Greetings Bretonian Authorities

Let me introduce myself, I am Oystein Baadsvik, the Head of Security at Platinum Incorporated. I don’t know how aware of us you are so allow me to tell you a bit about our business. We are a splinter group off Deep Space Engineering who focus on mining Platinum Ore from our headquarters in the Alberta system. Most of the ore we obtain gets transported through third parties to Waterloo station in orbit of Planet New London. However we transport a certain amount ourselves directly there and pick up Bretonian goods for the return journey.

Our company has decided that it’s in our best interests to transport more of our ore ourselves directly to New London. To do that we are requesting permission for jump access into the New London system. One of our trusted customers is a zoner called Deanna Troi. She has recently upgraded from a transport and is now in command of a Zoner ‘Aquilon’ Carrier equipped with a Jump Drive Series IV which is christened Imzadi. She is willing to jump our trade ships to the New London system from where we are situated in Alberta, to allow us to trade our goods with you and purchase some of Bretonia’s finest products to take back.

We understand your concerns of allowing a warship to enter your space. I give you my personal guarantee that this craft will pose no threat to your national security. I would expect that you would demand certain requirements of us. Our current proposed jump location would be here as this is significantly far from the planet to prevent disruption to the flow of Bretonia trade and goods and is also near to the Battleship Suffolk where the Carrier can be monitored. If you would prefer us to jump to a different location for whatever reason then that would be acceptable to.

We’ve just gotten the green light from Liberty in regards to permission for the Imzadi to enter Alberta as you can see here. We hope that our having passed their security checks will further set your mind at ease of our trustworthiness. Parts of our agreement with Liberty includes that the Imzadi will unarmed and that it will only have permission to Jump DSE) or Platinum Inc ships. We are also willing to carry out a number of other measures to satisfy your concerns. These are included to but not limited to:

-The carrier will not move from the location that it jumped to, it has no need to enter the Planets orbit and in terms of your security we expect that you’ll want it to stay where it is anyway.
-At your request should we be required to send advance warning of our arrival we will do so. And are happy for the Carrier to remain under Bretonian Authority escort throughout it’s duration within your space.
-If any sort of additional trade taxes are required then I’m sure our accountants will have no problems in sorting that out with your treasury.

If any of the above conditions you feel should be included in an agreement with us we’re happy to put those measures in place, along with anything else you deem necessary. Should we be granted access, I personally will be onboard the Imzadi and will reside in the command bridge along with Captain Troi to ensure that all terms of the agreement and Bretonian law are upheld.

I do hope that this can be the start of a new era of trade and commerce between our two houses. This will bring much prosperity to us both and I hope that you give this deep thought and get back to us, hopefully with good news.

Yours Faithfully
Oystein Baadsvik-Head of Security

To Oystein Baadsvik,

I apologise for the delay in hearing back from us, there was a paperwork 'pileup' of sorts. However, your request has been forwarded to the correct departments and you should be hearing back from the relevant officials soon.

Regards,
Susan Poole

To Bretonian Authorities

Firstly let me thank Ms Poole for the forwarding of the my last message to whoever our request should be processed by. I'm sending this transmission as wish to ask if there has been update with our request? Naturally I understand that matters such as these take time to discuss and put in place. Even more so when you are engaged in warfare and have urgent matters of national security to deal with daily.

As I'm sure your aware Platinum has a wide range of useful applications and is essential in many products found today. It's resistance to corrosion and tarnish gives it many industrial and cosmetic functions. I understand that it's use as an alloying agent, as well being used as a part of Thermocouples and medical equipment, makes it of particular value to your government during these times of war.

Platinum ore is only found in significant quantities in the Alberta and Nagano systems. As I'm sure your aware with Nagano being mined by Samura the only source readily available for Bretonia is currently from Alberta. Our company is responcible for the mining and handling of the majority of the Platinum which flows out of the system.

If you grant us our request this will naturally aid in Platinum shipments reaching your house and also give us the opportunity to purchase more Bretonian goods. This boost to inter-house trade will be of great benefit to us both so when you find the time if you could please contact me regarding the current status of our application.

My thanks and yours faithfully
Oystein Baadsvik-Head of Security

Mister Baadsvik,

As far as I know, you have yet to use the permission granted by Chief Commissioner Wright and Fleet Admiral Piett. Upon reading through the records, that seems to be the case because there was a problem with your payment.

I wish to inform you that we have set up a new Office of Jumpdrive and Hyperspace Scanning Registry and Reporting, which contains your newly granted permission. Your fee has been waived due to the extreme delays in dealing with your request. If you wish to alter the details of your permission, use the forms provided. There will be a small administration fee of 10 million credits to do this.

Good luck in your business in the immediate future.

Best regards,
Deputy Commissioner Magnus Page
