Childhood

Mike Jack Havering child of Felicia and Edward Havering second child of two was born in the year 792 in the District Hospital at 2:42PM on a Wednesday without much trouble.

They lived in a small apartment near the Bradford Spaceport on Planet Leeds, and thanks to the constant Police force that was patrolling around the Spaceport they didn’t have many burglaries in their neighborhood, but the prices were representing that.

Mikes parents always struggled with getting over the months and years with the high rent and all the other things that one required for a living.
Both of them were working for BMM in the Niobium Fields of Leeds at the time Mike was around 5 years old, but they moved to Dublin when the operators were looking for volunteers.

Pay was better but a much higher risk of getting pirated or even killed by the Mollies, the real drawback for Felicia and James was though that they didn’t manage to get back home as often anymore since Dublin was further away than where they used to work.

At the same time the Sirius Sector was going through a crisis of huge proportion, with Rheinland attacking all of the other Houses with no apparent reason. Bretonia itself managed to keep out of the Fighting for the most part.

Over the time while their parents were working in Dublin Richard took care of his younger brother and helped him with school when he was struggling. Eventually James and Felicia returned to working in Leeds after the raids of the Mollies got more brutal and frequent. Mike just finished primary school and wanted to join BMM like his brother did.

Good fortune helped Mike and Richard to get into the General School of BMM where they would learn the essentials for Mining and everything that came with that. The requirements that the School made so that children could join was that their Parents worked for BMM.

Working for Bretonia Mining and Manufacturing

Having spent 4 years in the BMM General School Mike and Richard successfully completed the final exams with little trouble since the school pretty much guided them through it.
Not waiting long both of them wanted to start to work as fast as possible.
After 6 months of waiting they got to know where they would be working in the foreseeable future.

Mike was greatly disappointed when he got the message over the Neutral net telling him where he was going to work from now on.
BMM would be sending him down to Cambridge where he would get some quarters on the Planet since BMM hasn’t been able to set up a localized Station near the Beryllium Fields, and start helping with the Mining of the Beryllium Ore.

Having little choice he packed his bags and was sent down to Cambridge, Richard on the other hand had more luck and could work with his Parents in Leeds, which made Mike somewhat jealous, but he said to himself that after some time he could ask for a transfer to Leeds and meet up with his Family again.

Mike wasn’t given a Ship to command right away since he still needed Basic Flight training which he would do after his Work shift had ended.
Until his supervisors thought he was good enough in the simulator Mikes work was in smashing the unrefined ore that was brought into the Hegemon for easier refining in the smelters.

After a few months of constant Simulator training Mike was given the degree, but he didn’t get the opportunity to sit behind a Hegemon just yet, each and every one of them were already in use.

On his Nineteenth Birthday about half a year after he started working in the Beryllium fields he requested a transfer up to Leeds.
The transfer was denied without much of an explanation just that they were expanding into the Tau region and that Transfers weren’t happening until they established themselves up there.

Mike shrugged it off and said himself that the Expansion into the Taus couldn’t go forever.

The Tau Expansion

With Profit in their eyes BMM made their way even further into the Tau Region up to Tau 23, with the newly built Jump gate from Tau 31 supplies and transportation wasn’t a big issue anymore.
While they were constructing an outpost for the storage of the Niobium Ore that was going to be mined in Tau 23 IMG started to oppose BMM in their Expansion and armed conflict wasn’t far away.

With BMM losing people in the Fields by the day they had to pull out their employees from other less profitable Fields in Bretonia itself.

And with Beryllium still not being as valuable like Gold or Niobium employees where pulled out there first and sent up into the Taus, Mike again one of the least experienced was sent up there so that if something would happen BMM wouldn’t have lost much.

Packing his stuff again knowing not to go would see him fired, Mike made his way up to Tau 23 with other mining Colleagues.
At first things didn’t seem that bad like Rumors told, it was new space where most of them haven’t been yet, which was exiting, at first.

