' Wrote:Trying to end this community by crashing servers is like trying to dismantle and eliminate a terrorist organization by killing a few of its leaders. Sure we may run around like crazy for a while (random admin sanction posts followed by lolwut and lolcow pics), but eventually the organization is back up and running again, with some new found improvements. You can't kill or destroy something by only attacking one part of its existence, and to be blunt, you cannot feasibly attack all of disco's existences (skype, forums, servers, etc.) simultaneously. The only way to destroy disco, would be to invite all of its members and dev teams to a big free dinner at a convention center with free liquor, and then bomb the place, effectively killing everyone then and there. BBut even with that, someone would probably start a disco server up afterward as a memorial to us all.
BTW... free dinner and liquor at my house this Saturday....never mind the large fertilizer filled vans out in front.

Some hackers' goal is not to destroy communities, but mainly just to test out their experimental programs and hacking skills. I haven't ran into one hacker who sought to destroy communities.

For example, Joseph Stalin of Russia's goal was to make the motherland awesome and show his authority by killing a few million of his own people, not just only killing people for fun (okay, there are some times where he killed for no reason). Now, for Hitler, he just killed people for fun. Almost everyone here will think I am an idiot, and I am. :nyam:

So, hackers are like Stalin, pure evil = Hitler.

Speaking of Stalin, long live the Coalition.

I still don't know what that means.

EDIT: Time to be useful- "Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies)[1] is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

Have to disagree. Both of these guys were pure evil. One did terrible things during the war. The other, after the war, being able to eventually kill even more people then the first one did. And threw half of Europe into a big bad ugly shade of commies. Hate them I say, we?ve had them here for good 41 years and thanks, we are still not out of the s**t they made here. Dai Coalition.

Whoever did crash Disco is just a kid, someone without a real life who failed in his task. He will be found and destroyed. Let him pray the address isnt posted here on Disco. Har har!

Just track his IP and tell where the man that is doing this to the server lives... and if he lives near the place where I live i'll go knock his door and break his both arms for that and if not I hope somebody who lives near him do the same or worst (I really hope)... no more PC for him for a long time. I'm not joking here...
LONG LIFE TO DISCOVERY!!!

He's using proxies.

If we could track his IP to him this would be over by now >.>

Quote:This is only making our community stronger, notice how were all rallied together to get the server back up? A backfired plan if you ask me.

It has given me time to work on some IMG renders that I hope get some thought and consideration. I'll post some in a few days elsewhere if they get past the ok stage.

As far as whatever this hacker was after, they already got it. Seeing the first 20 or so posts here was what fuels their ego and their vengance for whatever and whoever "wronged" them.

Aside from community synergy, I would like to focus on the administrators who are on the front lines doing what they can to bring back the village, this community has come to enjoy.

Thanks again.

Here's something I thought I'd like to share with you all.

All this wild speculation on this and that is eventually utterly pointless. Honestly, what is the purpose of projecting into the future, or into that which you can't see and asking questions about it, when you're not equipped with the information required to make it clear?

The situation we have is a very real one. Not an abstract idea about which you have no choice but to speculate, but something on which people are working.

Please, stop asking "Is he someone who got banned?" because nobody knows the answer, and one can't find out without him telling us, or something happening which reveals the answer. That won't happen as a result of you just throwing a question into the public domain, so you'll have to be satisfied with not knowing until such a time as it comes clear.

Please stop making uninformed statements like "The server will be hosted in x city", or "the fbi are chasing him". Again. You don't know, and won't know until such a time as it become clear of it's own volition. You making statements you're unsure of the validity of only make you look like a fool.

There are options for the hosting. You will know what's going on with that soon enough.

Please, for the sake of my sanity, stop asking questions to which there is no answer on the forum, or spamming me with them on skype. When you've been asked "are the police gunna do something?" for the 18th time in a day, it becomes incredibly boring.

When you're told 'important information' which you already knowa non-warped version of, and has become so skewed through chinese whispers that it bares little to know relevance to the truth, then it makes me just about want to tear my hair out.

Please, there are people working on things. Speculation without information is completely pointless. I've said all I know in one form or another to a few different people, and I don't want to have to correct the wild rambling thoughts of anyone else, and I don't want to have to repeat myself again with regards to any of it.

Thank you.

EDIT: Just to put this in more simple terms, having the following conversation with anyone is plain dumb...

"Hey dude! Did you hear the hacker's dog's name is Sally?"

"Nooooooo, really? My dog is called Sally!"

"Yeh man, Dave told me."

"Are you sure he's right?"

"No, not at all, for all I know he might have made it up."

"Oh... Well then, I don't think I give a good god-damn."

So PLEASE, don't bother me with this kind of thing, and don't bother posting it here. It's really bloody stupid.

(note, the above conversation didn't happen, it's an exageration to illustrate a point)
