Remove the Blanket Bounties - Walker - 11-28-2009 Put simply, I've always considered Blanket Bounties as an extra bonus. I've really never bothered to shoot a guy as a Merc just for an extra 100,000 Credits... I mean most of the time you spend more than that on ammo and supplies afterward... Any logical Merc should go use the search button and make a list of the top 20 Bounties offered that he can do and do it. I've gotten rather alot from Mr. Blaze's Hammerhead in a week. Best of all a smart Merc would approach the target not "REDIZDEADZ". I've stuck with a few guys sometimes and even participated in a few things of their roleplay, it was rather fun, and then when the guard was lowered drop the RP-Bomb and they are all Darth Vader "What!?" and I'm there going Han Solo "YEEHAWWW!" at them. To say much, it was rather fun, I find playing a Merc like that more Dynamic than just "Bounty. Bounty. Shoot. Shoot. Cash in. Cash in." - But thats just with a Merc ID and I'm rambling. The BHG ID does somewhat limit then to Bounty, Shoot, Cash. What I'm more thinking is, people should use the BHG as less Bounty Hunters, but more Private Military Contractors. Because thats essentially what they are... Go tell all BHG that if they camp the Bering/Hudson gates in Texas and enforce the Liberty Embargo that they will get around maybe 500,000 per ship. And I'm still groaning on... So I'll talk about what were talking about now... "Bounty Hunter ships cease fiyah, deze pepz r undah protectz from teh lane haxorz." "Go away, theres no bounty for hackers." In Singleplayer when the Hackers came to your aid. Date back to that, and you see that the Hackers did not get along very well with the Hunters but did not engage them on sight and merely gave them an ultimatum. And the Bounty Hunters didn't go all "OMG PIRATEZ KILLZ IT." Put simply, look at Jango/Boba Fett. A few people attacked him out of revenge, there was a time when he was the iconic hand of the Empire and the Rebels engaged him because they knew that 99% of the time at current he was working for the enemy. But otherwise, people left him alone or kept their distance from him. The same should be done with Bounty Hunters and pirates, "Hey you tried to kill me! DIE!" Or "Pathetic Traitor... I can't be bothered to deal with you, leave this place before it gets ugly." I mean, look at Sigma-13 - When a pirate sees a BHG, he engages, but why? It would be better to let the BHG Pass and wait for a trader, you just engaged somebody that probably wouldn't have engaged you thus wasting your resources. And even if you beat him, your at half strength and a Shire pulls up and totally owns your face and you might have got it if you hadn't wasted most of your ammo and nanobots on that Hunter. SeaFalcon, most BHG's DONT really follow the law... They probably got bagged into Huntsville or got bored of the lowly conditions of piracy, defected to the BHG and are now sipping Martini's on Curacao because they know what routes what times and where their Marks will be, getting paid hourly what they probably got in a week. In addition to using a ship that isn't made of duct tape. Profit is all that matters to most BHG, the same with the LPI. Except in the LPI's case, they have to engage lest they lose their jobs. Whilst the BHG can go along their merry way. EDIT: And now whilst I made this wall of text, moar poastz hav been madez0rz!!!!1!... Dare I make another or just sit it out? Remove the Blanket Bounties - ryoken - 11-28-2009 I find all 3 side's are wrong alot of time's. BH's do not police unless requested to assist military/law. Yet they sit around scanning peep's,and fire on them. Pirate's use the all so lame HALT! No name, or reason, and spam fire CD's.Trader's tend to yell at both OORP, and treaten to sanction(which is sanctionable). No BH should fire just because they see red. First all guard's are usually red,and second, if no bounty? no payday. Problem is all pirate's think if they have no bounty on their name, they are safe. Not true. YOU ARE A PIRATE. I was OPG, and i never complained when a lawful came after me. It is their job. BH's? i had both good and bad. I really love the "You die now" pew pew most use as RP. Remove the Blanket Bounties - schlurbi - 11-28-2009 You know Athenian, sometimes I think you have a folder on your desktop. Filled with Bull****, ready to be posted if it is needed. I am a Pirate, I know what consequences there are. Such as being chased by the Police or being hunted by Bounty Hunters, but Bounty Hunters who are trying to get a full wallet with real Cash. If I am a Rogue I have a Rogue ID, yeah. But because I have to. Like a Rogue would enjoy his piracy in space with a big sign on his ship, Liberty Rogue written on it. What the hell are thinking that you dont want smarter Bounty Hunters who actually check out the Bounty Bords? Remove the Blanket Bounties - SeaFalcon - 11-28-2009 If you look at the 'code of conduct of the BHG and BHG core and I quote Quote: Hmm soo... what does that mean edit: And Schlurbi (I suppose your the pirate I killed in penny) You shouted at me I dont have a bounty you might also fight check the bounty boards before saying such things and who you think knows where the hunter or the pirate. In real world the criminals often don't know that they got one on their heads so how does he know he doesnt have one? Remove the Blanket Bounties - Irra - 11-28-2009 I wish there is more of these, not sure there is any of these for Omicrons ... Corsair one is long gone ... Remove the Blanket Bounties - Walker - 11-28-2009 Uhm actually if you read anything in SP. The LPI hired BHG to do their patrol paths and C&D any Pirates there. The BHG were effectively used for what Private Military Contractors were used today for. Filling up holes in patrol routes or protecting things that a company can't be bothered to do. I mean, you don't see the US Army protecting Senator's do you? You see Blackwater or AirScan coming in with their men and doing it. And saying that, all factions are wrong Ryoken, we don't do everything perfectly. BH's that scan like that are idiots. Pirates who say "Halt!" after they just Cruise Disruptor'd you, your the only person within ten kilometers are using their common sense. Traders should use theirs. Usually if its crowded a Pirate, any pirate, would more appropriately say "Halt DSE Freighter" or the like. And Traders who threaten to sanction isn't much at all. That happens everywhere, I've even had it happen from every faction in game to a degree. We are attacking problems here that are usually personal to the factions, not universal problems shared by at best anyone. Or stuff that aren't problems at all. EDIT: Obeying the laws of the house? Thats pretty much there because the BHG wouldnt keep getting contracts from the LN if they were shipping Card. Let me rephrase that, the BHG don't follow the law because they want to. They just do it because its more profitable, if there was a drop in profits or the BHG didn't have use for such anymore, they would just give the thing the finger and go their merry way as stated. You know, I think just going around as a BHG and asking yourself "Whats more profitable?" would probably clear up alot of this. Remove the Blanket Bounties - Errant.Venture - 11-28-2009 Ok....this thread just got interesting No I lied, I shall take my leave. /summon when it gets back on topic....I think it was blanket bounties, and why they should be removed... Remove the Blanket Bounties - ryoken - 11-28-2009 Yeah i miss OPG,and other corsair's Pwning those BH's in Gamma when they came a hunting. Not to say i dislike the BHG, hell i had 3 BH char's too. I just did not go PVP whoring with them. Remove the Blanket Bounties - Irra - 11-28-2009 they don't need to get removed... we need more Remove the Blanket Bounties - Akura - 11-28-2009 Well it can be argued that Bounty Hunters have awesome guns, and pretty good ships, so it pisses off the unlawfuls when they crawl out of every nook and cranny to claim a non-existant bounty. |
