Mercenary - RP rules. - mwerte - 06-10-2008 and even if your missions are "just business" to you, the people who you take the missions against will remember you. and they will hold a grudge. Mercenary - RP rules. - Linkus - 06-10-2008 Regarding factions using enemy weaponry, who made the Nomad cannons etc? Mercenary - RP rules. - mrlance - 06-10-2008 Everything is acceptable as long as it comes from a maturing process in game. I can see you adjusted your reputation with the RP of your character in mind. Now the last step is to interact with the others PC (player characters). When you become sick to be looked as an ennemy for a single strange turret , you will resume your maturing process, interact, and change, again and again. The ship and loadout reflect your situation. So, if i try to read your process : * You worked for the BHG and earn enough respect to own a Orca * You worked for Liberty and get the liberty turret and the cerberus. * You traveled to Omicron Minor and met the Order * you conviced them that you are no longer working for the BHG and want to embrace their goal in exchange of their engineer support to mount Order turrets on your Orca. = Now, you are a merc working on the Order side. the BHG and Liberty might consider you as a "terrorist". You still have a liberty turret and an Orca because it is the ship that you were flying at your first contact with the Order. (for RP matter, i consider that restriced Order weapons can only be purchased and mounted by a Order engineer in Toledo or on the Isis) After that, your ship and loadout is perfectly acceptable, you just have to accept the consequences of what you are flying. The "respect" will not come from what you fly but for what you do the whole time you are flying your ship. Trust is hard to earn but easy to loose. BUT still they wont accept me.... for instance: ORDER GUYS: "Leave this sector, youre an enemy tagged player. (it seems i have still to high BH rep) "What do you think youre doing flying a BH labeled ship in Order space?? Get out!!" Other "good" Houses: "//OORP.... change your guns or ill report you to the admins." -Why? "//Solarius guns are made by order and corsairs, you cant have them mounted on BH ships" -I thought they were generic....like that basic stuff....so everyone can use it? "//No...they are Order guns, order are enemy to BH." of course i tried to explain many times....NO ONE WOULD LISTEN TO MY RP.... they don't care....hypocrites they just keep repeating the same.... you cant do this you cant do that... PLEASE!!! I NEED HELP FROM A PROFESSIONAL HERE!!! What the hell am i doing wrong? later i was told i need all neutral stuff to be neutral.... but not even neutral stuff is neutral to some people who are doing their best to ruin all my fun... Is IMG Gunboat neutral? If so, where can i find it? Are Solaris guns neutral? If so ill kick that Rheinlanders *ss and a side question: is it just me, or are missile turrets bugged? Mercenary - RP rules. - Tenacity - 06-10-2008 I dont know if it was one of the players posting here, but just today I was patrolling omicron minor and saw a player in a bounty hunter orca gunboat, with a bounty hunter tag (but mercenary ID) undocking from toledo. Not a good thing to get caught doing. Frankly, I dont care if your ID claims you're nuetral - in this situation the target, regardless of ID, was -clearly- allied with an opposing faction. You cant just 'work for everyone'. Every character will have his or her enemies, even mercs (especially mercs! nobody likes mercs). If I see that you're using a ship and IFF tag from an opposing faction, that means you're on good terms with that faction (they trust you enough to sell you one of their ships), and that makes you a hostile target regardless of your ID. If you want to call me "OORP!" for attacking or being hostile/aggressive towards someone in that kind of situation, go ahead - the fact still stands that, as far as my character is concerned, you're working for the enemy. Now, in this situation I did not open fire but made it very clear, in a very hostile tone, in system chat that he was not welcome in omicron minor using that IFF and ship. In the end I helped him get an IMG gunship and told him how to change his faction tag or drop it entirely so that he could play a more 'nuetral' merc - but he's still going to have enemies, just like everyone else. If you show up in order space in a bounty hunter ship or with a bounty hunter tag, expect to get shot. Even if you're trying to play the "I've got a nuetral ID!!!" game, you're going to get shot. You've got two or more signs telling other players that you're working for a specific faction whether or not your ID is of similar description. EDIT: It's actually the guy who posted right before me that this encounter happend with =P and to respond to him: That is -not- how the conversation went. I've got screenshots if I need to show them. Mercenary - RP rules. - Flo - 06-10-2008 Just don't listen to all those self claimed server lawyers. Explain your reasons - and if they still insist in their "wrong" point of view just do your business and let them talk to your hand:) Solaris turrets are fine. It is stated in their description that they are being sold everywhere; so why not buy them? A mercenaries life ain't easy, especially if you are flying a gunboat/gunship. Just play the game and enjoy yourself. You will eventually get used to all those complains and be able to "ignore" them. As a side answer: They are kinda bugged. If they don't track the target just un-select and select it again. They should work after that. EDIT: All that may sound if I would encourage you to break some rules and don't listen to others at all. That was not my intent! Just use common sense and you should be fine most of the time. About the incident at Toledo: Tenacity is right on this one - common sense;) EDIT 2: Actually it is even harder to RP a lone-wolf-mercenary than being in a mercenary group. You will never be able to gain Sirius wide reputation - to make everyone know who you're working for and what your intentions are. As a faction it is a lot easier because there are many ships that represent the guidelines and diplomatics of that faction. Mercenary - RP rules. - Xydonus - 06-10-2008 ' Wrote:Just don't listen to all those self claimed server lawyers. Agreed. And I've been at Omicron Minor a FEW TIMES.. first time I was asked to undock, in which I was asked to explain myself, and I did, and they left me alone... Funny enough, a guy from a corsair faction was also curious. Then another time I was chased out of Omicron Minor by