--------------------

Aki was born on a cargo transport bound from bretonia t o kusari, long before the war that plagues both nations now. Her mother was Suki Kimura, a full-blooded Kusari woman with secret ties to the Golden Chrysanthemum movement. Her father was Charles Wicksburgh, a Bretonian trader - and owner of the transport. Suki Kimura died in childbirth, but known to few beared a second child - an Identical twin to Aki.

The twin sister was raised by the father, while Aki was sent to Suki's sister on Planet Honshu. Aki proved an exceptional student in her youth, but was easily distracted by daydreams and fantasies of space travel. Against her god-mother's wishes, she signed on with Kishiro Enterprises at the age of 16 as an escort fighter pilot.

The Kishiro pilot training course took a standard student six months; Aki completed it in two. She proved an exceptional fighter pilot, though a bit eccentric and 'wild' in attitude. She was considered by fellow pilots a hot-shot that was as likely to be shot down by allies as enemies.

After roughly two years escorting Kishiro's transport convoys, she found herself in a battle worse than any that had come before. Blood Dragons had ambushed the convoy as it moved Hokkaido, and had quickly dispatched most of the escorts.

Against all odds, Aki - the last remaining escort pilot - held back the dragon onslaught until a Naval Forces patrol arrived to investigate the distress call sent out by the Kishiro convoy. The commander of the patrol was thoroughly impressed by Aki's skill and handling of the situation, and offered her a recommendation to the naval forces flight academy. She took it without hesitation - the chance to fly some of the best fighter craft in Kusari was one she could not pass up.

Similar to her Kishiro training, Aki completed the Naval forces flight program in nearly half the time it took others. She served onboard Battleship Matsumoto for roughly four years, and during that time became increasingly worried about the direction Kusari was taking. The highest ranks within the naval forces and government had been infiltrated during the nomad war, and the nation was doing nothing about it. Rather, tensions with bretonia were increasing and Aki was sent on more and more missions against local pirates.

Alien threats were coming into view, and they were being ignored by the masses. Everyone seemed more than happy to play ignorant in the face of impending doom, and Aki grew more frustrated at their inaction by the day.

Two years ago, Aki came into contact with members of the 'terrorist' faction known as the Order. To most, they were nothing but rampant militaristic criminals, but their purpose was presented to her quite clearly - to defend humanity, in it's entirety, from nonhuman threats. They were just the thing she had been looking for, an organization that payed attention to space beyond house borders and werent afraid to combat it.

She joined up with the Order a week later, dissapearing from Kusari space without a word. Kusari Naval Command listed her as officially missing in action, presumed to have been killed on her last mission against the Blood Dragon terrorists.

Upon admittance into the Order, Aki spent a month learning about their technology, their ships, and their enemies - which proved to be more vast and more powerful than she had ever imagined. While she believed the nomads were the only threat to the human race, she was informed of other groups of aliens and unknowns... the phantoms, the wilde, and more. After her month in training, she was given the rank of Ensign and assigned to an Anubis-class fighter wing.

Two months later, after a perfect record and dozens of kills, she was promoted to Lieutenant, and given both her own fighter wing as well as one of the newer, more advanced Nephthys class fighter craft. The promotion paled in comparison to her future, however.

Only a month after her promotion to lieutenant, she was pulled back by the regent fleet admiral and assigned as a pilot to the Pakhet - one of the first ships in the Order/Zoner joint fleet project. The Pakhet, a Zoner-designed Fearless class destroyer, had been refitted with Order technology. The crew was a mix of the two factions - the purpose behind the project being to adapt Order personnel to Zoner ships so that they could be added to active fleet. In exchange for Zoner ships, the Order gave their newfound allies enhanced technology and weaponry gleaned from Liberty's most classified shipyards.

During her service onboard the Pakhet, the reigning sub-commander was killed in an engagement with nomads. For her rank, and excellent past record, Aki received a field promotion from the ship's commander, taking the sub-commander's place as second in command. That commander; Howard Eisen, leaves most of the ship's operation to Aki - and spends most of his time in his quarters, relaying information to the Order's admirals and analysing information gained from their encounters with nomad patrols.

<<<Encrypted Communique from Order High Command>>>
Transmission from: Fifth Fleet Admiral Donogan Hues
Transmission to: Sixth Fleet Admiral Reginald Barkley

Hues:
Admiral Barkley, I want you to get a full systems and crew report from Sub-Commander Aki Kimura on the joint-destroyer Pakhet. High command is stepping up the joint Order/Zoner fleet project to top priority.

Barkley:
Will do, Admiral. May I ask what's going on with the joint project?

Hues:
The zoners have several new ships under development, most importantly something they're labelling an 'armored transport'. We've only seen preliminary design schematics on the vessel, but it looks to be just what we need.

Barkley:
And what would that be, sir?

