RE: Should Xenos be allowed to use gunboats? - Enkidu - 03-12-2018 Speculating what a hypothetical Xeno official faction would do with a perk it would have to request (which is very tough without a dedicated Xeno playerbase anyway, fortunately XA is starting to make a comback), is putting the cart before the horse, don't you think? Unioners only got official and perked the ID (and the Arbeiter) into an enormous success story because we had a few dedicated madmen who enjoyed playing bad IDs with bad ships just cuz', in revival of a group that'd already had a solid shot at the server back in 2014 days. Only once we made the ID git gud and showed up every day did recruitment and player retention take care of itself. We can't assume that's repeatable - waiting for some crazy players to come along and elevate a dead ID to playability after six months of grinding isn't very fair. Doesn't matter if we use 2 or 3 GBs at once. We clearly wouldn't overthrow the mighty Liberty with that skill. Do effective fighter/bomber group capable get caps without losses very hard with small online. You need 2 bombers and 2 fighter minimum for keep things smooth. Giving the chance to defend in tought situations, facing enemies that mostly use Gb's and upper class, would make the fights more interesting. The server needs action anyways, doesn't help that the enemy team called X dock their ships in combat, self-nuke and planetdive. They will still get utterly pounded out of existence the moment Lib lawfuls catch wind of them. Xenos are just an example of a faction whose back was broken long ago when the player count started taking a nosedive, and until someone with the balls, permissions, and necessary server or dev powers takes steps to overhaul things they will probably stay a niche faction at best. If you're going to go this angle, just give them the LWB treatment and roll Hellfire into their place instead. Don't waste everyone's time rolling caps bit by bit into one of the few IDs with any semblance of uniqueness left. Excuse me? Xenos are one of the best factions. Yet, underrated+underpowered. Playerbase can struggle all day long to kill it. Their ID only needs some tweaks here and there. Their tech is a joke, their ZOI is small (although it is Liberty), and their diplomacy is non-existent, save for one faction which almost totally eclipses them in what they can do. I understand that you're attached to the concept of PvPing Liberty all day with your buddies, but I am not asking for your opinion, I'm just stating the fact that the NPC faction is in a sorry state. Their tech cell is not 'decent' unless Black Widows and Suntigers got an update since I last played, because they were piss-poor then and probably still are now. Don't worry - even if the devs did axe the Xenos (which they won't, they'd no doubt rather turn them into Liberty Rogues v2), you could still use literally any other Liberty-based pirate faction to get your jollies. |