an Order pilot, possibly Tenacity there, ha! For me, it depends who you know and how you talk to them. I was able to smooth talk my way out of it the first time round. Thats what my character is and does. Some people hold onto their roleplay rules like its their bible, and perhaps they are right to do that. But the conversations you descriped there, about being reported to an admin, its not exactly setting a good example for Discovery server, is it? To many arguements by those who wield their pitchforks will undoubtly lead to Discoverys demise if people keep on abusing those who certainly do seem to try and fit in. Clearly you sold your faction turrets as you said, its odvious to me that your trying yet people give you a hard time. Ignore them. Play the game, let them rant on, if must, be silent at times. Be sure to keep in character though and do stick with whatever story you have penned for your character. Discover is one of those servers where the littlest things can annoy a hardcore RvP, just have to live with it and put up with those who protest. Just be prepared to be tackled going into Omicron Minor. Regardless of what someone will say about my status as a merc in an Orca, I'm still going to go in, why? Because I can, and I will. Sometimes i'll get hassled, sometimes a certain somebody who I have influence with, will let me go through. Sometimes i'll get demands to leave their space, and I reply in-character with a in-character response. Far as i'm concerned, let them take thier screenshots! ha. Mercenary - RP rules. - Tenacity - 06-10-2008 Quote:Some people hold onto their roleplay rules like its their bible It isnt the rules, it's the roleplay. The order is naturally suspicious of EVERYONE. They're hunted or considered terrorists by most factions across sirius, the bounty hunters constantly pound Omicron minor with swarms of fighters and destroyers (Npc or otherwise), we've got liberty peeking their head in every day either trying to start trouble or provoke us, and on top of that - by rp - everyone that isnt an order agent could be infested (hell, even order agents could be) by nomads. Taking a weary/aggressive approach towards someone who isnt an immediate ally is normal for the order - and if you come in dressed up like one of our enemies, whether you are one or not, we're very likely to terminate you right then and there. EDIT: oh and about that 'reporting to an admin' thing... I only report players if it's a serious server rules infraction; I.e. docking on a clearly hostile base, using mods/cheats, swearing extensively, or going on OORP rants in system chat. It's more of a hassle for me to report things like this than it is to just chase them out of the system or blow them up if they refuse to leave. EDIT #2: And one more thing - dont expect everyone you meat in-game to have read everything you've posted on the forums. I 'troll' these forums probably more than most players here - I spend more time here than I do in the game - and I still havent read everyone's story or know everyone's character backgrounds. Everyone I meet is treated with what I deem to be 'standard protocol' (on my order character, anyways). If you're not a corsair, zoner, or order pilot - I'll ask you what your business is in order space, and if you dont give a good reason you'll be asked to leave the system. If you refuse to leave the system, you will be shot at and terminated, whether you claim to be a nuetral or an ally. As an example - if I see hogosha in omicron minor, they better start explaining themselves. I honestly dont care if they're associated/allied to the order indirectly through the corsairs, they have no business in omicron minor or omicron 100. Hogosha in those systems are -way- out of their zone of influence, and unless you're there on diplomatic terms or to procure equipment, you'll be chased out of the system. Another example - if I see a liberty/bounty hunter player in either of those systems, I probably wont even bother chatting, it's straight to the attack once i've scanned your ID. There are situations that warrant otherwise however - like the two liberty gunboats in omicron minor today who helped us take out some keepers that had invaded the system; but both of them were ordered to leave the system after the keepers had been dispatched, and I would have had no problem opening fire on them if they had refused. And another - if you're a smuggler trying to use omicron minor / omicron 100 as a 'shortcut' between liberty and omicron alpha or any other systems, and I seee contraband in your hold, you can consider yourself dead. I wont ask for 'tax', I wont warn you and shoo you out of the system, I'll destroy your vessel with extreme prejudice and probably blast your escape pod as well. Smugglers are not at all welcome in order space, and we've had far too many of them trying to get through 100 lately. Mercenary - RP rules. - Xydonus - 06-10-2008 ' Wrote:It isnt the rules, it's the roleplay. Yeah, I agree with you there. I've gone in many a-time, and I'll go in again, and I'm ready for what I might face. I very much believe, as I was saying earlier on, that rarely can a merc accomplish pleasing all factions and remaining neatrual, ha, impossible really. You can get away with it with some factions, not all. Although that incident, you said today? Can't be me so, Barrick Mane is my merc, and I was chased out of Omicron Minor only once, which was two days ago I think. So if you go anywhere, at all, be prepared to face the consquences, and have your story ready, like me, in which you may be able to smooth talk your way out of a sticky situation, while maintaining your roleplay. Again, its who you meet, how they see you and how they'l react to you. Certain people will react differently depending how they see you, depending on your story and sometimes if its clear, without a doubt that your a hostile force, they'l just open fire, and theres not much you can do about that. Mercenary - RP rules. - Primus Avatar - 06-10-2008 thanks guys, at least a i feel a lot better now:yahoo: And Tenacity Quote:and to respond to him: That is -not- how the conversation went. I've got screenshots if I need to show them.im, not that kind of guy to blame specific persons for specific incidents. You gave me enough reason to respect you as a player but i don't like the way your character talks. Very unfriendly. And if it will make you feel better you can post those screenshots, i got nothing to hide since i just shortened your response but didnt change the main arguments you stated. Also i left out the parts where i panic....not cool:$ |
