My Mercenary character flies an Orca Gunboat sold by a grope of merchants that do business on the Sheffield Station. It has 2 Cerberus gunboat turrets, 4 Order gunboat turrets an one liberty gunboat turret.
I had been told that BH are enemies of the Order. But my character isnt an Bounty hunter, he is simply a mercenary that has been hired to do some dirty work in exchange for money....and respect. He had been allowed to purchase one of the best GB around to make fighter-hunting easier. As realistic and money-driven the mercenaries usually are, my character had began to grow in power, he had been hired by all factions since he holds no grudge against any (not even pirates). Its all just business.
He went from base to base, bribing the local diplomats and hackers to gain honorable-and-infamous reputations. Got "good" with all mayor houses and used their combined technology to make fighting in different situations and against a variety of opponents much easier.
ok... i hope there are no unlogical reasons why such an RP cant be accepted. I beg you for your feedback, I dont want to have problems since im trying my best to become more accepted in the community
While your character isn't a Bounty Hunter, he's in a Bounty Hunter ship, that's where the issue with mixing Order guns and BH ships comes from. Likewise, Order/Liberty shouldn't be mixing either.
As sensible as it may seem to you, you may be better off just sticking with one or two allied factions' equipment just to avoid arguments.
I have been using a BHGunship for quite a while now, and at one point I had 1 Cerberus Turret and 5 Order turrets mounted. While the admins said this was fine as a Freelancer, I changed my Order turrets to Solaris turrets after getting pissed off by everyone I face in combat complaining. I also removed it because I was tired of random comments... "Another Bounty Hunter ship with Order weaponry?"
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs
so you say a ship has feelings... he wants to be of one nationality... great.... to me its just a flying armored car and i put on all kinds of gadgets from opposing factions couse i dont rely care if they dont like each other....they like me and thats important....:rtfm:
:sleep:but if you say so....
so i should just drop the liberty gun yeah?....i don't rely like it either but i put it on purpose to put a symbol of multi-nationality, a sight to be respected.... but yeah...i don't want people that don't have the will to understand these symbols so ruin my in-game.
An unfortuante predicament considering how much trouble you've gone to.
Much depends on how much explaining you want to do in-game and how prepared you are to explain yourself after EVERY snide remark made by every passing player.... BUT generally speaking, BH ship would suggest some kind of lawful affiliation at the very least; Order turrets will be frowned upon or worse by lawful factions in Liberty and to a lesser extent elsewhere as they are allied to the corsairs. Guilt by association. Plus when you go work for the other side, they'll regard the ship suspiciously.
My advice - load that darling up with a combination of cerberus and solaris - regarded as universal turrets, if Im not mistaken. They're more effective anyway. Ill even sell you some if you want so long as you dont have a criminal record.
If you get friendly enough with the bounty hunters to get one of their ships, you are -not- going to convince the order to sell you their weapons, the two are very hostile to one another.
One of my characters is a mercenary who flys a BHG. Its fitted out with nomad turrets, two order missile turrets and one liberty forward gun turret, which I may be changing at some point. Considering that this is a roleplaying server, with many who closely guard their server by pointing out these things that annoy them to players, is quite natural. What many seem to do wrong at times, is get aggressive, start flaming the player and taking it from it being a game to alot more. If you get any of those, best ignore them, but don't ignore the roleplaying element nor ignore those who point it out to you.
I'v never once got any bother, except one occasion in which I was asked to explain the Order Missile turrets, and they happily accepted my story for it. Worst thing you can do is jump into a ship like that or anything higher and not have a good sound roleplaying story to back up the reasons why your in the ship, and its equipment. Good way to do this is write your story on the forum in character bio's, that way you may not always have to explain your story. My own merc's story is currently being penned, in the mean time I answer my reasons in short bursts.
As far as being a Merc, it is really very hard to please both factions, lawful and unlawful. Best merc is one who has chosen his side, and who is going to work for that side, regardless of how much some pirate or lawful offers him. Then again, Merc's are a untrusty lot, and they may do work for another faction on the side, but probably not often. I tend to do that and keep it "Hush Hush" with lawful/unlawful players. Far as I'm concerned, I have chosen a side but I also have limits in which might get me to do an odd job for the other faction. This is also partly related to why I got a BHG with a mix of racial turrets.
There is such a thing called roleplay leniency to such a degree that if you play within the roleplay element, respect the history that factions have, you should be able to get away with some realistic roleplay. Its a universe with all sorts of possibilities, and thus, should allow players flexibility with their characters, load-outs and ship choice as long as its not gone to the EXTREME. Like a Molly flying a corsair ship or with corsair turrets, no no... Molly flying a bretonia ship? Why not, considering that they are now at peace, not altogether friendly, but peace still the same.
So far as i'm concerned, you should be allowed to equip your ship whatever way you want, according to your OWN relations, but be sure to have some form of background story to boot for extra measure. In-game relations should play a part, I wouldn't get order turrets if they hated my guts, for that, I'd have to say I stole them or something. But they don't hate my guts, they don't like me, but they still are willing to sell me turrets for some business in exchange....
