The less 'freelancerish' ships out there that have been made for the mod itself are actually for factions that have no, or little, basis in Vanilla FL and so have no past design influences.

For instance, the Coalition.
They had no typical design influence before they were created..since they didn't exist.

The Mollys have flown the 'pirate' line of ships for almost a century now and they are fine shipwrights in their own right.

If you are working with a Vanilla faction or a faction based on something in Disco, you'll need to look at their typical design type first. Expansion of it is what works for them.

This shouldn't die, it's an awesome model. Take a look at several factions and tweak the shape of the model somewhat. The Manta could use it's own model instead of the Hammerhead's. I could see adding sharper edges to those wings and giving it to the BHG.
