On Xenos - Magoo! - 06-11-2008 TURBO POSTING! Yeah, I guess you're right Eppy. And the torp is suicide. But seeing as how the Xenos are so poor, I was really wondering why they'd mount a gun that is worth 4 standard Eagles on a ship like that. That's just not cost effective. You can easily swarm and opponent, and if you get killed, you've got three more to keep going. A Preagle dies and you just like about 12 mill of Xeno equipment. Anywho, gonna see where this ends in the morn. G'night, kids. -Edit- I still love you, Ivan.:P -Double Edit- Thought I might add that I don't mean "kids" condescendingly. That's um... That's just the way I talk. I'm weird like that. On Xenos - Eppy - 06-11-2008 Actually, I think there's 30-40 active Xenos...it's gotten pretty popular lately. All the same, that doesn't change the fact that they can use 'em all they want. On Xenos - Muleo - 06-11-2008 The question of 'how do xenos afford a supernova' is nowhere near as interesting as the question 'how does liberty replace their loss of capital ships that fracking quickly?' The xenos using supernovas and taiidans should be the least of anyone's concerns regarding liberty. You're picking on an already underpowered faction, the xenos are one of the best RPed factions so far, so lay off of em. Edit: Just realised Ivan already covered what I said here >.> On Xenos - Reverend Del - 06-11-2008 As the resident higher up in the XA online at the moment let me take a few moments to address these concerns in a sensible fashion. 1) Supernova antimatter cannon. Yes we use it, yes frankly it's becasue if we don't then every Xeno encounter turns into a slaughter. Yay for the fun of that one. At least with an SN attached to our bombers, the majority of which are Preagles not Taiidans (in the XA at least) we can make a good account of ourselves and prevent the dockraping of Xeno pilots undocking from Ouray. 2) Taiidan Bomber, firstly this is listed as a civilian ship in the readme, thusly when the Admins were asked way before the XA came into being, and the admins were asked I can assure you, the answer was a resounding yes. But frankly before we look at the Taiidan we should look at every other ship we are allowed to use. Well we start off with a starflier so that's no problem, but the Tracker and Blazer are sold on bases emminently hostile to the Xenos, so they're out. The Hawk is sold on Honshu, hostile and out of our ZOI by quite some distance, the Griffin equally so, the Falcon is way out of our reach, the Eagle is on the other side of the sector, so is the Crow. The civilian bomber again out of our ZOI, so we should be limited to starfliers then to be totally within RP... Also within the XA there are three Taiidan bombers, in comparison to our roster which requires all folks out of boot camp to have a bomber ready for use, they belong to the Squadron Leader, Dusty Lens, and to both the XA Wing Leaders, Zavier and myself. However I cannot speak for the independents as we have little to no control over them. The Xenos RP has improved immensely since the XA came into being, largely because we try to lead by example. We take indies with us to interdict, to give the navy a bloody nose, to raid Pueblo and Detroit. Why just the other day a raidning party went along to Detroit to pick us up some supplies, yammering in system all the way, not a peep from other folks. Ignored the Xeno horde come to rob a munitions depot. Let's look at that before we complain about the kit the Xenos use. Edit: Again wrong numbers. 5 taiidans and the ranks should include Royal On Xenos - Tenacity - 06-11-2008 To be fair to the xenos here, even though i hate non-orderberty pilots using supernovas, it would cost a pilot more in the long run for a nova torpedo launcher (constant ammunition costs) than for a supernova. EDIT: They should be using preagles over taiidan bombers though. On Xenos - Reverend Del - 06-11-2008 ' Wrote:To be fair to the xenos here, even though i hate non-orderberty pilots using supernovas, it would cost a pilot more in the long run for a nova torpedo launcher (constant ammunition costs) than for a supernova. And the XA does. 19 members in the skype chat alone three of whom have taiidans, it's a prviledge of rank and seeing as the top three guys ain't going anyhere soon, it's not a privilege anyone else is going to get in a hurry. Generally if the XA goes out, the boots fly out. I have flown my Taiidan once in combat. That was the day it was bought. Generally I fly my Eagle and let better bomber pilots make use of what they have. But still 16:3 that's a hell of a ratio. Edit: seems I got my numbers wrong, thaat's what i get for being out of the loop for over a month. 