Hues:
The Prowler stealth system being developed by our engineers. It's designed to hide a ship from any and all scanners, even the scanners liberty is using to detect and track our cloaked ships right now. The prowler is more of a sensor jamming and refracting system than a true cloak however, it doesnt hide the ship visually.
Up until now our own ship designers have been unable to construct a proper prototype, however. Everything we come up with is too slow, too bulky, doesnt have enough power, or doesnt fit a shape that allows the Prowler system to hide it. It appears the Zoners have gotten past these problems - though they dont intend to equip it with any such sensor jammers.

Barkley:
So we'll finally have a real recon vessel... about time. Liberty is getting leagues ahead of us, our ship stealing days are long gone.

Hues:
We dont know for certain if the Prowler will work on this ship the Zoners are building, but if it does we have resources and maintenance teams set aside to procure and retrofit several of the craft. Sub-Commander Kimura has proven to be an excellent officer on official records, though a bit rash... if it's possible I'd like to get her running the first of these vessels that finishes production - but you are not authorized to tell her anything we've said here, we clear?

Barkley:
Of course, admiral. Signing out.

The inter-ship comm beeped in Aki's quarters, and she rolled across the bed to hit the voice button. Mumbling, still half asleep, she responded, "What?"

"Sub-Commander, there's a priority one message coming in for you." The ensign on the other end replied.

"Have the cap'n take it" She groaned as she rolled back over, trying to get back to sleep.

"The message is for you, ma'am, not the captain."

Aki sighed and sat up, "Arright, patch it through."

She stumbled over to the desk in the corner of her quarters where a computer screen jumped to life. The face of the sixth fleet admiral appeared, and aki jumped, trying to cover herself... it generally wasnt standard protocol to talk to fleet admirals half naked. She quickly sat down at the desk so only her face appeared on the admiral's end.

"Sleep well?" He asked in a stern, criticizing voice.

"Uh, sorry admiral, Eisen's on watch now and I just finished a thirty-six hour shift." She stammered.

"No need for explanations. Listen, I need a report from you on the Pakhet's performance and systems. High command wants to push the joint order-zoner fleet project to the next level, and they need input from officers who have been serving aboard the current ships."

"Yes sir... uh... permission to speak freely sir?" Aki said, trying to rub the sleep from her eyes.

"Go ahead." Responded the admiral, with an impatient tone to his voice.

"What do you mean, 'next level'? We've already got zoner destroyers and battleships operating with the order, we've tested weapon and systems compatibility on these ships, and we've had plenty of order crewmen learn how zoner ships operate... I dont see much of a next level to go to..."

"I cant reveal all information yet, but I'll let you in on what little I know. Word from high command says that the zoners are developing a new line of ships, including a remarkable armored transport. We want relations with the zoners to keep up as they have been - if we can get some of those transports we might be able to create what our own engineers have failed to thus far."

"Not sure I follow, admiral..." Aki replied, a bit nervously at testing the admiral's patience.

"From initial design schematics, this 'armored transport' the zoners are building is small, fast, and very efficiently constructed. High command wants to try out some new systems that have been developed in the field of surveillance and recon - they want to turn one of these transports into a stealth ship."

"Dont the Osiris battleships already have functional cloaking devices?"

"The Osiris is getting out of date, it just cant stand up to the enemies we've been facing recently. It's too large to serve as an efficient recon ship, and the cloaking devices used onboard those behemoths suck enough energy to power an entire planet. The newer stealth systems dont render a ship invisible but are much more efficient at hiding it from scanners, and frankly that's what we need right now - we havent had any reliable intel from liberty or the other houses in years because they've got methods of detecting our cloaked ships."

"Understood, Sir. I'll have a report filed and transmitted by the end of the week."

Aki shut down the comm screen and wearily crawled back into bed.
Aki sighed sleepily as she finished compiling the Pakhet's systems analysis report and sent the file back to high command. The admiral had quite subtly hinted at a future promotion by giving the task to her and not the ship's commander, but she wasnt sure where that promotion would lead. A new ship? 'True' command over the Pakhet? Not like she didnt already have that, Eisen left most of the ship's operations up to her already.

She was a bit unsettled by the thought of another promotion however... it was never something she truly looked forward to. Promotion meant change, and change was hard to deal with. After all, each new rank brought along with it the added weight of additional responsibility - it was already difficult enough conducting assault operations on the houses as a sub commander, more weight was likely to crush her.

Still, there was always a bright side to promotion as well... more liberties, more luxuries. Order captains and commanders had complete control over their vessel for all intents and purposes... they could request specific personnel to crew their ship, or request for specific equipment to be installed by the Order shipyards. Captain Eisen had not taken much in regard to those luxuries... the Pakhet had an excellent chef, but other than that was kept to the bare minimums - a true warship in nature. The beds were hard and cold, the showers were small, free space was severely limited, many of the lower ranking crewmen even had to share bunks - Only Eisen and Aki were given full sized crew quarters to themselves.

