Change to railguns - RingoW - 11-22-2008 As it was pointed out, Railgun is using projectiles, aka ammo. Currently Disco ships can load 70 rounds of each ammo. We already have comparable guns, hence why particle weapons have the high velocity. Next thing is balancing. High velocity and high damage is a fighter insta kill weapon. SN, basicly anti cap weapon is already abused for. I would not like to see more of those weapons. Better enforce normal gun and missile fights. AoM Change to railguns - Nightwind - 11-23-2008 Hm it doesn't have to be imbalancing. Make it consume large amounts of energy PLUS ammuniton. Or make it only usable on some ships. For example VHFs or SHFs. Maybe even only on LFs. Or restrict it to certain capships like cruisers (they're not that strong anyway. It would help to balance them a bit and finally give them a small advantage. crosslink)) I'd like to see them on GBs, but i think that would be a bit overpowered. And of course it would add some variety to the CD/Torp slots. I'm sure there is a way to prevent them beeing fighter-one-hit-kill-weapons. A small firing delay? Like the time it takes to load the projectile ? Or it would only damage targets without shields... EDIT: The projectile hasn't necessarily to be that incredibly fast/instant-hitting, I think it's enough if it's just very fast (fast enough to be a kind of sniper-weapon) Change to railguns - Luka - 02-25-2010 What about if the railguns get splited in 2: gauss gun and Railgun Gauss gun +Hits Harder (that means to cap-ships, if it's one.shot-kill for fighters) +Faster Refire +Less energy -lower range -lower speed -hits even weaker on shields RailGun +Longest Range +Really fast bullet +Still do a bit of damage in shields (because the bullets inside the railgun get electrically charged, that would hit a shield a bit more) -hit weaker -reloads slow -uses more energy And these 2 get splited in 3 more: normal bullets,Hybrid Bullets and magnetical bullets.
