Fleet Admiral Hale, Sir. This is First Lieutenant Alex Melnikov, Libertonian Marine Corps, attached to Captain Baker's 237th Strike Flotilla. I have dire news to report, there was a major political incident tonight, and something I'd say is damn near a declaration of war.
Captain Baker was aboard a Kusari Luxury Yacht, in orbit of Manhattan tonight, attempting to bring a Samuran director by the name of Kaido Marahu, into protective custody. Mister Marahu believed that, due to a conversation he'd had with Captain Baker, his life would be in danger if he returned to Kusari. At least that is my understanding of all this...but I digress.
The point is that while Captain Baker was aboard the Yacht, a Kusari destroyer showed up in Manhattan space and began accosting the Yacht, which was, apparently disabled already. The Kusari destroyer was a Kempeitai warship, whose captain accused mister Marahu of betraying Kusari, shortly before a second Kempeitai warship disengaged it's cloaking device and opened fire on the Yacht, destroying it within seconds. A firefight broke out shortly thereafter, between forces of the Liberty Navy Secondary and Primary Fleets, and the Kempeitai warships. One was destroyed and one managed to escape.
Shortly afterward, I, aboard the Liberty Logistics Ship Crystal Lake, began Search and Rescue operations, looking for escape pods. I found the pod containing both Director Kaido, and Captain Baker. It was severely damaged, and when the crew managed to free them from it, it was discovered that the two of them were in critical condition.
Kaido and the Captain were both transferred to the Medical facilities aboard the Secondary Fleet Dreadnought LNS Arbitrator, where surgery was commenced to treat their wounds and stabilize them...
This is all way over my head, I'm just a Marine!...but they're both (Captain Baker and Director Marahu) in critical, yet stable condition.
I...Sir, I want to know what to do! I want to know what WE, the Navy, are going to do! We can't let this go unpunished! Foreign warships nearly killing a Naval Officer, in her own space!?
I...just, it's too much, Sir...I've said all I can...I'll let Commander Sanders fill you in on the rest of the details..
