RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - GrnRaptor - 09-19-2013 ============== Carbines ============== I have say that I like the buff on the shield damage and the refire being 6.67 now. However, I'm wondering why the speed was dropped to 650 m/s instead of the 700 m/s it was previously. These synced well with the Pot-de-Fers and Purple Goddess Chain guns, giving a nice mix of 700 m/s hull/deb combos, though at a nerfed core depending upon your ID & ship/gun combo. It also provided Freelancers with a range of debilator speeds meaning that 650 m/s, 700 m/s, and 750 m/s were all on the table. I would like to see Carbines keep their new refire and move back to 700 m/s. P.S. PGCG + Carbine fire is damn sexy looking. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Syrus - 09-20-2013 ============== Zephyr ============== I'd like to suggest some changes to the Zephyr. First of all, it's nice that it's back, but... --- 1. The bots / bats are still 50 lower than those of any other medium and even most other light battleships. 50 bots is a lot of armor, don't be mistaken here. A comparison: It has 827'000 armor + 1550 bots . 50 bots are worth 50 * 600 = 30'000 armor. So, you could also say it has 797'000 armor and 1600 bots. This actually puts it as the 3rd 4th weakest (armor/bb-wise) battleship in the game, not fitting it's medium-size and all. Giving it 50 bb more would put it in its proper place armor/bb-wise. --- 2. It's angular acceleration (turning speed acceleration) is half of that of other medium BS. It doesn't make that up by being much smaller or anything - actually it's pretty much right in between of the Bretonian Battleship and the Liberty Dreadnought - except for being a bit more flat (more space to shoot at from top and bottom, a bit less from sides, front and back). So, suggesting it to be buffed to the same turning acceleration as the other medium battleships. --- 3. Unlike other medium battleships it has only two heavy turrets. I guess you "justifiy" that by saying "it's a carrier", I won't get into that discussion again... Anyway, my suggestion (if there won't be a 3rd heavy turret, and/or better heavy turret arcs) is to activate the two deactivated secondary turrets (see picture) and swap the heavies with the two secondaries below the ship (see picture yet again). That way the ship's top side is decently protected and the ship has better anti-snub protection. (At the moment it's pretty much just an underpowered medium battleship...) The ship is quite big, even for a heavy cruiser. Yet it doesn't have significantly high armor or other significant advantages. Even though it has a very low - one of the three lowest, significantly lower than all the other (~10% lower than the next lowest) - turning speed. It'd make sense to buff this up to the Vidar's turning speed at least, just to balance out the cruisers a bit better. The Storta - the Outcast Destroyer - has the same problem, its max. turning rate is the same like the Praefect, while being a medium cruiser and not having any significant advantages as well, though it is quite thin. I still don't see a reason for it having such low turning speed. The same pretty much goes for the Thanatos - the Colonial Cruiser - though it has an even lower turning rate. Considering their twelve turrets I suggest them to be buffed to something between the Vidar's and the Coalition Cruiser's turning speed. The Praefect was always supposed to excel with arcs. I'll have another look at its arcs and maybe buff that up to keep variety. Storta will be evaluated later. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Scumbag - 09-20-2013 Quote:Orca gunboat turret arcs somewhat fixed - Update 1 Right now the Orca has a blind spot as huge as a battleship. It's also as big as a cruiser. It's a broken useless waste of space and resources. Illustrating my point of view: Screenshot of an Orca next to a Hatchet and a Liberty cuiser. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Sikki.Nyxx - 09-20-2013 ============== Red Hessians LF Loki ============== Cruise speed is 350 and not 400, will it be fixed? No because it's no longer an LF. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Trogdor - 09-20-2013 ============== Conference, Borderworlds Gunboat ============== These are light gunships, with the lightest powercores and gun slots. Yet, after some comparison, I found that they are both as large as the Hathor, the heaviest gunboat. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=179983096 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=179981589 I haven't flown the Conference, but the Montante did not seem any more agile than the Hathor, and its light powercore makes its lack of agility that much more of a problem. I found that I was jousting with the Hathor I dueled rather than being able to stay on his tail. If these are supposed to be light gunships, shouldn't they feel a lot more agile than the heaviest gunboats? Granted, I'm not good at pvp, but this is my impression. Also gunboat missiles are pretty awful.. 200k energy per shot? That's half the powercore for one missile, whose damage isn't significant even to fighters. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Mercarryn - 09-21-2013 ============== Raba transport ============== Current powercore does not support the gunboat turrets. Energy will be used up within 5 seconds. Looks like it still has the old tranport powercore and not that of a light gunboat like stated in info card Rebuy the ship or wait until the tool that refreshes the internal loadouts is done. ============== Black Dragon VHF ============== Asymetrical slot setup. In order to set up 2 debilators on each side of the fighter, I had to use slots 3 and 5 instead of 1/2 or 3/4. Not really a balance issue... more like a convenience one. RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Syrus - 09-21-2013 ============== Battleships - Reverse Thrust ============== The reverse thrust on some of the battleships is unbalanced: There is no clear pattern behind the reverse thrust speed of battleships. Some are just faster, or some are just slower. Whatever you want to call it. It's mainly that there are some which fly -17 ms while others go up to -27 ms (and the Sarissa even goes up to -30 ms). I could understand if heavier BS had worse backwards thrust, while smaller BS had more, but this doesn't seem to be the case. My suggestion would be, - to either make all BS have the same backwards thrust, - or have them balanced going by size: light BS get good (-30), medium mediocre (-27) and heavy low backwards speed (-17). I could also point at the turning speeds, which differ without any pattern by size, armor or such. Some are just more agile, while others are less agile. And some (Zoner Carrier, CR Carrier -> see my 1st post) have a much lower turning acceleration...Seems all a bit wonky... ============== Battlecruisers - Impulse / Thrust Speed ============== The Kusari Battlecruiser only flies 60 / 120 ms, the Liberty and IMG Battlecruisers on the other hand fly 80 / 140 ms (and the BHG BC flies 70 / 130 ms). EDIT: I might want to put that among the bugs, right? I mean, aren't they all supposed to fly 70 / 130 ms?! RE: 4.87 Ship balance reports (Ships / Weapons) - Lythrilux - 09-21-2013 ============== SABRE ============== Well, the 10K powercore makes the ship a lot less durable than it was in .86 The change doesn't really seem that nesscary. The Sabre was a much more preferable ship with the 11K Core. We'll see how it goes. ============== ORCA ============== Model is too big, it's really dissapointing that the stats haven't been changed either. What we have currently is a gunboat with gunship armour and core. It's kind of in Guboat limbo. The ship could use an Armour boost, maybe a core boost too. The model either needs to be shrunken or redone. Will be changed. |