Thinking on that, Aki stretched out on her bed and fell back to sleep. Only two more hours till she was called to command duty.
Aki gazed out the bridge viewport of the Pakhet as they patrolled the perimiter of Omicron 100. The system was generally uneventful - there were no nomads, no bounty hunters, no liberty... really, nobody but the order was here, though there were occasional smugglers caught trying to move through the system that had to be stopped and in some cases destroyed.

"Sub-Commander, there's a message incoming from high command for you" Said the ensign at the comm station.

"Put it up" Aki replied.

The commscreen projected the holographic image of the sixth fleet admiral's face against the viewport of the bridge. He spoke up, "Ah, Aki... I was hoping you were on duty, and in uniform..."

Aki Blushed a bit at the reference, none of the other bridge crew understood what he was talking about though. She regained herself, "What can I do for you admiral?"

"I received your report on the Pakhet's systems, High command is pleased... they want to give you command of your own ship, but that's not possible at this time - we just dont have any vessels to spare." The admiral said.

"I'm... honored... sir; but it's alright, I dont mind staying here for now, the Pakhet has been a good ship and she's never let me down." Aki responded.

"Dont worry, you'll get your own command eventually... I'll see to it. In the meantime, I've been authorized to ammend your current ranking - High command is giving you Order Guard status. I trust you know what that entails... I've got another comm coming in, I'll contact you later Sub-Commander. Sixth fleet out."

The communication cut. Aki smiled to herself; It was an honor to be made part of the Order guard... only the best pilots and officers were granted such status, and it offered her a great deal more autonomy in order operations - gave her the authorization to make decisions in the field that she would otherwise have to report to high command before making.
<Retroactive Ship Report - Destroyer Pakhet>
Compiled by Commander Aki Kimura, Order Guard

-Begin Report-

After several months on medical leave recovering from severe injuries, I return to duty to find that High Command never filed a report on the destruction of the Zoner-Order Destroyer "Pakhet". To lay the spirits of my crew to rest, I feel it necessary to compile this report myself, and explain the occurances that lead up to the destruction of the vessel.

<Patrol Report: Omicron Gamma System, 816 AS>

A bounty hunter task force was encountered in the vicinity of the Omicron Kappa Jump hole, within the Omicron Gamma system. The task force consisted of one guild battleship, two guild destroyers, an orca-class gunboat, and a single wing of fighter support. The Pakhet remained at maximum sensor range while awaiting backup from the Corsair defense fleet on the far side of Crete.

Once Corsair support arrived, the Pakhet lead the engagement against the enemy. Seventeen minutes after the initial collision of our forces, the bounty hunter task force retreated through to omicron kappa. Commander Eisen ordered a pursuit through the jump hole.

<Patrol Report: Omicron Kappa System, 816 AS>

Upon arrival in Omicron kappa, our combined Order/Corsair fleet was ambushed by awaiting bounty hunter forces. The task group we had engaged in kappa was merely the bait for their trap. On the other side of the jump hole laid an entire fleet, three more groups of the same composition as the task force we had originally engaged.

Our fleet was quickly scattered by the ambush, but we were unable to get away. Eisen ordered a retreat back through the jump hole to Gamma for all order and corsair ships. Just as we hit the event horizon of the jump hole, a mortar blast knocked out the Pakhet's intertial stability generator. We tumbled through the jump tunnel, while the Pakhet disintegrated around us. Only a handful of the crew made it to an escape pod before the Pakhet was spewed into gamma in a million peices.

Sometimes I think I should have stayed behind with the captain, died with the crew and ship. The Isis' psychotherapists keep telling me that's the wrong line of thinking, but it feels right...

<Evac Report: Omicron Gamma System, 816 AS>

Only two of the Pakhet's ten escape pods were successfully launched. We lost forty-three of the ship's fifty crew members, including Captain Eisen. Myself and the others in my escape pod - security officer williams and crewmen michaels and jonathan - had all suffered severe plasma burns from a flash fire in the pakhet's hallways, before being able to close the pod's hatch and launch.

Our pod was recovered twenty minutes later by a zoner transport that had been alerted by surviving corsair vessels retreating back to gamma. For whatever reason, the bounty hunters never followed us back - sensors had detected a distant nomad battlegroup in Kappa, perhaps they had engaged.

-End of Official Logs-

I've been in medical recovery on leave for three months now, recovering from plasma burns and inhalation. Thankfully I have recovered fully with no lasting injuries.

Upon return to active duty, High command promoted me to Commander Rank for bravery and service in battle. I dont think I deserve the recognition, everyone else aboard the pakhet that died - they were the real heroes. Command has given me access to one of the Apophis' nephthys-class fighters, claiming that there are no ships available for my command at the moment.

According to reports from Evora shipyards, the newest generation of Order warships should be completed within the next several months. The sixth fleet admiral has assured me that I will be given command of one of those vessels when they are completed.

For now, I'm returning to guard duty in Omicron Minor and 100.