But as time passed it became apparent why nobody wanted to be assigned to working in Tau 23, the constant skirmishes with IMG about the Mining Rights in the region didn’t abate but started to get bloodier by the day.
Safety was something unknown for employees on both Sides, even a full escort couldn’t guarantee that.

But it was all soon over after Kusari jumped into this war and started to take over the Tau region which in their eyes was their own property to begin with.

With the Armed Forces putting pressure on BMM to keep their Base in Tau 23 operational, Mike had to stay and keep working in the Fields extracting as much Niobium as possible until the very last moment.

Two years after Mike started working in Tau 23 Kusari and Bretonia were at war, the Battlefied being Tau 31 making it impossible for Mike or anybody else in Tau 23 to return to Bretonia safely.

As Mike turned 24 the War finally slowed down at Harris and the Battle line was drawn.
With knowing about where the Kusarian Fleet was about Mike, and others took the next best ship and tried their best to get back to Bretonia, with BMM not being able to bring the Mined ore to Bretonia there hadn’t been much to do except waiting for the next.

They arrived in Leeds unharmed, not having crossed path with any Kusari affiliated Ship on their way back home.
Richard and his Parents still working in the Niobium Fields were relieved to hear that he was alright and save again. BMM was thinking about firing Mike and all the other employees which abandoned their work in Tau 23.

Without the possibility to spend the monthly salary in Tau 23 while the War was going down he had saved up quite a few Credits over time.
Enough to rent his own apartment on New London and stay there for a few months until BMM had decided to fire him, or send him back to work.

A few months passed and 817 came around, Mike still waiting for BMM to give him a message on if he was fired or they still had use for him was doing small works for a grocery Store that was in the same district in which he had the Apartement. He helped with loading and unloading of the weekly deliveries and storing them in the right places.
Thanks to mining Mike was a rather sturdy fellow, so a very helpful addition for carrying things around and storing them.
Around that time Kusari made its big push into Leeds which the Bretonian Admiralty didn’t expect at that time and thus got pushed back till Planet Leeds.

Stokes fell and with that the Niobium Fields where Mikes Family was still working in. Being on a Hegemon Richard didn’t have a chance for a fast way out of the Fields, while their Parents where at home, off shift.

Richard got back to Planet Leeds relatively save in a few hours having ejected in an Escape Pod and then being taken up by a fellow Miner that was flying a lighter Craft.

Despise BMM losing many employees over the course of a few days they didn’t take Mike back, they fired him with all the others that had been stationed in Tau 23.

Having not that much trouble finding new work, Mike started anew with a subcontractor of BMM in the Niobium fields, this time he had to fly a smaller Mining craft called the Surveyor as a scout so that the ships could get in and out of the Field without the Kusarians cutting them down in the process.

Gallia a new threat emerges

As Kusari got replaced with Gallia Mike was in the fields watching how the last load got loaded and ready to move out.
Just as they were about to leave the Gauls had already pushed into Leeds thanks to the surprised Armed Forces that had to mount the counteroffensive first.

Mikes ship got shot down the second it was seen, same could be said for the Hedgemons that were target practice for them. Floating in Space Mike had to watch helplessly how his friends and colleagues got shot down in space not being able to do anything.

Having been rescued by the Police Force after the Armed Forces managed to push the spearhead of the Gallics back into the Taus Mike was left with no job again.
The owner of the Company having lost everything to that vicious assault in the fields had to declare bankruptcy.

With nothing left but his small Apartement Mike was somewhat aimless on what to do, seeing that BMM wouldn’t take him back and working on New London didn’t thrill Mike at all.

Whilst making his way back home from the landing pad where his Rescue pod got unloaded and emptied, he went by a Recruitment office of sorts.
Taking a closer look he noticed that it actually was one of the Armed Forces Recruitment offices that have been newly opened up around New London.
With what happened just a few hours before in the Niobium field Mike entered, hoping to get some payback from the Gauls in the form of old fashioned blood.
