' Wrote:I would say that the Corsairs and Outcasts, and to a lesser extent Hessians, should have access to caps.

Hessian caps would likely be used against the Corsairs in the Omegas, as opposed to being used in Rheinland proper against the RM, so as to avoid the cops finding their hideouts.
Funny that though, Hessian side of the Omegas is almost completely covered with asteroids with the exception of Omega-15, so we can't actually use caps effectively there. We're more or less confined to using them on RM or not using them at all, which is also a good reason why RHA flies mostly fighters:P

Quote:The GMG, rather than the IMG, I would see equipped with larger vessels, but even then, tending towards more mobile caps such as gunboats and light cruisers. They're wealthy and have had to war against houses and criminal empires both.
Thing with the GMG though is that they are a faction of fighter aces. In RP they destroyed the invading Rheinland fleet with just strike craft, and no caps. That was what saved them. I don't think it would ever change for them from that point on... they shouldn't use anything bigger than a gunboat, and even then it should be very very limited.

Quote:The Junkers don't have any enemies against which they would use caps. Xenos? Nah, bringing caps into Liberty to fight Xenos wouldn't be very wise. Wouldn't look good, and would cost too much when they can just pay the cops to do it. Hogosha? They just avoid them.

Dragons? No. Please no. Just... no.

The Xenos, however, have the manpower, being the fastest growing criminal group in Liberty, the materials, being miners, and the wealth, thanks to seedy donations and the progress of the Sons of Liberty. They also have sympathisers in high places, thanks to tensions with Rheinland. Therefore: Battleships. Obviously.
Signed.

Bugger off then.

Blodo, good points on the GMG.

On Outcasts and Corsairs, I see them as small houses, with the capacity to make large vessels. Indeed, Rheinland's economy has collapsed entirely, yet they have a full fleet, even after getting mauled in the Nomad War. Noone says 'Rheinland has a crap economy, they can't have capital ships'.

Hessians might not be able to make caps, like you say, but I guess I can see them using a few around Casablanca base, perhaps. Maybe a few light cruisers or similar.

Pirates in Battleships - Blodo - 08-24-2008

Well, the way we are doing it right now is I don't pull out the Hessian flagship unless for events or Vogtland defense. So in general it barely leaves the Giftnebel gas cloud. Casablanca barely sees any action, and it's an extremely small base too, so keeping it there would be pointless and slightly OORP >_>

If Omega-54 gets modded for 4.85, we're very likely going to keep the cruiser at the shipyards.

Sigged:laugh:

And on that note, I pretty much agree with Blodo's assessment. Also, The Rogues have destroyers, because the Outcast Dessie is partially their design (don't ask me how...exercise in jury-rigging?)

pirates and battleship for me always was a big no >>
how could we translate that... lets say... Al-Qaeda... but with an aircraft carrier or two.

Pirates in Battleships - Jazz - 08-24-2008

I noticed there was a mention in the first post about the Alby BC. but the thing about that is, the IMG are accomplished and very popular shipwrites. the build ships for a living, also they are explorers, so the Alby makes fine sense.

I'd move sales of Battleships to guard systems to decrease their popularity.
I'd also remove all Bounty Hunter ships larger than the Orca.

sorry but this aint an anti-cap discussion but pointing out logical problem. as I said: either everyone knows where crete/malta is and those two are able to fight houses in open conflicts OR they aint and have to hide.

its just a decision we should make here, cause big fat ships (but no biodomes:P) and tiny bases hidden in rocks don't work out well together.

I haven't read the whole thread, but... How the heck could Hackers build Battleships? Sure they have a guard system, but... Still. They have the knowledge, sure, but resources?
