I want the model to stay as is and there to be a stat nerf to cement the colony ship factor and to balance the ship and make it weaker than the battleships of the surrounding factions. The new neph looks like it belongs in a low budget star trek episode. EDIT: My only beef is not with just the model. I like the neph the way it is if properly RP'd. i.e. never engaging unless all other motives have failed. I'm just offering up a stat nerf as an acceptable compromise in my mind. Growth raid does not solely ake birth rates into account. Under Cardamine influence, Outcasts have an increased life expectancy compared to 'normal' humans. [Source: Official Discovery Nomad Lore v1.31 PDF, p. 50, l. 3] While the birth-rate is indeed lower ("The effects of this processed Cardamine are increased lifespan, greater strength and additional sensory enhancements than normal humans, at the cost of permanent DNA changes that result in lifelong addiction to Cardamine and significantly reduced reproduction." ll. 3ff.), this extended life-expectancy can also play a role in balancing the low reproduction out. -> More time to live -> More time to reproduce Though this effect might be subject to diminishing as the generations progress. Might diminish. Not will diminish. I'm saying the way I RP'd my Neph was as a colony ship with guns on it. A ship that travels into deep space, likely solo, needs to be able to defend itself. That defense is a last resort when all other diplomacy attempts have failed. Now what I will have, is this spiky looking transport that I am supposed to take a whole colony on, families, shipmates, the whole 9 yard. That will die if a single bomber so much as looks at it the wrong way. And the massive resource investment that goes into building a ship so large, is blown up by a single Roc. RE: Gytrash's rant. - Thexare - 02-28-2014 I don't think you actually read Echo's post, Gytrash, so I'm going to reproduce it here. Have you ever fought a liner in a bomber alone? Shit's tough, liners aren't the same as a Stork EDIT: I also want to point out that Liners are specifically designed to house and defend people. You aren't stuffing families into cargo pods RE: Gytrash's rant. - .Gypsy. - 02-28-2014 (02-28-2014, 06:56 AM)Saronsen Wrote: It's getting the armor of a cruiser, a gunboat shield, like 14 turrets (at least 2 are gunboat turrets, maybe all are), a heavy gunboat core, and 4600 or 5000 cargo. Seriously? Where was this posted? That's almost too good to be true. If it is, I bet it gets nerfed a few updates latter when there's a thousand of them in space. No way they will allow something that OP to stay for long. I can't say I've heard of a Liner going into deep space and looking for a new home. Liners to me have been about taking people from one established planet to another along established trade corridors with Naval patrols in the area for safety. None of that exists for Zoners, nor should it. |