14:5 nearly 3:1. and that's even presuming that all five get flown at once. On Xenos - sn!p3r - 06-11-2008 Guess every factions gets picked on eventually, First of all.. just leave the xenos be, i have yet to see a xeno going ooc, or showing a form of pvp whoring. Second, Balance would be the reason why they use the taiidan, or the supernova. Please try to fight a battlecruiser with a starflier. Not gonna happen. Have you seen people using these ships go ooc at any time? I know i haven't, the xenos are one of the best roleplayed factions here, give them a break /rant On Xenos - Dusty Lens - 06-11-2008 Civilian Bomber 4/1 115 21400 100 6,210,000 Civilian Bomber with two torpedo hardpoints Taiidan Bomber 4/0 95 20400 100 6,370,000 Civilian Bomber with two torpedo hardpoints Re:Xeno id and bombers., Jan 23 2008, 02:38 PM QUOTE Howdy Hoodlum, So, there I was, minding my own business when a pal asked if I wanted to fire up a Xeno character for good times. Not having any pew pew experience and enjoying the prospect of tacking that bit of RP I went for it. No, rather than going and picking up an Eagle, I stated that our outfit might not be bad off with a bomber, on account of the fact that sometimes it's nice to be able to bomb things. But, before I wreck too much damage with the 'ol Civvie bomber, is that shipclass outside of the weight restrictions of the Xeno id? Thanks in advance. -DL Dusty, Seems to about one of the only choices you have, that and the Taiidan, both being sold by the Zoners on Freeport 11. About the only place you can land out there. So pays yer dosh, takes yer keys mate ... Hood --- Supernova Antimatter cannon is a generic bomber weapon available to everyone. We're currently developing the RP that backs our claim to this piece of Order technology. Perhaps when we're done we'll question how you secured your own. --- The Taiidan bomber is available to all and sundry as a Civilian class bomber, I did not assume this, I was told this when I made a basic inquiry as to the ships available to Xenos. Within the XA the only ranks able to fly them are the Squadron Commander, Wing Leader and Royal. Bringing our potential number fielded to a staggering 5, which is half the number of battleships that I know of within Liberty. Come next mod version we will almost certainly be switching in entirety over to Civilian bombers, though that matter will be decided when the time comes. What indie Xenos do is of no concern of mine so long as it falls within the boundary of server rules. -- Xenos are poor, yes, which is why you see us flying only fighter class vessels as opposed to a wide variety of gunboats, cruisers and so on which other factions have access too. Our poverty is not a reason to suggest that we should be restricted to flying Starblazers. The XA has made many efforts to circumvent our poverty, between fielding multiple freighters which conduct smuggling operations between our own bases to fuel our internal economy and trade our various products with the IMG and Zoner freeports, associations with various Universal factions which provide us with funding and supplies in exchange for our grudgingly looking the other way and so on. Furthermore, past startup fees, the XA operates on a strict "bounty" system, meaning the bank is closed save for payouts on transports that are eradicated. Bounties payable by ship weight and cargo. This is meant to simulate a hypothetical "donation" system to the cause based upon our success as a people powered movement. I instituted this artificial system to ensure we're out there doing our job of breaking trade and not simply engaging military targets, as the XA (nor any Xenos, I hope) demand credits of their quarry. We're terrorists, not pirates. The large majority of Xenos you see flying about are in star fliers and all other manner of NPC kit, those of us you see flying about are the elite, the receptacle of a large concentration of the resources available to the Xeno faction as a whole to break some windows and make some serious effort. We're the guys who get called in when things need to get done. -- I'm disappointed to think that on the other side of the effort that we've put into fleshing out a role that was sporadically explored by few save the earnest investment by the Sons of Liberty it boils down to our faction, of all others, being questioned for our utilization of a very basic vessel and armament that is as common as a Hessian train disruptor. Edit: Sniper made me blush :$ On Xenos - Tenacity - 06-11-2008 Dont get me wrong, I'm not bashing xenos here =P I mean, I dont like them when I'm in-character on my junker, but the players seem more respectful than those of most other factions I come across. I would like it if they'd quit supernova'ing my transport though =( On Xenos - onca - 06-11-2008 I'm glad to see majority of people sticking up for the Xenos, or more precisely, the RP of the XA clan and others. When Liberty starts running gunboats with naught but missile turrets, then Xenos may run a bomber which is not a slothful piece of junk. They may also mount weps which fire more than exploding marshmallows. There I said it. Shame, Magoo, shame.... |
