I am interested in some experience that you made when flying transports and encountering capital pirates. Aim is to get more than a vague impression how that rule translates into reality when the trader does not use the option of paying up.

Please post:

- Enemy shipclass:
- Your transport class:
- Your armor:
- Your cargo:
- Demand made:
- How long you survived under fire:
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started):
- General observations:

Example Entry1:

- Enemy shipclass: Corsair Cruiser
- Your transport class: Shire Battle Transport
- Your armor: CAU6
- Your cargo: none (was a test run to see how the transport performs under cap fire)
- Demand made: 3 million
- How long you survived under fire: ~50 seconds
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 0 %
- General observations: Made it to only ~600 meters distance, while turretsteering&dodging, but was torn up by turret fire incredibly fast.

Example Entry2:

- Enemy shipclass: Corsair Cruiser
- Your transport class: Hegemon
- Your armor: UAU8
- Your cargo: Silver (not full)
- Demand made: 1,8 million
- How long you survived under fire: ~10 seconds
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 0 %

You can see the seconds in the DSAce.log file if you switched on the time stamps.
-Enemy ship class: LABC;
-My transport class: Percheron;
-My armor: UAU 8;
-My cargo: none;
-Demand made: It was a test in conn;
-How long I survived under fire: Long. Missiles hit me eventually;
-My chance of survival: 30%;
-General observations: Made it to 4.1k. Percheron is small, agile and evades well, so I didn't take much damage from the LABC's guns. I lost just 1/3 of my hull. 2 missiles ended my flight eventually. I didn't have any regens nor ammo. The LABC was standing in one place and didn't chase me. It was just standing and shooting.

If a lonely BS attacks a transport, the transport can freely cruise away because the BS doesn't have any CDs. So, the pirates must be in a group if they have a BS. And, the fact that they're numerous makes your chances of surviving equal to zero. Cruisers, however, are much better pirate ships.
Something off-topic but I think Cruiser-Battleships should have a maximum demand quantity like 1mil or 500.000.

I never got pirated by a cap yet and don't think I ever will.... :D
Observed Cloud-Tancing, Kusari Big Dragon being blown. Not a record, but 33 seconds. Not too bad.:)

Please post:

- Enemy shipclass: Corsair Cruiser
- Transport class: Kusari Train
- Your armor: ?
- Your cargo: ?
- Demand made: ?
- How long you survived under fire: 33 seconds, even though he was distracted by a bomber and sometimes fired at the bomber
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 0 %
- General observations: As always. Death is inevitable. He had no chance to dodge the turret fire and attempting to cruise got him disrupted and killed almost instantly.

- Enemy shipclass: Corsair Cruiser (seeing a trend here)
- Your transport class: Ragnarok
- Your armor: UA8
- Your cargo: nothing
- Demand made: nothing, I saw him fighting a RM and joined in
- How long you survived under fire: 1 minute maybe
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 30%
- General observations: I am testing some transport-interceptor setups, using typical guns with a couple of cannonballs and a screamer mine. I saw a known pirate cruiser being engaged by an RM bomber so I thought I would test the ship against cruiser fire. I was able to avoid his turret fire alright, but missiles caught me when I started shield-running.
- Enemy shipclass: Outcast Destroyer
- Your transport class: Kamome
- Your armor: CAU8
- Your cargo: Oxygen
- Demand made: 1 million
- How long you survived under fire: Long enough to kited around until a bomber wing could arrive.
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 100%
- General observations: A Kamome being small and agile enough to dodge the fire, but to increase your chance of survival it is vital to distance yourself from the capital ship as quickly as possible. I got caught as I exited a gate jump, but as soon as I saw the Destroyer I turned my ship to get away from it, and started to dodge the fire. A few missiles did score a hit, but shields were online. CM's and/or quick turns would help dodge the missiles as well.

And yes, we did use my Kamome as bait.
%100 survivability so far. The more runs of %100 success the more trivial it will be when one finally does get me. I'll keep you updated.
The problem I see, and that the GMG's experiences highlight, is you're taking this at a straight 1v1, cruiser versus transport level.

If you go in and treat a pirating cruiser (or a lawful cruiser stopping a smuggler) as a normal pirate fighter/bomber/gunboat, you're going to have a bad time /ski instructor

If you trade smart, you can avoid altercations altogether, or at the least set yourself up to escape before you're even in guns range. Escorts (and decoys, as Asbestos' post shows) can work wonders, especially if you have them scout ahead for threats. This has always been true, and now more than ever.
- Enemy shipclass: GRN cruiser
- Your transport class: Luccilus liner. (gallic liner)
- Your armor: CAU7
- Your cargo: none (was a test run to see how the transport performs under cap fire)
- Demand made: (none, test)
- How long you survived under fire: ~20-30 seconds
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 2%
- General observations: all 12 of my guns do same dmg as 1 cruiser cerb. I fail to see how this makes sense.

Liner too large to dodge fire effectively and too slow to escape. good vs other transports but thats really it.
-Enemy shipclass: Bretonien Cruiser/dessie
- Your transport class:Raba
- Your armor: UA8
- Your cargo: some odd 500 optronics + 500 alloys
- Demand made: leave bretonian space or die, bribed for some 3 mil
- How long you survived under fire: didn't go to the end, put propably 30-40 sec
- Judge your chance of survival (after engagement started): 0
- General observations: Once within CD range you are toast...should have started cruise engines before typing
