott: Agreed...

The pair arrived at Java Base and docked, Abbott followed Smith to the bar, whereupon he managed to land a job at the IMG, however his ship was badly damaged and unable to move, he could not mine, or do anything for quite a while.
Abbott: My ship is in really bad shape, I'm going to have to stay here, don't die out there alright?
HS: Don't worry... I won't.... I hope...
Smith patted Abbott on the back and set off, towards the very top of the system, hoping to find a mining spot that was not full of pirates, however, he found something else, a jumphole. He checked government databases, nothing on the jumphole, he checked the IMG database and something came up "Tau-44 System jumphole, IMG system. System data:
- 2 Asteroid Fields
- 1 Nebula
- 4 Planets
- 4 Stations
!!! Warning; Guard system, approach with extreme caution!!!
Smith gulped, he knew that going through could be very dangerous, but he figured he would be safe, he works for the IMG after all, doesn't he? And he was safe, he arrived in Tau-44 safely, and when he arrived his jaw dropped.

The system was beautiful, it had the perfect scenery, massive asteroid fields, nebulae, amazing planets... He could not believe he was truly here. As he regained from shock he saw a station nearby, he set course for it and engaged cruise engines, he still could not believe how beautiful the system was.. He arrived at the station and docked. He approached the equipment dealer and saw they had some really amazing guns for sale, guns he had never seen before, he stocked up. He scouted the system, however he was very wary of a nebula at the far edge of the system, he decided to go through it, once he passed through, he reached a IMG Shipyard, He docked with it. He approached the ship dealer and asked him how much the most expensive ship cost... Smith almost dropped his jaw again, SEVEN HUNDRED MILLION!!! He could not believe it, no ship is truly worth that much.. is it? The ship dealer however was unwilling to show him the ship and Smith left the shipyard, heading back towards Tau-23 to dock with Java Outpost and turn in for the day, He arrived safely and wen't to the bar where he met Abbott, they had a few drinks, they talked, they had fun, and Smith explained about Tau-44. Abbott Agreed to see Tau-44 with Smith the next day, but right now they both agreed what they needed most is sleep, so they both decided to head to their beds...
