Avery Hughes started life on the resource-rich planet of Leeds. His parents were very loving; giving young Avery all that he needed and nurturing in him a love of learning, and of the Commonwealth. Being a Bretonian citizen, Avery was born under a monarchy with Queen Carina coming to power during his childhood. Avery and his family moved from Leeds to New London when he was a boy, and was inundated with the pageantry of the monarchy and all it stood for.
Avery was taken in by the revelers, and as he grew into adulthood, was more and more enthralled with the military aspect of the Commonwealth. The military, as Avery found out, split into two factions, with the Admiralty on one hand, and a rogue admiral named Richard Windsor commanding a branch under the direct command of the Queen herself. This was what Avery wanted to do; serve his nation and his Queen.
The war with Kusari had been dragging on for two years by the time Avery was old enough to join the armed forces. Avery wanted to do something about this as well. He'd heard that the QCRF was divided into three separate divisions, one each for the rank-and-file, the blue-blood aristocracy, and a fringe group about which little was known. Avery knew he would never be accepted to the QCO, as his bloodline was not of noble descent, but with a good chance at getting into the Regulars, he sent his application to the Queen Carina Royal Forces command center, and received a response from Commander Isaac Brock the next day. He'd been accepted to the QCR. With nothing more than his satchel on his shoulder, Avery Hughes left his home and never looked back, eager to take the fight to the Kusari and push them back to their own doorstep.
