Like I always say... laws are made for the lawfuls, criminals dont care if there's laws or not, that's why they're criminals.
Well then, let's get the lawfuls to do something about this.

I'm confused as to how you managed to track down a DDoSer purely from... thin air? Any IP you're getting -should- be spoofed, and there shouldn't be correlation in the backscatter sent off the disco server--if they know what they're doing.

That's why you look like such a bad ass right now? Appear as you want to eh?

I'm just trying to stop this guy from destroying more than what he already has is all. No, I don't have access to his router. No I don't have the software I have from work, you are correct. Because I don't want to end up in federal prison (even though it's already 45 minutes from home, but I digress)

I'm doing this the hard way, and it isn't easy. I've gotten information from a few people about him, where he's been, what he's done to other sites and I'm picking up the pieces from those sites and those people to put together a big picture, it's just taking some time is all.

If the person doing the DDoSing knows how to... DDoS then the only way to find them would be to somehow figure out what one of the compromised computers in the botnet's IP was, break into that computer, figure out how it's being handled and then follow that back to a handler computer (which could be the DDoSer themself, if they're a moron). That assumes nothing is spoofed, the odds of which are like... nonexistent.

EDIT: I don't like to be a naysayer, but false hopes are just as bad.
