In 817 AS, the first colonial citizens were evacuated from Tau-44. They were mostly workers and engineers that had the task to create a habitable environment on Planet Pecos. With the help of the IMG that had a small mining colony on the planet, the new inhabitants began underground excavations.

In two years they managed to build a working infrastructure and living space for over one million people. When the evacuation was complete, the place was crowded, chaos was dominating and the new leadership of the Colonial Republic was not able to organize its people. For months, the situation remained unchanged but several citizens managed to start their own business, taking advantage of the situation. Dodging taxes and acquiring old ships, without registering them to the authorities; it's safe to say that this company was built on fraud. A group established their headquarters in an old Atlas transport, orbiting Pecos. They named themselves Atlas and started trading. The newly developed Celestra transport proved to be ideal for their needs. Smaller, faster and with lower fuel consumption, the ship quickly became the most used vessel of this company.

Within the last months the newly appointed colonial leadership started to clean the mess in administration and public affairs so, life on the planet entered a new phase. Atlas representatives purchased more ships from the dying Integral System Engineering (ISE) and started registering its actives. The small budget of the company was hit by this so the administration council decided to start long range trade routes. The company managed to survive because of the very low transportation prices.

Unemployment on Pecos was high, the Colonial Republic was at war. Seeing that Atlas offered stability, many former CMI and ISE workers joined. Having access to cheap workforce allowed Atlas to maintain low prices for transportation jobs.

The need for a bigger and better trade center appeared and Atlas bought another small company that had its roots in the old ISE. The people working here were mostly space construction engineers and they had plans for several projects but no funding since the Colonial Republic was still disorganized. After this, Atlas changed the name to Atlas Trade & Construction and started building the Glacier Trade Center halfway between Pecos and Barrier Gate. The hope of the Atlas representatives is that this will be the most used station for the export of deuterium coming from the planet.

Another project is the developing of space infrastructure. Trade lanes technology is being researched and Atlas is expecting to connect the main objectives of Coronado in two years. Planet Pecos - Glacier Trade Center is to be open for public this year as Atlas reps declared.

Unlike the old colonial companies that were under indirect control of the military, Atlas is and will remain independent, following the principles of democracy and freedom of trade. Any attempts from the military to gain control will be denied. More than that, Atlas will try to prevent a new military dictatorship and it's a sponsor of the presidency and free elections.
