So I'm hanging out in omicro 100 with a couple other guys today, I was tabbed to the forums to read posts. I switch back in, and see a white, no-tagged level 26 trying to fly through the system.

Now, I was under the impression that in guard systems, standard rules dont really apply - but nevertheless, I made sure not to fire a single shot from my weapons. I fired a cruise disruptor so that the NPC's would take care of him - he was small, I was at a distance, and I couldnt really see his ship, so I figured he was in a starflier.

At first I thought the cruise disruptors had missed, and he flew past me towards the omicron major jump hole. So, I engaged cruise and chased after him - he was an intruder in a guard system and one of those oorp noobs trying to use it as a shortcut to outcast space.

After he jumps to omicron major and gets away from us (due to his level, we werent going to pursue him outside of 100 - the guards cant kill him there, and we arent allowed to either) - he sends me a private message back telling me that because I engaged cruise to chase after him, I had to leave the system for 4 hours...

wtf? Is this guy nuts?

It turns out he was flying a camera ship and was using thrusters, which is why my disruptor didnt work. Now, seriously, this guy is intruding into a guard system, he doesnt say a word the entire time, and then he tries rule lawyering at me because I used cruise to try and stay on a ship that can maintain cruise speeds on thrusters?

I cant possibly fathom how he was in the right here, but I want some opinions on it anyways. We gave him warnings when we saw him at max range on scanners, he didnt respond. We told him to leave the system back the way he came, he didnt respond. None of us fired a shot other than a few cruise disruptors, and then he tries to threaten me with sanctions because I cruised to keep up with him while he ran for the jump hole... ridiculous imo -_-

As I understand it the only PVP rule that applies in a Guard system is the level rules. I might be wrong though.

er yeah... hate to say it Tenacity but you're rules lawyering as badly as this guy did....

Why on earth would you waste your time on a Level 26?? it may be just me, but i dont see a player until they are close to level 40 unless they make themselves known by talking to me first.

In-RP, we dont let anyone but order in omicron 100 - I was acting in character.

I wouldnt have killed him myself, but firing a cruise disruptor doesnt count as underlevel killing when the guard npc's deal with him.

He could have just as easily gone through kusari or tau space to get to omicron alpha, there was no excuse for him being in a guard system.

how's that? I wasnt the one that started crying in PM's about the other guy not leaving his own guard system.

I was under the impression that the Camera ship is pretty much ooRP in itself and shouldn't be used unless it's employed to do what it was designed to, making footage. Bah, the whole situation is mind boggling. I'll go to sleep.

That may be, but he should have at least said something in systems chat or private asking for passage, and identifying himself as a camera ship.

I'm still convinced that I handled the situation in-character and was not breaking any server rules, i'm just annoyed that this guy came back in Private chat and tried to force me to leave the system for engaging cruise to chase after him, when he had already left the system himself to begin with.

Tenacity ... at what level are you capable of having an Order IFF? What level do you have to be to be on good enough terms to purchase the Order ID? I don't think a level 28 will quite have the rep to purchase the ID ... much less obtain the IFF. So if you see someone that low on the level chain ... maybe he's working on building an Order rep. Just a thought.

Nobody flies through O-100 hostile to guard NPC's in a starflier or camera ship when they're trying to build order rep.
