I'm going to treat it as a serious suggestion. It's a bad idea because new players often use the jumpgates to start out in Colorado and NY. Unless there's a way to target individual guard Jumpgates with FLHook, this is an idea that should not have any consideration. are you kiddin me? - Lohingren - 10-06-2008 what i would like to know though, doesnt allowing the destruction of under leveled players in guard systems, kind of promote pvp whoring, and over all just spoiling peoples fun? and im pretty damn sure it also promotes the fact that factions have alot more rights than independants which im sure most of us came to the conclusion both should be treated equally. now all i see here is a large cruiser attacking a camera ship, wether or not he was supposed to be there is a different matter, but his is a player flying a ship thats invincible to lvl 10 VHF's nevermind a lvl 26 camera ship. In my honest opinion that rule needs to be banished, no player should have the right to attack a under leveled player ANYWHERE guard system or not, why? cause there is absolutely no reason to thats why, there is absolutely no way a lvl 26-29 player could take on even the worse of piloted fighters nevermind a cruiser. and what i heard from tenactiy "He had no intention of becoming better with the order" ok so hes a lvl 26 camera ship.... order is a VERY hard tag to get, and pretty hard to get the guard tag.... now can anyone tell me how a virtually defenseless lvl 26 ship that has "no intention of becoming good with the order" is flying around in their guard system without being shot at?? im assuming he isnt getting shot at, because i know for a certain my train with armour has been hurt in there when i used to run through it to wind up the Bs| nevermind something that could most likely be one shotted by a fighter. poor sportsmanship tenacity, bad, very bad role modelling and most of all i find this whole shinanigan to have brought up alot of nasty ways for people to pvp whore people. are you kiddin me? - pchwang - 10-06-2008 Lohingren is right, guys. Yes the player was slightly out of line, but the thing is, you can't force someone who doesn't have the capability to RP with you to RP with you. What I mean by that is... The person was in a camera ship and on level 26. They were defenseless. Since PvP is actually a huge part of the RP on this server, because of the fact that they could barely engage in a form of RP on the server, you can't really force them to RP with you. There will be certain players ingame who are underlevel, but choose to RP with you and enter the RPing community by buying an ID other than the Civvie ID, and using it ingame. Now, Tenacity isn't absolutely wrong either. I remember a time when traders used to use O-52 as a shortcut, since it's a Zoner guard base, at the moment, and if you were green with the Zoners, you could pass through. Little do people know, it's actually the SCRA guard system. If you entered, we'd warn you, and if you didn't leave, we'd blow the hell out of you. This was a slightly similar situation to Tenacity's only the traders were over level 40, and certainly knew what they were doing. So, here is my final resolution. May your best judgment guide your decision. If the player is obviously confused as to what is happening, be a friend. Help him out, instead of acting cold and pompous, and threatening to blow him up. If the player is exploiting you and obviously knows right from wrong, blow the **** out of them. It's your guard system, and you have free reign over it. are you kiddin me? - Fellow Hoodlum - 10-06-2008 And if we as admins, find anyone deliberately using their underlevel status to disrupt the game play,as happened in New York last night, we may have to blow them up as well ... A slightly different matter, as the player in question claimed 'veteran' knowledge, and obviously knew damn well better. If it's found to be very deliberate disruption, it will be sanctioned accordingly. Hoodlum are you kiddin me? - Primus Avatar - 10-06-2008 ok...attack of the starfleas was surely intentional. But a lone noob exploring disco?...calm down.... Balthazzar, till you are in possession of at least some of the facts please refrain from posting. This has nothing to do with 'Attack of the Starfleas' ... Though if the cap fits, you can wear it. Quote:now can anyone tell me how a virtually defenseless lvl 26 ship that has "no intention of becoming good with the order" is flying around in their guard system without being shot at?? The Guard NPC's were shooting at him, but I wasnt aware until he had almost escaped us that he was even in a camera ship, I figured it was a starflea or some other small ship before that. Like I said, all I fired was a cruise disruptor so that the guard npc's would take care of him. Quote:poor sportsmanship tenacity, bad, very bad role modelling and most of all i find this whole shinanigan to have brought up alot of nasty ways for people to pvp whore people. If they want to avoid pvp whoring, they can stay out of guard systems, simple as that. There are countless other ways to get to omicron alpha (which was his destination) - including through the tau's and sigmas. Instead of taking the safer route, he chose to try and shortcut through a guard system, and had he not been flying a ship that can thrust at 320m/s he would have paid for that choice. are you kiddin me? - stewcool - 10-06-2008 I dont know if this was stated but! How bout we just drop a new Osiris in front of the Jump holes. Evora is getting the supplies faster than usual as well as the whole fleet is expanding. I say the next update should give the Order more Osiris ships as weapon platforms for our ships. are you kiddin me? - Coin - 10-06-2008 @ everyone After reading all 17 pages of this trial by forum: Fact: the under 30 rule does not apply in a guard system -it might not be morally/RP defensible to fire on a low lvl player, but no rule is broken Fact: the existence and advantages of a camera ship generally are outside the knowledge base of a new player - i have been playing on disco for over six months, and i STILL don't know where to get one - and the fact that it has no guns is a major detractor from the fact it thrusts like a cruise engine Fact: engaging cruise is fleeing, and the player has to leave system for 4 hours, or until the other player leaves the system - the fact that the lvl 26 left the system means that the 4-hour rule doesn't apply Fact: firing on a player is engaging, leaving the system is fleeing - the lvl 26 player should consider that system as out-of-bounds for 4 hours (Did he re-enter system?) Fact: interpreting the rules, rules lawyering etc are sanctionable actions, as is OOC messaging - when the lvl 26 pm'd him "lulw00t u have to leave your guard system u nuuuuub" (i'm paraphrasing here) this was the only sanctionable action. Conclusions: It was Tenacity's guard system, and the lvl 26 was in the wrong for OOC messaging. Tenacity did not have to leave the system as the lvl26 had already left. Judgment: This trial by forums finds in favour of Tenacity, send the lvl 26 to bastile for the day @ Tenacity - you had fired on him, he had escaped the trap of death-by-npc that you set for him, he sends you a 'lolwut' message - have you considered that he was joking? @Admins - please, for the love of freelancers everywhere, please lock this thread. Seventeen pages is just too long. are you kiddin me? - ryoken - 10-06-2008 ' Wrote:@ everyone I have to agree with all but 1 thing you said here. Conclusions: It was Tenacity's guard system, and the lvl 26 was in the wrong for OOC messaging. Tenacity did not have to leave the system as the lvl26 had already left. Um sorry this is "NOT" Tenacity's Guard system, No matter how much he think's it is. It "IS" Bs Guard system. Do not grant him any more power. The little he has is already gone to his head. Other then that i agree. END THIS THREAD. are you kiddin me? - Lux - 10-06-2008 It isn't Tenacity's guard system for sure... but since he is a part of the faction that owns it, he should be allowed to protect it. I don't think this was a very new player, otherwise he wouldn't be flying a camera ship for one, and secondly, he wouldn't be so brash as to rule lawyer... or so I hope. However, I do agree that this thread is getting out of hand and is starting to seriously annoy me; for my mental sanity, please lock it. |
